Not doing well on this one. I can only make out Toy Story, Jaws and I think Finding Nemo (although it could equally be A Sharks Tale) and one of the LOTR's films (Two Towers I think).

I finally finished watching the Aviator last night (watched the first half about two months ago). I actually really enjoyed it (especially the senate hearing scenes) and came out of it thinking that (despite the fact that he was America's first billionare) Howard Hughes was a really unfortunate bloke and considering what he did achive while being badly afflicted with OCD he could well have done so much more if he'd received some treatment. -
We were unlucky with the referees/linesmans decisions on Saturday, we were unlucky that Bowyer got injured during the game and we were unlucky that that probably our three first choice wide players (Luque, Solano and Dyer) were all out injured. But you cannot blame this misfortune on Faye (who I actually thought played alright considering he's wank) getting a place in the starting 11 or Shola getting a place in the squad (let along being brought on to play wide right). But most of all you cannot blame the misfortune on the totally gutless and disinterested display that the players on the pitch produced. They went out with an attitude of being superior and not needing to earn the right to show their greater level of ability. These things must lay firmly at the feet of the manager. Quite clearly we are not a team in any way shape or form. Teams like Wigan and Portsmouth (even when we play them away from home) should not be able to cope with the players we have but they are being incompetantly managed and coached. We will get better when we get some players back (particularly when we have Solano providing some width) but that will only hide the managers inadequacy for so long. The simple fact is that he's a shite manager and we will continue to fall further and further behind the top teams as long as we stick with him.

I actually preferred AI to most of Kubrick's flicks. I've seen Spartacus, The Killing, 2001, Full Metal Jacket, A Clockwork Orange, The Shining and Part (far too much) of Barry Lyndon and the only ones I would care to watch again are the first two. I wouldn't mind seeing Paths Of Glory and I have Dr Stragelove to watch when I get a minute but other then that I couldn't care less about him. I might watch Eyes Wide Shut for soft core porn purposes mind you -
I would say that we have a squad of players cabable of getting a European place (even a champions league place) given anywhere near the amount of luck (both with injuries and in general) that we got in previous seasons. I would say the only position that our squad is any weaker than it was is up front where we lost two quality players and only brought one in (added to the fact that Shearer is pretty much on his last legs). But our first choice strike force is better than we have had at least since the Shearer/Ferdinand partnership. The additions of Parker, Emre, Luque and Solano are a vast improvement on Butt, Ambrose, Jenas and Robert imo. And our defence has to benefit from getting rid of O'Brien and (imo) Hughes. When we finished 3rd we didn't play as well as the season before but we carried more luck. When we finished 5th we were almost as bad as we were last season but we carried a hell of a lot of luck. Since Souness arrived we have not carried any luck at all this has hampered his chances of doing anything positive with the team. Like I said I don't want to sound like this is me defending him because I think it is just a disguise for his inadequacy as a manager. But I can't slag him off for cursing our luck because it's not an excuse he's spot on!

Started watching that myself but after six months of getting up through the night to feed a baby there was no chance of me staying up to see it through. Despite the brilliance of Brando and Duvall I still prefer Platoon. And I can't really get away with Full Metal Jacket at all. It starts off well and Vincent D'Nofrio and R Lee Emry are superb. But after the training section finishes it seemed to lack direction for me. But then I find that with nearly all of Kubirck's films. -
Quality album, I was listening to the Virgin Suicides the other day and that's top notch too. Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot

The amount of injuries we have and have had in key positions is incredible and is something I think anyone other than Chelski would struggle to get away with. If you consider our last game and the players we had injuered who would be virtually guaranteed a place in the starting 11. Bramble, Emre, Luque, Solano and Owen and then Dyer as backup for either Own or Solano. Then take the equivelant players from Manure, Ferdinand, Scholes, Ronaldo, Giggs and Rooney. Do you seriously think they would be able to play at their best or that Ferguson wouldn't be bemoaning their luck? Of course he would. I don't want to sound like I'm defending Souness because I simply don't rate him as a manager but we have to face the reality of our situation. We are have been missing almost half the team and most of the players you would consider key. In this case I think Souness has the right to consider himslelf unlucky and I would judge him more on the things that he can control (such as his man management, tactics and coatching) rather than on things he cannot.

Dntel - Life is Full of Possiblilities I love Wolf Parades album which I think sounds less and less like Modest Mouse as it goes through.

Only been able to listen to the first few tracks. It is very Modest Mousey. Although I think they're canny I was never a big fan so it hasn't really grabbed me and kept me listening. I got a few new albums yesterday so I'll give it a full listen later. I haven't got the new Broken Social Scene one yet, but I loved You Forgot It In People, so I will be soon. Anyone been listening to Ta Det Lugnt by Dungen? Swedish sing-a-long rock. Kudos to whichever DJ was on in the Forth on Friday and played Panda. 43270[/snapback] I becoming quite a fan of Modest Mouse which is probably why it's clicking with me. I promissed myself that I wouldn't put anything new on my Ipod until I had listened to everything that's on it already but I think I will stick this and Broken Social Scene on and give them a listen tonight. BSS's new one is getting very positive reviews so far so I'm looking forward to listening to it.

The Wrens - This Boy Is Exhausted Happy Face, have you listened to that Wolf Parade album yet? It shaping up quite nicely to me from what I've heard so far. I'm hoping to get a listen to some of Broken Social Scene's new one this afternoon.

That's next on my list too. The connections to Modest Mouse and Arcade Fire made it a must for me to get.

Art Brut - Emily Kane Good call, I listened to the album all the way through for the first time last night and there were a few songs I found quite annoying but Bees is a cracking track and Yeti and the last two are good also.
