Given his track record, what makes you think he's going to invest in at least two top quality strikers and put us in a position where Best is no longer needed, even for depth? I personally think he is good back up, as is shola but we definitely need 2 new in. RE: Wickham...experience isnt everything, the boy has bags of ability...rooney done well at a young age too remember. Him and derdiyok are both gettable and would be be great signings.

Yes i would keep him and Shola as back up. Let Lovenkrands go and send Ranger on Loan. But ONLY if we bring in TWO new strikers. Derdiyok and Wickham please.

If we can maintain good form over the next month and keep ourselves within touching distance of 6th/7th then when he comes back i can so no reason why we wouldnt finish in a europa spot. If we dont qualify then i wont be too dissapointed, to be in with a shout of it after promotion is of massive encouragement.

We were in decline but i dont think we are now. Promotion followed by a solid 1st season back is progression. Incline. Selling one big player doesnt mean decline neither, if that money stays in the club and i think it will then our finances are on the incline too. Yes we are not the same newcastle as the KK era but thats just the way it is. I see us progressing slowly with FMA and if someone bought us out who was ambitious then that progression would be sped up. Simple fact is this debate is futile. We can speculate all we like but at the end of the day we have to wait till the summer and see what happens. Imo i think we will have a good summer and push on next year.

The Chronny today reckon that Ben Arfa will be back for the Wolves game on April 2nd. He is running and is back in training next month. Could play last 8 games of the season! So its mid February and we are sitting in 9th. A very nice place to be in our 1st season back. Im not suprised though some will be, alot thought we would go down again. 2 or 3 wins away from gaurenteed safety and a very good chance of finishing in a european place. Personally i think he is doing a pretty good job. You can argue it is CH's team and it is but he has made his own stamp on it. We are at times looking a better "footballing side" and we seem to be playing with a bit more freedom than we did under CH. I for one like what he has to say as well. Like people have said, his big test will be what he does over the summer with regards to transfers. We need at least 5 new faces imo. Cover for LB and RB, either a creative CM or and productive RM depending on where we will use Barton next year. Personally i'd continue to use Barton out wide, thats where he's played his best football. We then need two new strikers. We HAVE to spend at least 30mil in the summer.
