Just don't forget about this when your mate starts spouting crap next transfer window and you're tempted to believe him again. In the...

I've not seen it mentioned anywhere, but Gordon was still on his 5 year contract at Everton that he signed as a 19 year old academy graduate who was just breaking into the first team. He's on comparative peanuts (sub 15k a week) which is a big part of why he wanted to leave. Everton baulked at improving his contract even after they avoided relegation which tells you just how poor their financial position is. They were either hoping to retain him on low wages or to sell him off. What it means for us is he doesn't go close to damaging our wage structure and his overall cost, despite the high initial price, is not as impactful to our FFP position as an older player of similar price would be. From everything I've seen of him the kid's a catalyst on the pitch which will be very welcome. He'll be eager to play for a team that's not holding up the league and Howe will embrace the challenge of getting the most out of him.

I slowed it down to confirm, the cunning prick drove in and then shortly after reversed back out.

Whilst we might play the long game for the most part the long game is a bit too late for a potential cup final in a month, or a season where top four could greatly accellerate the planned progress. If someone goes they'll either be replaced or will have been wholly surplus to requirements in the first place which Maxi is patently not. Your pal might gen sniffs of real info, but there's no way he's close enough to the top to see what is tightly held information. Howe, who is notoriously tight lipped, has already contradicted that summary. I would agree though that the plan has always been to do most of our business in the summer, but circumstances changes that (cup final, position in league) to the point where it would be foolish to be rigid in approach.

And Catts for me like

If that was the case Bruno would have smoothed it over and big Joe would have been all good.

The era of "man in the know" is effectively over. Shelvey is still injured so don't see why getting him to leave would be any sort of priority when there's other even more dead wood in the roster. Getting Maxi out without any incomings would be flat out madness.

French confirmed as twats. I hope Bruno goes on to be a club legend. Passionate, down to earth, humble and a bloody good player.

Yeah, he got 12 months (reduced to 9 if he attends something) and approx £30,000 fine.
-
Nice bit of revenue raising (which I am fine with), is a 12 month suspension the norm for this level of infraction?
-
Didn't all of of this happen when he was mooted to be going to Chelsea also?

How does that negotiation go... Ashworth: "If Chris makes 10 appearances there's an obligation to purchase for 15m" NFFC: "Agreed" *under breath* "and we get Saint-Maximin included" Ashworth:

Mackem logic: - Waving off a player who is red carded is despicable, disgusting and vile. - Intentionally kicking a player in the testicles is classy, heroic and commendable.

Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER

Danjuma now going to Tottenham on loan rather than Everton. -
I largely agree. It all comes down to what the price is. For a wide player he really does play a lot through the middle (right footed playing on the left) so perhaps Howe is envisioning him being similar to Maddison in an attacking midfield role if we are indeed interested.

Willock does a fair bit of defensive work as well, but it's probably time to see whether ASM brings more end product than Joe. I hope and expect that we will push to kill the tie knowing that they can't afford to play too defensively. That said they probably will still try to play on the counter, that's where they looked most dangerous tonight.

That's got to be some sort of record?
