  1. Keegan looked a bit like he'd just woken up from a long sleep tbh. I'm expecting by tomorrow's press conference he'll be sounding battle cries in the direction of Wenger and Fergie. It wouldn't be Keegan otherwise.
  2. Aye. He was the only miserable cunt at St James Park last night, and that was after a win.
  3. Hard to see how Keegan would know which players he wants having been out of the game so long. In any case, I reckon we have a pretty decent squad to get us by seeing as we aren't going anywhere this season. Perfect for getting Keegers feet under the table and then launching an all out assault in the summer. Oh yes the assault is coming and it has been a long time coming and for this the coming won't be like before it has been away replenished its ferric self, its magnetic coils - the dark sleeping universe will bend to its will.....It is here...Don't you feel it? As far as I'm concerned Keegan's got some unfinished business to take care of

  5. You've left Ashley out of the equation. It is one thing when we scheme and dream in the pub over a few pints, it is a whole other thing when a billionaire gets involved in the dream game. If the money is forthcoming I can see little stopping us playing good football and enagaging the top 4. I don't even think it will take that long. I hope the £50m being talked about is a starting point. To compete with the big boys Keegan will need at least that. If he gets it, you can bet some of those big boys will start looking over their shoulder.
  6. Shearer could be just the answer in one way. He'd provide pragmatism to Keegan's fantasy. The problem is, he's too cold to buy into the dream and wants the glory for himself. Keegan and the board need everyone on the same side, I'm just not convinced Shearer would want to be part of it. Hasn't exactly sent out any 'come and get me' pleas has he?
  7. What have we got to lose when you think about it? Despite the predictable cynicism in much of the press, Keegan will first and foremost get the best out of these players who are far better than Allardyce made them look. With Keegan back Newcastle are big Box Office again, that will be worth it's worth in gold and Ashley's not stupid, he'll have considered it. And who's to say anyone else was going to be a guaranteed success anyway?
  8. Big Al did quite well there but all he really said was if contacted, he would speak to Keegan. So I don't think he'll be here under wor Kev.
  9. The Zog and Duff had probably their best games of the season so far. There's enough quality in this squad for Keegan to work his magic in the short term. After that we'll see. What was the alternative? BSA's 5 year plan to become Bolton?
  10. It could only happen at this club and the daft thing is it will work. Already everyone else outside of Newcastle is talking about how Keegan never won anything which is totally missing the point! This is Entertainment!
  11. maybe he couldn't fit any more in his wallet?
  12. Houllier - good choice with reservations if he's past it. Deschamps - no idea Van Gaal - too bigh-headed to come here. Unrealistic Hughes - the best all-rounder Keegan - just no. Shearer & Keegan - wouldn't work together by all accounts Shearer - could do a job but is undermining the new regime. Fuck off. Hitzfeld - not coming. Mourinho - ditto Abel Braga - he's the Brazilian right?
  13. you'd best add Camacho to that list. According to Marca he'll be our manager for 2008-09. Didn't he star in some film recently about a Mexican wrestler?
  14. Hughes for me. Least risky bet, right type of character.
  15. There is some logic to that. You could imagine continental managers being far happier in London, and Deschamps turned down City because there were no French schools (none here either). French managers have done relatively well in England though, Houllier, Wenger and Tigana initially at least. Then you wopuldn't imagine Rafa would have fitted in with the culture of Liverpool either but..
  16. Shearer might well turn out to be a decent manager, but there are too many unknowns. Who would form his backroom staff? Does he have too many ties to the old guard? His mates are Fat Fred, Dalglish and Souness. I don't think it will have went down well with the new regime that Alan Oliver was spilling the beans on national tv about the phone call Mort made to Shearer in Barbados either. Shearer is playing the press and using his popularity to force the board's hand. For that reason alone I don't think he'll get offered the job.
  17. Plus he isn't a thick, fat bastard which will probably hold him in good stead.
  18. If those are the words of a football novice, it's a shame his predecessor was so 'experienced'. It's pr bollocks. This is the same man who dropped his pants for Nappy. I think that was Ashley, on account of being mates with Kemsley.
  19. If those are the words of a football novice, it's a shame his predecessor was so 'experienced'.
  20. People above him forcing signings on him IIRC Cheers. So he wasn't sacked then. This looks promising as someone has obviously put a word in for Deshcamps, probably Houllier as mentioned earlier.
  21. Only time will tell. The timing of the sacking leaves a lot to be desired. Very much straight out of Shepherd's book. Hardly. Shepherd would sack a manager a few games in, fucking up an entire season. Mort is merely calling time on a season which died a month ago. Assuming we can stay out of the relegation mess, the rest of this season could prove a good springboard for the next campaign giving the new man time to take stock.
