If he doesnt drop Nolan and Ben Arfa starts, i cant see him playing any other way. It would be a 4-3-1-2 though. I can see Hughon playing Ben Arfa there if he believes that he will track back and play some form of defensive duty when we dont have the ball. I quite like that idea but would Jonas be able to play in theory a CM role? For to play 3 in the middle means a fairly narrow formation and relying on the fullbacks to overlap and get balls into the box leaving 2 or the 3 in the middle to run at defenders. Enrique would suit this formation and do well, as would Simpson when fit, even Raylor at right back with his ability to deliver. Just NOT Perch.

Stupid really to be slating Routledge already. I personally dont think while he hasnt been great he hasnt been bad neither. I do however think that if Ben Arfa is to start it would be in place of WR. Preferably id like to see him play just off Carroll and as Chez said this game would be ideal for us to try out a 4-3-3 but right now i dont think we have the right players for it. 3-0 Carroll Coloccini Ben Arfa

What a great opening interview! Never really liked or rated him previously but looking at his track record and listening to his comments, he clearly is a man with huge hunger and passion for the game and the premier league. Villa might well of just made a very VERY good appointment in him. Good luck to him and i hope he stays healthy.

Peronally i think this window and the last one have been shrewd business and just what we need when we need it, nothing more nothing less. Perch looks ok and his pace may make up for what looks like a lack of positional awareness. I hope he can forge a goos understanding with Routledge. Campbell is a good signing, his experience will be important through the tough times and will help bring on the likes of Kadar and possibly Taylor. Gosling is a good young english prospect, alot to learn but sufficient potential to be a good PL box to box midfielder...being english means a good resale potential too. Tiote will give us the muscle in central midfield we need. Finally, save the best till last, Ben Arfa, and inspired signing and just what we need! Not only does he bring the flair and the creativity but options too. Can play off a striker (Carroll - which imo would be 1st choice 1st class partnership) but he offers us options all across midfield. Very happy with this window but like others another PL striker would of been nice. Credit where credits due.

Living in glasgow and workin with alot of tims the feelin is they expect him to play alot and are very excited at his signing. I just hope he doesnt leave permanently as potentially he could be a tremendous keeper for us!!

Anyone actually think that hughton would make forster our number one next year? I mean he is gonna have far more 1st team experience than krul when harper finally leaves next year hopefully.

Thankfully id say this will be his last season and we'll have Krul and Forster as 1 and 2. Id also imagine it will be Nolan and Smiths last season with us too...although both were class yesterday!!
