My main concern with Kelly is he’s seemed to struggle with injury’s the last 2 seasons, so out of the two I’d lean more towards signing Tosin.

It’s not really a surprise the media are all over our best players leaving, they’re fucking desperate. I find this story of a wage reduction for missing out on the CL to be a bit weird given that we hadn’t qualified for CL football when he signed for us (and it was a massive longshot), unless he got an increased wage and now it’s dropping? But seems a little weird to put in when signing for a club that at the time was far off CL spots. From the clubs side he’s probably the last player we should ever think about selling. Strikers are one of the hardest positions to fill never mind one who is arguably world class (or at least heading towards that bracket).

In reaction to all of the above Newcastle have simply asked the terms of the contract be met, some rumours state they may have even shaved 25% off the fee (despite having no reason to do so), and this makes us unreasonable? Maybe the correct approach would have been to show some fucking respect, approach the club immediately and negotiate from there? You know like we did with Brighton and we still ended up paying £6m and him having 8 month or so leave…

Agree with this. I’m buzzing Big Joe looks set to stay as he sets the aggressive tone in a lot of games, and I see him as our squads utility player as he can really play across midfield and attack. Keeping Bruno is the next key item, we absolutely have to keep him imo as it would be very hard to replace a player with his skill set - we should be building around him and moving others on to make FFP room. I think Man City looks unlikely now they look to be making their move for Paqueta, and hopefully having Joelinton commit might sway him to have another run at the CL spots next season.

The fuss about Mainoo reminds me of when McTominay broke through and they constantly hyped up his performances, Mourinho even giving him player of the year iirc . Fwiw he seems a tidy enough player but I agree I see absolutely nothing that points to him being a bigger talent than Miley. He’s an undersized defensive midfielder, compared to Miley who has a big frame and is clearly learning how to use it, I’ve also seen a far better range of passing from Miley whereas Mainoo tends to do short sideways and backward types of passes. Again though Mainoo plays for Man U so this will go on for years, there’s a reason players like Kieran Richardson and Tom Cleverley have England caps.
