Can't understand getting so worked up over a presumption that we won't drastically improve the strikeforce during the summer, especially after a win. I'm no Ashley apologist but I'll judge him (and Pardew) when the window is shut, not before it's even open. I actually absolutely agree tecato. We were less than convincing today and at times i was frustrated too but to go on a rampage is a little...dramatical no? I've been quite vocal with my opinions and i've always said just wait and see what happens in the summer. You never know, we could go and spend big and really push on, equally we may spend moderately but either way we will be an improvement on this seasons side which imho isnt a bad side. Just lacks quality upfront. See how we do in the summer. If its a shocker then LM was correct and il change my opinion. I just have a gut feeling that we will go out and spend well in the summer. If it's a bit dramatical then surely you have to take the past into account regarding the 'lying' accusations proven in a football court. I simply do not trust the current incumbents to run a bath let alone the club. We are on the cusp of a decent side going forward or a decent side going backwards. Honestly, mate, you tell me which way you think we'll go? Dramatic on the back of a win aye. I think we will improve in the summer.

Thats what i said...

Sounds about right to me.

With one more yellow card meaning a 3 match ban that could lead to him missing the start of the season and the fact we are now safe, should we drop him and give a few young lads a go?
-
Agreed. He bosses our midfield, so calm and collected under pressure and spreads play well. Easily our best and most important player. Being our most important player makes losing him to suspension an even bigger issue. He clearly enjoys the physical side of the game but time and time again he is late or reckless and its not for a lack of pace nor composure. I think its just a rush of blood or a split second where he loses concentration. Im not sure if it can be tamed, i think we need to accept it that we will lose him for 4-5 games a season but more importantly have him at his best in the side 33 games a season.

Kjaer would definitely be on my list if we are in fact going for a CB. I just cant see us dropping Taylor and Williamson and i dont think Kjaer would want to sit on the bench neither.

What did i fuckin tell ya?
-
If ya say so fella I fancy a good solid performance like, an early goal and it we'll muller them.

Be nice to sign the season off with two good wins and performances at home starting today. I personally think we are safe but a win today over a team who are 2 points behind us must surely all but confirm our safety. Mcleish's boys are well drilled and hardworking but we really should do them today. 2-0 Nolan and Shola. ---Krul--- Simpson---Taylor---Coloccini---Enrique Barton---Nolan---Tiote---Gutierrez Shola---Lovenkrands Subs: Harper, Tavernier, Raylor, Ireland, Richardson, Ranger and Kuqi.
-
You just never know though do you? 25mil net spend isnt a lot really. RE: Derdiyok...no he doesnt play a barfa role, more like a skillful targetman.
-
If we could get him for 8mil and huntelaar or derdiyok for 8mil then i'd be happy with that.
-
Hugo Viana....
-
Blatant piss take...not even funny tbh.

StoneColdStevenIreland........YOUNG prospects. LM...Who would you like us to go for?

Haven't seen enough of Gosling but the other two are never DMs in a million years. I think Reo-Coker has lost interest in football like. Was a canny player a few years back. Your correct. None of them are defensive midfielders nore did i say they were. They are box to bos midfielder and could do a job if needed. Wasnt it you alex a while back who didnt agree with the idea of one def mid and one att mid? I'm not a fan of the modern obsession for one. Especially if you have a 4-4-2 it's better to have two box-to-box midfielders. In the way we set up though when everyone is fit, Tiote clearly has more defensive responsibilities than whoever partners him. It just so happens he covers that much ground he helps out all over the pitch. Barton is better going forward and doesn't have the engine, physicality or discipline to play this role (before anyone points to Tiote's yellow/red cards that's not the sort of discipline I'm on about - I mean knowing when to hold your position etc). Nolan has never been a box-to-box midfielder so I'm surprised at that comment. With that in mind I'd agree with those saying Reo-Coker would be better cover for Tiote than what we currently have. Therefor if one of those three had to play there then it would be two box to box midfielders in the middle. More to your liking? I thought before Tiote came in that Nolan and Barton would of been decent in the middle.

OK. Great. You don't realise how the club is underperforming and you don't realise the aim to achieve isn't there either, but I'm not going to argue the toss with you about it. Good thats not what this threads all about. But when has that stopped you derailing one before? What young players would you like us to go for then?

Clueless? Thats a matter of opinion really. A different outlook and i dont dwell on the past. Im not happy being a selling club, id much rather get young prospects in, blood them and build a team round them but nowadays, when we arent in europe, any young prospect who looks the real deal will be attracting attention from the bigger clubs who can offer more than us. Its simple really. Once we are consistently challenging top 7 then we will be able to keep them kinda young prospects. The money in the mean time will of course help the club.
-
we have the European Cup in our sights, its a "5 year plan". Always go back to type with you doesnt it? I see no problem at all with going for good prospects with high re-sale value. what's wrong with what I said ? Why are you looking at players with a "re-sale value" anyway ? Do you expect to sell them, if so, why ? Because thats what we are right now. If we bought 5 and sold 4 at a profit and kept one who was quality then im happy with that. For now... EDIT: I just dont like you fella.

http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/newcastle-u...72703-28640879/ Just says its minor and is away back to france for treatment. I'd of liked to have seen him get a run out but being fully fit for next season is much more important.
-
Gomis, Gameiro and M'Bengue would all be good signings in my opinion. Seen a bit of that huseklepp and thought we looked gash tbh. Whats that Henriksen kid like for rosenberg?

He's also significantly less likely to go to prison So at 10mil he is well worth it. Bit of Rooney/Sheringham and Shearer in him from what i've seen.
