I agree about the home form but just cant put a finger on why? Are we putting too much pressure on them? Are we not creating a good enough atmosphere? Well....he does, thats what he does, he keeps it simple. I'v not seen him play a probing ball forward much but thats not what we bought him for. But he has that bit of skill and is soo calm under pressure it relieve's us when we need it and we have not had that type of player in a long long time. I'd be encouraging him to have a dig more often too.

I see your point, but for me Essien is far more talented than being just a holding midfielder. Correct but i think Tiote has all the attributes to develope into a player of Essien's class.

Looking at it again today you realise what a huge result that actually was. When you consider that had we lost or even drawn we would still be languishing near the bottom of the table. Had that been the case pressure would of started to build. Luckily, thankfully and deservedly we avoided that and find ourselves in the top half and going into the mackem game boyed with a good result and a solid perfomance to boot. Before the game many questioned CH's decision to play Barton on the right, i could see why he had done that but still was a little unsure as to how it would work. It did work and its another option down the right and thats a bonus when options are few and far between in that area. I'd go with the exact same line-up and game plan against the unwashed and i think after yesterdays victory we could well do them. Credit where credits due....CH showed a little tactical nouse and the players responded well.

We need to stick to two upfront against all sides bar the top 3/4. Give us a chance to win games. Your right and we've all been saying it for a while now. Hopefully CH realises thats the way forward. Dont think thats the end to Nolan though however.

Solid aint he. Nowt fancy but no messing. Cracking purchase. He's worth building a side around. The others give him the ball under any circumstances and when tightly marked because his touch and the way he shields the ball are superb. I was going to say earlier and then thought better of it, watching him and Parker on the same pitch just shows how much a great holding midfielder adds to a team. Essien, Makele, Vieira are all examples of players that just give that extra to a team. And yes it's early and he's a different style of midfielder but I'd like to hope Tiote becomes the new Rob Lee, albeit, an African Rob Lee I agree in principle that we should be building around players like him, but, he is nothing like a Rob Lee...Lee had far more range in his locker. Tiote seems to play the short and simple game which i love in a CM. Him and Barton in the middle will be crucial for us.

Pretty good 1st half. Good contest and a pretty good performance from us. If we can get a little more joy down the right and get some balance then we could well win this. Simpson's lack of match fitness shows but i still think he is better than Perch. Come on lads

I'd disagree, it's because our midfield keeps giving the ball away putting them under pressure. Yeah, we're giving it away needlessly but we conceded because of poor communication between our central defense and they do look worried against the size and mobility of their forwards. Our midfield is passing a lot better at the moment.. ish. They've also stopped trying to run with it all the time which helps. I wish Barton wouldn't always play that cross field ball. And GL, he's better than Essien because he's our's! Haha i wouldnt say he's better but he certainly is our best signing in a long time. I like how the africans play and he looks like he can twat a ball.....on target.

Tiote has looked class again. Reminds me a bit of Essien.
