  1. Made one great sliding tackle near the end where he cleanly won the ball, regained possession, and started running up the field. Surely is one of the best right backs in the League right now.
  2. He's done it quite a bit hasn't he -- Willo, Perch, Shola, Ryan Taylor. Am I missing anyone?
  3. Read something that said he's managed about 25 months of the last 6 years of contracts he's been given!
  4. Pardew's said this regarding our potential transfer targets. Any thoughts on who this might be? The player we've looked at 15 times may not be English/local. Thoughts? “One of the players we are looking at for the summer we have looked at 15 times. “It is about technical ability, character and whether they will fit in. “We need more English players and more local boys.”
  5. Here's Moussa bloodying the nose of the referee: instagram.com/p/h6R0l0LQ3m/
  6. When and why did he get banned? I don't recall.
  7. Most sources are saying Debuchy will be fit to play. From SkySports: However, Cabaye's French team-mate, Mathieu Debuchy, returns to the squad following a hip injury, while Ryan Taylor remains sidelined with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
  8. Newcastle 4 - 4 Arsenal. The topsy-turviness of our seasons in 90 minutes. Shambolic defending, incredible passion, and ultimately a so-so result after the dust settles.
  9. I would be tempted to play Ben Arfa in the role that Cabaye played last match against Man Utd. Hatem looked well up for it in his appearance against Man U, and he offers much more creativity than a midfield duo of Tiote-Anita.

Think this needs a "No, Gemmill" tag on it, no?
  11. Could he play Ben Arfa there perhaps? In the same formation with Tiote/Anita mopping up, Ben Arfa could play well in a similar role.
  12. We played the right way in the first half - they were always going to have more possession than us, and they hit us on the break. Unlucky to concede a goal just before halftime, and then unlucky again to not have a penalty to make it 1-1. We fell apart a bit after that, and Shelvey's effort going in off Debuchy was unfortunate though deserved. If Remy's header hadn't been saved magnificently by Vorm things would be a lot different. Have to take this on the chin and move on.
  13. Hopefully he's picked up a knock - can't be good news if Pardew has deliberately kept him out of the squad.
  14. Krul; Debuchy, Williamson, Coloccini, Santon; Sissoko, Tiote, Cabaye, Gouffran; Shola Ameobi, Remy. Not sure how I feel about Shola starting 3 games in 1 week. Would much rather have had him sit out today so he's fit for Manchester United on Saturday - he was key when we beat them 3-0 in 2011/12.
  15. I disagree!!! Manchester United are actually beatable for the first time in decades. We should go at them with everything we have.
  16. I'd give Cisse a start in lieu of either Shola or Remy, and I'd swap in HBA for Sissoko. Cabaye, Gouff, and Remy/Shola should get only 60-70 minutes.
  17. Was watching this interview with Pardew ahead tomorrow's match, and it seems that around :55 - 1:00, he says Galterriez instead of Gutierrez when referencing Jonas. Subtle dig at Joe Kinnear? Or accidental mispronunciation? What do you lot think? http://www.theguardian.com/football/video/2013/dec/02/newcastle-united-alan-pardew-swansea-video?INTCMP=ILCNETTXT3487
  18. Was thinking today about the plethora of players we've been linked to over the last 2-3 years that we ended up not signing. I'm not talking about every speculation, but the ones we were in with a genuine shot for, may even have gotten our hopes up for, only to be dashed at the end. Thought it would be interesting to look at where they are now, post players I've missed! Modibo Maiga - Was set to join us in January of 2012, but failed a medical. We ended up with Cisse instead, and Maiga has scored four goals in 20 matches for the Hammers. Erik Pieters - Seemed to be certain to sign in the summer of 2012, even attending our first match of the season against Spurs. Since that move fell through, he injured himself for three months by punching a window and then signed for Stoke last summer. Has made 13 appearances for Stoke, no idea if he's been any good. Darren Bent - Bent's free transfer this past summer was allegedly scrapped by Joe Kinnear's unprofessional meeting with him and his reps. Has scored a modest 3 in 13 since signing for Fulham, but I feel it's hard to see where he would've fit in our current system. Douglas - We were linked with Douglas for a few consecutive transfer windows, only for an agreed free transfer to be called off by JFK this summer. He joined Dinamo Moscow and has made 11 appearances, and no one seems to have any clue if he's been good or not. Probably somewhere in the middle. Bafetimbi Gomis - Ended up not signing him after a whirlwind of allegations from owners, agents, players, etc., all seemed to contradict why it didn't go through. He's scored 5 in 13 appearances and we've been tipped to go back in for him in the January transfer window. Any others you can think of? I'm not counting the likes of Aubameyang as we never really stood a chance of signing him any way, at least in my opinion.
  19. Silly article - he uses the evidence to suit his preconceived argument. It's not a question of players being known or not - you have plenty of players who have been well known but not signed by English clubs. It's about spotting talent and seeing that they have the qualities to succeed in the Premier League. In this day and age you're not going to just find some unheard of player that will perform incredibly out of nowhere - there's just too much exposure. So buying a player like Cisse, who had not attracted major interest from a bigger club, and having him do as well as he did in his first half season definitely qualifies as a scouting success. Pure sensationalism!
  20. I think it's more likely he'll go to Manchester United. With the lack of creative quality they have in midfield they'll jump at a player with Premier League experience who can provide that.
  21. That was me! First Newcastle match was The friendly at Darlo, had a run on during the invasion and on my way to greet Cabaye and say "this is my first Newcastle match too", I slipped on the grass and slide tackled a fellow supporter. Luckily he didn't smash my face in. Then a few weeks later I saw Joey Barton get Gervinho sent off.
  22. Shola's hold-up play has been outstanding thus far. Great first touches and has been phenomenal at taking the ball down from the air.
  23. Also - looks like MYM was at left back for about 5 minutes and has now switched back over? Anyone else see this?
