  1. Bit of a shame Campbell is on loan for this, I would've quite liked to have seen a front four of: -------------Campbell Sammy-----Vuckic------(Obertan/HBA/Marv) From the limited sample of seeing them play, I get the sense that Vuckic tucked in right behind Campbell could work. At least would be interesting to see.
  2. That's the most likely result. And I'd be surprised if it's scored by anyone other than Shola.
  3. Let's do a swap deal for Cabaye of Sahko + cash? That wouldn't be too bad, and then everyone's happy!
  4. Campbell on the bench for Carlisle tonight...
  5. Against Metalist in the second leg, where Shola scored the penalty to win it 1-0. Not exactly an awe inspiring strike duo.
  6. I was born down in Canterbury, and moved to New York when I was little. I loved baseball growing up, but was hooked by football after watching the 2006 World Cup. My Granddad (a Geordie) had bought me a Newcastle jersey when I was about 9 years old, so then when I was in my teens and wanted a club to support, Newcastle seemed the logicial, familial choice. There's the added bonus that my childhood baseball team, the New York Mets, shares many characteristics with Newcastle, mainly being a team of perennial underachievers that has fantastic, passionate support.
  7. Apparently was in a Nice airport today, along with Carr and JFK. (This info courtesy of Tom, btw)
  8. Jozy Altidore to score 10+ goals Spurs to finish 2nd Mike Ashley to sell the club within the next 12 months.
  9. Krul and Ben Arfa are the only things to feel positive about at the moment.
  10. I wouldn't be so sure - Arsenal have money to spend and desperately need to make a splash. It'll definitely be more than £10 mil
  11. Fucking great. That said I'd sell for £25 mil or £18 plus Ramsey
  12. So wait - we're going to wear this kit to play in but only certain fans can buy it? I don't understand .
  13. Of course. Was making an argument for why Ince/Sinclair would be great acquisitions, not for a second suggesting that we'll ever actually sign them! And wasn't Anita more of a Tiote replacement than Cabaye?
  14. Remy's recovering from an injury at the moment, and the likes of him and Ben Arfa will all likely miss spells this season, as that's been the pattern in their previous seasons. Of course Remy would be the first choice, but having one of Sinclair and Ince would provide a genuine attacking weapon off the bench as well as cover for the inevitable injuries of Remy/HBA. And I don't think it is quite far-fetched, and is coming from more than just FM fanboyishness. Hasn't Ben Arfa been playing through the middle in a 4-2-3-1 during a few of these pre-season games? And you're right that should've been drop Sissoko back to partner Cabaye. I loathe posting formation schematics, but my idea is basically this: --------Cisse Remy--HBA--Sinclair/Ince ------Cabaye--Sissoko Against weaker teams at home, I think that could be quite effective. But both you and HHman are right. It's unlikely Ashley will make an outlay for these players just to have them as alternatives. But then again, we did buy Anita!
  15. Very interested to see how Soldado and Paulinho do at Spurs, especially if Bale stays. On paper they're the exact players Spurs have needed.
  16. Both could play in the LW position that Remy is expecting to play in the front of a 4-3-3. Could also, drop Cabaye back to partner Sissoko, bring Ben Arfa into the middle, and play Sinclair or Ince on the right, which could be good at home against lesser teams.
  17. A pre-season on the same level as the one before we finished fifth. Everything will be ok. We won't get relegated, we'll beat some good teams, and we'll finish between 7th and 12th. No need to worry, it's much more fun if you're postive. Try it!
  18. Of the three forwards we've been linked with Remy is certainly the most exciting. Have to give credit to the management if this gets done, even if it is so close to the start of the season.
  19. I haven't seen much, but from the few videos I have seen he seems to look more comfortable with the ball at his feet in the box than Cisse. At least the Cisse of last season.
  20. Exactly. As far as I can recall the ONLY instance of that happening was with Carroll. If you're referring to Ba or Enrique, I'll think you'll find that Pardew acknowledged their capacity to go but expressed his determination to hang on to them. In both cases it was the player who wanted out, so I fail to see where that allegation comes from.
  21. Nope, although I have been able squeeze into a youth XL! Thanks for checking, I appreciate it
  22. I went with 'kit' first, but that didn't bring up anything at all! Will try 'shirt', thanks everyone.
  23. Correction - found some but they're long-sleeved with name and numbers on the back, and cost £50. I'll keep looking for a cheaper option!
  24. I don't believe so - and that kit is Adidas, the one I'm talking about is Puma from 11/12. And having trawled through ebay's 'Newcastle jersey' listings I couldn't find it at all!
