Who said it was a failure LM? Im trying to read this thread as a discussion and you keep confusing the fuck out of me by replying to points that weren't made. Stop it man, I've had a long day!

There certainly players Id get rid of before him and he has done a canny job. To say he is the best in the league is way off though.

Must admit I was there and would say I'm 95% sure I remember people booing. The truth is there were many boos, it was a 1-1 draw with Wolves, we played shit Shearer missed a penalty, everyone was fucked off because a Liverpool team even worse than they are now, beat us to 4th spot after our pathetic 3-3 draw at Southampton. Everyone booed and 90% fucked off, I was one of them which is when SBR came out with his ungrateful bastards crack. I remember it well. Because I was one that fucked off. I never boo, but I wasnt going to stand and clap as I was fucked off at the game. The game itself was a let down, not the season as a whole. I reckon 5% would be high, but if it was 5% we're saying 95% of people didnt boo.

Leazes has a very valid point about the agent fees and wages being part of £23m income gained from transfers. It's the one thing that will always grate on me with these "chumps". No other club manages their fiscal policy like this in the top flight or ever has. You could put an argument up for agents fees, but wages? No fucking way. But, who gives a fuck? you can play with numbers all day if it keeps you happy but most find it tedious as owt. Forget what happens with this quid and that. Is the playing element of the club better than it was after the sale of AC? Yes. Good, sorted. Next question?

what do you think will happen this summer ? The same as you thought was going to happen last summer ? I think if a HUGE offer comes in, we'll sell someone like Tiote, but he'll be replaced and the club will go onwards and upwards. My thinking to the T. I reckon a few of the kids will be sold / released / not renewed etc and some of the fringe players. Then maybe one big player to be sold. However, I expect the squad to be stronger than it is now for it.

LM, I genuinely dont recall anyone booing when we came 5th. Happy to be proven wrong if you can link me to any article.

One of my favourites i couldn't have got it more wrong, i'm happy to say. but the prediction didn't feel that silly at the time - we'd just sold key senior players and bought in a bunch most of us had never heard of. it didn't sound like the recipe for success but fair play to all involved - it worked a treat. i'm hoping this summer we hang on to our players and build the squad rather than selling the senior pros again. if that happens, i'll be making a much more confident prediction this summer. i think he strategy was a bit of a gamble last summer - selling a bunch of senior players is unlikely to work every year. last summer was the equivalent of us selling tiote, ba and colocini this summer. But we replaced with better players, so by your comment that would be equal to us replacing them with better I actually can see many fringe players going and maybe one we wouldnt want to lose but maybe 3 genuine first teamers joining.

Without reading the thread properly, I think they have to play in red next season...

Few years back I went to Brazil, also went down to the border of Argentina to see the Iguassu falls (you have to cross the border in to Argentina to get the best view). Few years, a wedding and two kids later and Im going up to the Caravan in amble for a week next week Pick your own moral out of that one.

Fucking choice of words! In all seriousness though, I have two bairns and shit like this makes me sick in the stomach. Wor lass only lets her mother watch them, though we moved to Durham so dont have any family close by and just wouldnt let a stranger watch them. I can imaging your situation though, natural instinct says find the bloke and whack him in the bollocks with a sledgehammer. Like said, glad your kids weren't involved but I'd hate more than anything to be a parent of kids who were.

I have done YOUR thing.

I agree to a degree with PL and LM here. While I think our first team could do ok in the Europa, all it would do is add stress to tired players. Tired players = injured players. The only way I'd want us to get in to Europe is with a stronger squad. Fine, let 5 players go that we dont see now (smith etc) but replace them with 3 we would use. Then in Europe you would have to rotate the squad. The situation we have now at CB would see us kicked out of Europe quickly and our league would suffer because of it. That said, its unlucky to loose your starting two CHs. But then the ACN will come about and we have no forwards (worth mentioning). I'd like to see us back in Europe, but I can only see first time around will be another lesson learned by the club. Need the squad for it.

in view of everything I've tried to explain, this is a pointless question which only proves you haven't tried to understand a single word. Why not have both ? And who would you rather have at left back, Jose Enrique or Jonas Guittierez ? JUST ANSWER THE FUCKING QUESTION!!!!!!!! I will. B. By a fucking mile. Only down side is we need someone in to cover in the next ACN. I could take losing Ba or Cisse, but not both.

Agreed.

You're using hindsight, anybody can use hindsight. Certain other posters do it all the time. At the time, they backed their manager, and tried to get Ferdinand and it took 6 months to get him [not 18 and we still haven't seen the money, don't you think that we are not going to see it now and it was never the intention accordingly ? This is the bigger picture. A progressive club would have bought a centre half in January for starters with a european place on the horizon and cash in the bank waiting to be spent, even a small amount on a short term deal while waiting for the guy they want [which incidentally was done after the sale of Cole ie Kitson]. And we still haven't replaced Enrique btw. 18 months? We got Ba after 5 months and Cisse after 12? The club said they tried to sign others but failed so waited for Cisse who they wanted. Bit like KK waited to sign Ferdinand. For the LB I kind of agree. Im not sure what the intention of Santon was. I think he is a RB but can play LB but could be a shrewd investment, but does need time. But dont forget that Enrique wanted to leave, our hand was forced. He wouldnt even discuss a contract. But we have chased Pieters for ages now and it may be that we are finally getting the man the manager wants. I also dont understand your "not seen the money" comment? Do you mean we havent spent the money from AC? or that we havent spent all of it? I think from previous threads its shown that is pretty much all done but again we need to agree to disagree on this bit. The short term investment I assumed was Ba while they tried to sign Miaga or whatever he was called.

So, Cole was sold in Jan 95 and Ferdinand brought in what was it, 6 months later or something? Then we got Ginola. So the fans were up in arms because we sold our top scorer to our main rival and only after 6 months did we maybe start to see the bigger picture? AC was sold in Jan 11. 6 months later or whatever we brought in Ba (12 months for Cisse). Both out performing AC. So, with that in mind, can you see why some fans are now starting to see the bigger picture?
