  1. to buy better players of course Torres what was your opinion on the game last night and were you impressed with Robbie Keanes "performance"? He only played a half but looked lively. He seemed kinda nervous and fluffed a good chance; will prove to be a terrific signing for us though. I was even more impressed with N'gog who is a very interesting prospect at 19 ... a steal at 1.5 million. I thought your best player (I only saw the first half) was that young defender. Probably says something about your performance last night. It's a pre-season friendly ffs ... Darby and Spearing look like very good prospects, but the ones to watch are Nemeth and Pachero (another Torres in the making). Did L.O. beat your lot? (I wouldn't have watched it even if it were worthy of coverage). Darby, that was it. He looked alright. No we beat Orient 5-1. 7 goals in two games for the might Bent. Robbie who? Bent ... we were strongly linked with him a season or two ago.So glad that didn't happen.

  3. Arshavin is going cause more hassle than hes worth if he keeps playing well imo, from janaury to now his head/ego has fairly inflated, 100k a week... what a pisstake "Newcastle have been told by Deportivo La Coruna to cough up £10m if they want defender Fabricio Coloccini while Spurs are also said to be chasing the Argentine. (Various)" there was me joking about that the other day too =D I agree. 100k a week for him is madness.

  5. Joey Barton has spoken out for the first time about his punishment; "The first day's the toughest, no doubt about it. They march you in, hand you your uniform and force you to pose for the photographer while loads of obese, tattooed, clueless skinheads shout abuse at you. That's when you know it's for real. A whole life blown away in the blink of an eye. Nothing left but all the time in the world to think about it. That's when it hits home. That's when you realise you've signed for Newcastle."
  6. 5th and 6th in the PL next season? I'm going for Pompey and City with Neverton finishing a close 7th.
  7. to buy better players of course
  8. Torres ... not being a cock ... Really, do you think a part fool/part alcoholic/part wife beater could really make it as a top level coach? He has some serious issues and would nit be a great influence on younger players. Imagine trying to keep a straight face if he told you to lose a few kilos.
  9. Gazza ... coaching ...
  10. I'm intersted in signing a creative playmaker all this other stuff bores me tbh. For the record, i think Modric will have a shit season and get injured. Oh dear. Probably best not to say things of that nature "on the record"
  11. That's partially why I believe Benitez won't win the title - Torres aside, he seems unable to sign players of the quality that Man Utd and Chelsea have. His desire to spend nearly £40m on two very good but not great premiership players reinforces this. It's a bit puzzling because I thought previously that he was trying to do it on the cheap, but apparently Liverpool are willing to splash the cash - just on the wrong players! Like you'd know! Why am I any less qualified to comment than you? You haven't been seriously in the title race for years, Rafa can't or won't sign players that are good enough also has his rotation system that may save legs for end of season cup runs but is impossible to win the league with. It is not that you are less qualified than me, it's simply that you're not making any sense at all. Yup, logic and the truth = no sense. Except for the mere fact that what he says contains no logic whatsoever.

  13. From Today's Guardian.............. Keegan lays down the law but is prepared to stand by jailed BartonLouise Taylor at the Keepmoat Stadium The Guardian, Monday July 28 2008 Article historyKevin Keegan was back in his home town on Saturday and spent much of the afternoon renewing old acquaintances. "I've met a school friend I used to walk home with," enthused Newcastle United's manager after a 1-0 friendly defeat by Doncaster. "I didn't recognise him at first." Keegan may look a youthful 57-year-old but time has changed him too. The 1990s idealist has morphed into a hard-headed pragmatist more inclined towards surprisingly earnest analysis of defensive tactics and sports science than passionate discourses on "entertainment". With money tight on Tyneside, Newcastle's manager is hoping to compensate for a slim, shallow squad by creating possibly the Premier League's fittest team. Moreover he intends to spend the majority of whatever cash is available on defenders and has resolved to offer Joey Barton yet another chance when the midfielder is released from prison after serving time for assault next month. "People have opinions and you must respect that," said Keegan. "But mine is to give him another chance and back him. There are a lot of things he needs to put right but I think he can do it. He's served his sentence, he's been punished. As long as he does things right and starts to rebuild the confidence of the people around him, I'll stand by him." Although Keegan's enduring optimism is manifested by his belief that Michael Owen will shortly agree a new contract, he now seems to acknowledge that defence is the best form of attack. Accordingly Newcastle have made bids or inquiries for at least five defenders, including Arsenal's Philippe Senderos, Deportivo La Coruña's Fabricio Coloccini, Internazionale's Nicolás Burdisso, Blackburn's Stephen Warnock and Liverpool's Emiliano Insúa. Although Real Madrid's Julio Baptista remains on his radar, Keegan is not exactly banking on the arrival of the sort of attacking creator Newcastle crave and accepts that perspiration may prove as important as inspiration this season. "We might not have the biggest or best squad but we can be the fittest," he said. Keegan has duly hired a new conditioning expert, Mark Hulse, and, uncharacteristically, rationed pre-season ballwork. "This pre-season is right up there with the hardest that players have ever done," revealed Alan Smith. "But we're light on numbers so we have to be as physically fit as possible. "We haven't done that much with the ball, we've not done a lot of football work - which you could probably tell - but the gaffer's emphasised that, with the size of our squad, we need to be athletes." Smith remains concerned about a lack of cover beneath the veneer of a strong first XI. "That's our biggest worry," he agreed. "We've got quality but, more and more at this level, football's a squad game." Saturday's absentees included the bereaved Obafemi Martins and convalescent Owen, who is making a slow recovery from mumps and may miss the team's trip to Mallorca this week. Owen has made it clear that he is frustrated by Newcastle's persistent stalling over contract extension negotiations but Keegan insists he anticipates a speedy resolution. Indeed he expects his captain, whose current agreement expires next June, to sign a new deal in the "next two or three weeks". This could involve Mike Ashley, Newcastle's owner, compromising his demand that Owen accepts a wage cut but Keegan stressed. "I know Michael wants to stay and I know we want to keep him." 14. Like you'd know! Do you actually remember the last time you won the title? As in did you actually experience it? Yes I do. Yes I did. I can remember as far back as 1982.
  15. Smith is one of the worst players I've seen in an England shirt. The worst was Paul Robinson.
  16. Good signing for them at that price, versatile competitive player.
  17. A. Berbatov is going. B. Keane is going. C. You are a selling club. D. You are forever in Arsenal's shadow. E. Sod off. ... feeding fuckin' squirels
  18. ... and every club has it's little bitches (English in this case)
  19. There isnt a club on this planet that would give 120K/week free or not, he is a 60/70K player, he has to come to terms with that. A fuck your chances of being a going concern in the future? :icon_lol:
  20. You did say as well that it would 'never happen' No i didnt you pleb. Yes you did ... you feeder-club bitch ... http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?...;hl=&st=150
  21. You did say as well that it would 'never happen' ... hope you didn't bet your last bob on that! He'll be a better player at a far better club with far better players around him ... wait and see.
  22. There's more than 2 involved ... you are well capable of 'facinating stuff' yourself it has to be said. Isn't it funny then how you both knew exactly who I was on about? Easy ... you're too bias to critical of your own crowd no matter how idiotic they become. In English please. I doubt you can keep up in any language. It's like shelling peas with you sunshine I can imagine that being equally tough for you.
  23. for 20 million? Obviously they'd prefer to have gotten him for less than the 18m I believe they've payed, but I'd still be quite pleased with it if I were a Pool fan. Much better value than Barry would have been for a similiar price, and like I said he's pretty much a cert to get them goals and improve their first team, rarely injured either as far as I recall. So yeah, decent signing as far as I can see. Well said.
