Wait, the cat-flap was a euphemism for Mrs Gemmill?

Cheers for that link! He's playing at the Grand Rex which holds 2,800 people. Going to try and see about tickets but its mid November and my job doesn't really allow me to plan that far in advance.

Thinking about going to see Bob Dylan later this year. HF, what's he like live? I know 6 or 7 albums of his well, the classics basically. Do you need an encyclopedic knowledge of his work to be sure to enjoy it?
-
He listened to 'Allardyce for England'. Pardew was crucified last season (perhaps rightly so) but we all knew Ashley is a mad man who appoints what can only politely be described as 'leftfield choices'. It wasnt 'be careful' that was used in the argument. It was 'lets look at what he has done in the past and use that as a gauge for his future behaviour'. That point of view has now been proven spot on but repeating it now the act has been committed makes me insane? Ok.

I can read your mind. Here is a summary of what i see:
-
Ashley is an arsehole. The fans demanding Pardew's head too. As it was clear this was the sort of decision he makes. I dont see where the logic in this position falls down. I agree the decision-maker is an arsehole of the highest order but the constant refrain from the people clamouring for Pardew's head was 'he's changed, he's learnt, he'll get the next one right' when everything pointed to this not being true. Further, if a debate rages for months about what would happen if Ashley decided to act, then he decides to act, it is right and proper to refer back to the debate, however uncomfortable and annoying it is.
-
He's a stupid cunt, we all know that. Now what... Some of the criticism thrown at Pardew was beyone moaning too.
-
He heard the fans complaining loudly about Pardew and decided to act. If we were all being understanding, saying well he deserves another crack at it next season, clubs can have bad seasons for one reason or another, then there would be no Kinnear. You cant deny that.
-
You can do what you want, just dont be surprised by the outcome. Given the last 5 years, a bit of circumspection might not have gone amiss. Personally, i look at the sample size of n=2 seasons. One observation 5th top, one observation 5th bottom. The data suggests equally that Pardew is excellent and poor. Screaming for him to go is first of all objectively stupid and secondly is based around the expectations elevated by the 5th place from the manager being criticised. 'The 5th under Pardew was over-achievement' imperceptibly morphing into 'Pardew is shit as we are not top half' belies a stupidity only a football fan could articulate. I'm pissed off with this and am pointing the finger at the Pardew out brigade for their contribution. Possibly only half-seriously.
-
If no one had complained about Pardew then this wouldnt have happened. Thats not speculative in the slightest. I cant 'prove it' but it doesnt take a genius to work it out. People were told to pipe down because the one thing you could guarantee from Ashley was a bizarre managerial decision.

Nev is quality, love him.

I'm serious. People were told that if they demand that Pardew goes, then nothing in the history of Ashley's decisions points to him making a better appointment. He couldn't award him an 8 year contract to promote stability, then sack him. This is the result. Well done the moaners and should-know-betters.
-
I blame the Pardew out brigade. This is what happens when Ashley hears the manager isn't good enough.
-
Its gone straight to classic, the run of 7 belters (seven!) for the first half of that album is one of the most consistent runs on an album i've heard for a while. The second half isnt bad either. Still waiting to sit down with the new Boards of Canada (and waiting for Tooj's review!). I had a listen through that Jon Hopkins album thats been getting decent reviews. Opening track on that is excellent. I've been rather taken by a track off the new Baths album called Ironworks (the track not the album). If you want more underground, then the NonPlus+ compilation Think and Change posted above is very 2013. That Four Tet track is one of my favourite's of his for ages.

Your what?

No. Would have been a smooth move though.

And?

Happy Birthday!

I reckon CT's wife put her foot down. Sudden disappearances of that nature often have a domestic angle. Didnt SLP's missus slap a ban on him which is why he went missing? An ex- of mine once said i spent too much time on here, she got dumped the next week. KSA is a white van man in north london nowadays.

The quarry just off the Broadway in Whitley.

Also, anyone posting anything interesting gets a listen. To qualify as interesting for me isn't difficult tbh.

I click on any links HF puts up as he has nice taste in music. I also click on anything Meenzer posts, out of a strange morbid curiosity
