1. I'm sure he will be able to come up with something!
2. I blame the training. It's never happened before!
3. Monty Python stylee?? RUN AWAY!!! 63810 with a bloke with two halves of a coconut imitating a horse following him ! 63811 there IS a future for Shola Ameobi then? 63812 Not if he has to run!
4. There's been some talk of O'Neil being interested in the job and personally I think he'd be our best option. Fat boy is never going to bring in a foreign manager so we have to expect someone domestic and obviously O'Neil has the right pedigree. It would mean that no compensation would be necessary too which I'm sure is something that would appeal!
5. What we don't need is for him to go today and us have no one lined up to replace him. He's shite and all of our fears of just over a year ago a coming true but without a plan for his replacement fat boy could quite easily end up making the same mistake again. I'm not saying stick with him until the end of the season because I don't think I could stand him here for that long but I when he goes I want to see the new manager here almost immediately. If it has to be Shearer (who I think would be the wrong choice at this stage but still an improvement on where we are now) it must be with the provision that he has to bring in some quality coaches not just some of his mates. We all know what will happen though.
6. Because I couldn't be bothered to hear Souness's excuses I got back home in time to see Scrubs on Parmount +1.
7. I'd put most players ahead of Shola at the moment but I'm not sure I would play him up front maybe behind the front two drifting out to one of the wings.
8. I know this won't be a popular opinion with everyone but after digesting Sunday's performance (or lack of) I am becoming more and more convinced of this. Patrick Kluivert's opinion of English football (that only the top four teams play any and the rest is just kick and rush) got me thinking and against Everton we confirmed my fears and the pie eaters stance. All we do is hump long balls up for Shearer to scrap for. This is simply not good enough. Firstly it doesn't benefit Shearer who was made to look poor when England tried to play this way when he was still in his prime and looks ten times worse when he's now past the stage when he should have quit. In turn we are no good at it and therefore don't pick up results with it. And secondly because it's just plain boring to watch. What has this got to do with the King of Bling? Well imo the only time since Keegan's glory days that we have played entertaining football is when we have played at 100 mph. Games like the one at 4-3 at Elland Road came about beacuse we had an abundance of pace in the side and when the likes of Dyer and Bellamy (yes he is relevant to this topic ) were at full pelt against defences we were a joy to watch creating chance after chance for Shearer and others. Dyer and Bellamy whilst frequently wasting good oppertunities still kept making a nuicance of themselves which if nothing else put opposition under pressure and made space for others to use. As has been well discussed Bellamy is no longer here but Dyer still is and if we are to see any football being played in the near future I think he may well turn out to be our most important player. We have other players with a lot more ability on the ball and who can finish ten time better but his pace and running ability are unparalled and I think when he is in the team it will help get the rest of them going. We can start playing through the midfield instead of over it which will allow Emre to start pulling the strings and feed the likes of Shearer (who I think will still score goals if we play properly), Owen, Luque and Dyer. I just hope Souness can see this and make some changes to our play. I have my doubts though.
9. Like it or not DK...myself and others are commenting on the fact we are a far worse side without him, when this subject crops we are stating the reason why we are a worse side without him, and will probably continue to do so until we are at least matching the results and league position we had under Bobby Robson, because until that happens...his sale isn't justified in any shape or form whatsoever. 62569 We are also a worse side for allowing Jackie Milburn/Malcolm McDonald/Peter Beardsley/Chris Waddle/Gazza to leave. Are you going to start involving them in every discussion too? I have no objection to having a discussion about the relative merits or otherwise about our team at different points in time if that's what you want but this thread, correct me if I'm wrong, was about the fact that Owen is injured for tonights game and the decision to sell Bellamy is not relevant. As it happens I agree with you that what went on with Bellamy wasn't in the best interest of the team. His pace and energy up front are sadly missed at the moment and whatever benefit we may have gained in increased dressing room morale doesn't in my opinion make up for it. Not to mention the fact that the manner of his exit cost us millions in his transfer value. But this has been done to death and I don't see the point of continuing to include it in almost every thread.
10. Cahill must get the same then. He swung twice compare to the one that Baba threw. We could really do with Carr back for the Arse game now then because I wouldn't fancy Elliott's pace against any of their wide men!
11. Has the tight git not give his mam and dad any money to move to a decent area like? Wouldn't have happened had that bitter, ego mad jock not sold him!
12. So did Andy O'Brien. A goal against the scum does not a defender make. Although if we had a choice between O'Brien and Faye tonight the big nose would win.
13. Our managing director headbutted one of the lasses husbands a few years ago and the year after the IT manager and HR manager had a fight. Before that one of the teams knacked the hotel lift by seeing how many they could get into it and then jump up and down. Canny dull other than that though other than one of the lasses chebs falling out when she was dancing.
14. 50 First Dates on Sky last night. I'm certainly no Adam Sandler fan but I think this is a really funny and surprisingly touching film. Sean Astin is superb too.
15. Cheers Alex, I can't get used all of these new fangled computer thingmy bobs.
16. His elbows were both up and I'm certainly not denying contact was made (though no where near where Weir was holding) but Shearer made no attempt to swing his arm at him. He just raised his arms and moved backwards. Their was no intent to do anything other than protect himself and shield the ball (though I'm sure he didn't care if he caught him). The Grimsby player swung at Shearer attempting to hurt him same as Tino did against Keith Curle (remember that? I nearly pissed myself laughing).
17. I know Solano has played there for Peru on occasion (I remember him playing there once during the 2nd half under Robson too) but he doesn't strike me as having the ability to play there in this country. He helps the full-back out when he plays on the right but I'm not convinced he can tackle/defend. 62767 With the option being Amdy Faye even CLOSER to the goal with NOONE covering behind him I think I'd take a chance with Nobby 62768 If Carr was fit, I'd go with Ramage but I think Faye is probably the best option. 62769 I can't see how Faye is the best option for anything other than slapping in the face with a wet fish. He's not good enough for the squad in his supposed propper position let alone in the team out of position. I'd rather play one of the juniors. Btw will Roberts and Camera be playing? I thought Jewell had said he was going to change about nine of their team.
18. I'm just amazed that they haven't found some way to charge Shearer after his supposed elbow.
19. Don't know where that Smiley has come from.
20. why ? It depends what you see. If anything, they would be more motivated than 6 months down the line too. 62573 I'm not sure I understand what your asking but if it's a) Why do I have faith that he will be a good player? It's because I have seen glimpses of talent in his short appearences and I have seen him play well for Deportivo. Why is it insane to judge him as shite already? He is clearly not match fit, he's not had a chance to get to know how his team mates or the the team in general plays. Also he has come into a team playing poorly so it is unfair to expect him to be the one that (in one half of football) changes things around. I think you are saying that he would be more motivated to play well on his first appearences and while I don't deny that might be true it doesn't outweigh the above points.
21. What's the chances of going a single week without talking about Bellamy? He was never that good for us to keep harping on about him. He's gone get over it and get on with your life.
22. I can see very few reasons for not getting behind any of the players and tbh we particularly need to get behind players who are struggling.
23. I actually agree, I think he was a panic buy and that's why we spent more on him that should have been neccessary. That said I have faith that he will prove to be a good player and to judge him as shite after only playing one full match and a couple of halves and having only had about a weeks full training with his team mates, is nothing short of insane.
24. If we're not going to risk Luque for the full game then we might as well give Chopra a run out. Let's face it Shearer will be playing (which despite the fact that he's a shadow of his former self these days, he's still light years ahead of that donkey he played alongside on Sunday) and everyone with eyes can see he can't play with Shola so we might as well give Chopra a go. At least he'll look interested.
25. I hope not. It would be a shame to see him sink so low. It would make no difference to them either because no one could save that shower of shite without the aid of a Russian billionare!
