I just cant see us losing this one. Aye Villa have pace but we are an organised unit and using the first half against ManURe then we should be able to withstand villas threat and stay strong. True. Thing is we are lining up the exact same...looking to scrape by and with CH's tactics and team selections we will be found out in no time at all. We need new ideas and we need to show a little bit of guts and ambition with our tranfer targets and team selections. Frustrating as fuck...i am actually annoyed at the thought of Nolan, Smith and Barton playon week in week out and its simply down to the fact CH doesnt have the balls to say "lads thanks for your efforts last season but we need to move on" by all means keep them here for one more year as backup but let them go if we get offers. If CH and FMA were serious about sustaining a PL rep and had any ambition then a new Central midfield pairing and a decent striker would be top of the agenda.

Early days i know but this is pissing me off. I think it was OzToonFan who also mentioned it but for us to get the best out of Carroll we need a consistent partner to play and build and understanding with. Without this then there will be too much burden on AC which could lead to poor performances and people wrongly writing him off. Understandably some will think that if he is to be good enough he should be able to handle that pressure and strive under it but lets nkt forget his is 21. He needs a decent strike partner. This leads me onto Nolan and CH's insistance of playing him. Yes he done well last year but he is NOT PL standard and is holding back the growth of the team and developement of other players. He should be used sparingly. CH's tactics will be found out all to soon if he is to continue with the brand we played in the CCC. Good managers adapt tactics and formations to get the best out of individuals to aid the team. Right now i just see the same Newcastle as last year. We all know that investment is needed to properly improve but good managers find ways to work with what they have, CH done this well last year but needs new ideas this season. Go with Lovenkrands and Carroll....look for another striker too. Go with Smith and Guthrie...bring in ben arfa! Have a technique coach work with JG and WR extensively on final ball. One thing i will give praise for which was pleasing last night is we still have that battling attitude and on the most part we did look organised. Like i said its early days but clearly alot to work on.

As a footballer carroll looked good last night, worked harder than iv seen him do, put himself about and looked hungry. That said, as a striker he look poor, missed an absolute sitter, the type of chance we HAVE to take if are to do well this season. That was just one game however, i still feel he has alot to offer and alot to learn at the same time but he is wearing the number nine, has the hunger and the potential to be a big big player for us its just all to easy for people, fans and media alike to expect to much and judge unfairly this season. He needs a good partner to shoulder half the respobsibilty. Also...Barton is shit as too is Nolan. Smith worked hard but its evident our midfield clearly isny upto scratch. Our best midfield pairin has to be gosling (when fit) and guthrie.

Nolan guthrie or nolan barton most weeks then? Or Nolan carroll against top 4 teams.... Im overjoyed!

I too dont think Perch looks much good but its true that he needs time to settle so time will tell. In my opinion i actually quite like Simpson and think he will turn out to be a pretty good RB.

Aye he would be a class signing but i wont lose no sleep if it doesnt come off. After all do you think CH would drop anyone to accomodate him if he signed? I can only think he would play behind Carroll in the 'Nolan' role and play Nolan and Guthrie in the middle.

Carroll and Lovenkrands will do fine, Shola as back up but we do need another option upfront ideally with pace. Lookin at todays performance though its evident that we knock the ball round well but are struggling to create chances for our strikers. Dont think Guthrie and Barton works...i mite get slated for this but im startin to think we need to sit Smith infront of the back four and let either JB, DG or KN roam in the final third.

I actually think he has been one if our best player so far...that said he and gutierrez are going to be heavily relied on for support so they both need to step up in terms of final ball.

As well as the toon who else are you following through the divisions and abroad? Myself il be keeping an eye out for Norwich City, Celtic, PSG, Barca, Juve and Ajax.
