Campbell is usually fit enough to actually get on the pitch?
-
Not having seen much of him before he came here, I was surprised how sluggish he looked. He seems to do a lot of the good things which midfielder should do but just not quite well enough...apart from being a dickhead which he's excelled at so far. Is there a player in there or is it just hype?

Words fail me.

For fuck sake You could put together a better compilation of Shola than that. I know fuck all about Italian football but I'm sure we could do better than this. Man City are interested in Lukas Podolski, and he might go, why aren't we? Well I can only comment on what I've seen which is the video. He looks like a cross between Berbatov and Crouch in that. The fact he's scoring goals in Serie A doesn't reflect badly on him either. I don't know anything about Podolski, so can't really comment.
-
He's scored 8 in 16 games for Lazio. Why would they let him go? Are they shite now?
-
Will always be a crock IMO. Always and forever.
-
Looks class in as much as I can tell from that video. He's got fantastic close control for a big guy.

These Ashton/Richards/Bentley stories are just covers of what the real targets are. Come Thursday/Friday and all of a sudden BAM!!! NEWCASTLE SIGN SUCH AND SUCH. Or, in the case of the southern press: SMALL DELUSIONAL CLUB SIGN TOP PLAYER, WHO HAS MADE A BIG MISTAKE GOING THERE. ooh the pain...the pain!
-
I'm just a bit concerned about the lack of pace for some of our supposed transfer targets. Ashton and Bentley are ok in their own right, but I think we need an injection of pace in both those areas. In any case I think we should be aiming higher.
-
what the hell are you going on about? It may just be my dislike for Bentley talking, but I think he'd be a flop. I agree, I think he's a bit over-rated. He's no quicker than Milner, and less good at dribbling. The end product is better though, but he's not a Champions league signing.

N-O's policies I don't have a problem with. The people in charge there tend to have a habit of picking minor faults with posts, then using those opinions expressed in the post to present the same exact views themselves worded slightly differently. Maybe they think N-O members are too thick to work it out for themselves?

They might come in handy when he gets the Newcastle job. Eventually. Doubtfull. One season of practical experience would outweigh anything he might have learnt off Trevor Brooking at summer camp. Doing well with a small club didn't mean much when Allardyce came here did it?
-
Jenas always looked a good footballer ability-wise, lacks a bit of determination and ambition, a bit like Milner IMO.

Didn't see the game, just wondering how Jenas got on? I had a few arguments with HTL on N-O about his merits. He couldn't stand him, but then he thought Lee Bowyer was a good midfielder.

Keegan could probably do with someone alongside who'll offer a different perspective. I think Shearer would have more to offer than Kev's pet monkey, Terry Mac.
-
Shearer is only going to give up his tv punditry - if you could call it that - for a big job with plenty of money to spend. FWIW I think he would be great as a no 2 here, whether Keegan offers him that role, and he wants it is a different matter.
-
Laughable isn't it? Deride the geordies for not giving Allardyce enough time to disillusion everyone other than his bank manager, but one game in for Keegan and it's time to get the knives out. Them and Us? With shit like this constantly being churned out it can hardly be anything else.
-
An inventive midfielder and a pacy right winger would be a higher priority for me.
-
James Lawton's done a good article on this in the Independent. Basically sayng that Shearer should make it clear whether he wants to stay in tv, or be a manager. Because if he wants to be a manager he needs to start applying for some jobs, not just hang around like a millstone over whoever's in the hot seat at St James.
-
Beckhams delivery is class, but we would need to inject pace into other areas of our attack, because too many of our players are lacking it. Milner being one.
-
The irony is unless Keegan wins something he'll be dubbed a failure. Don't get me wrong, while Moyes has done a decent job at Everton, he's done it mostly by building a solid, workmanlike side. Despite Arteta, a flair team they are not, and like Allardyce, I can't see him being able to transform his football ethos to become one. Man U and Arsenal are the teams to aspire to style-wise, and with Keegan you know we'll try and do that. Even if we finish top 6 playing the right way, that counts as success to me. Only SBR has managed it since Keegan last managed here so it's no mean feat.
