  1. What apps do people use for running? I use runtastic (good name) which gives you average speed, distance, average pace, elevation and i guess what is just an estimation of calories burned. You can see the route on a map and it keeps a history. Its free but there is a pro-app for a few quid. I think i'm at around the same pace as you SLP, 5.30 mins per KM.
  2. I shudder to think of the search terms that brought us this thread.
  3. I'm a wee bit taller than that like. Good luck with the GNR training anyway, what distances are you up to?
  4. As of yesterday, i'd ran just over 40km since the 28th Dec but now back at work full time will be hard to keep it up. I was ill before christmas so did nothing for 2 weeks but as i didnt drink alcohol and didnt eat that much i've hit January carrying a bit less than normal. I'm nae Stevie but at nearly 40 i was starting to carry extra pounds, with traveling a lot with work and having a lot of dinners i've got to make a real effort nowadays.
  5. I wonder if Barton will put in a good word?
  6. Obviously doesn't mention us but says Remy is prepared to listen to offers from Schalke and Dortmund.
  7. Are they meant to look like Dennis Healey's eyebrows?
  8. Nae worries Barnacle, let us know if you need any help booking stuff etc, one of my admin is based in Madrid, she sorts out all sorts.
  9. I think you've made a good decision, you should definitely go to that market i told you about, even if its just to do a quick visit. Personally i'd be there munching on Pata Negra and drinking wine for hours (try wine from Ribera del Duero if you want to try from somewhere other than Rioja, its lush). Another idea for going out which we did last summer is a Flamenco show with dinner. We went to this one http://www.corraldelamoreria.com/en/index2.html That one is included in the Michelin guide (and the NYT's '1000 Places to see before you die'), so the food is exceptional and it is meant to have the 'best flamenco'. As most people apart from Spanish are not 'flamenco snobs' then am sure there are other, less expensive options. It sounds a bit odd but it was great when we went and it think even better for a romantic evening. If it interests you but it looks too expensive, i can get a recommendation for somewhere else.
  10. Trying to work this post out. Either you've got Tom/Brian May hair or your new lass is a bit 'moody downstairs'. ?

Lamb chops Jamie Oliver style. No wine though as running later
  12. Arriving is not too bad, have done the west coast on business quite a few times. If you land early evening then you get to bed about 8-9pm, you can sleep for 10 hours and be ready to start the next day early. Obviously people like Gemmill will probably wake up in the middle of the night but I seem to be able to do it as going to bed at 6am and sleeping all day isn't alien to my body. It's coming back that's the killer especially if you have to go to work. Anyway, although there is lots of work I'm sort of looking at it as a holiday as there will be plenty of compensation for being there with dinners etc and the hotel is nice.
  13. Off to San Fran on 22nd, going on business on the A380 via LAX so i'm actually looking forward to the flight. Only there for 5 days and am in meetings for the first 3 so not got a lot of time during the day.

  15. The budget constraints are determined by our revenue. There is around £20m missing from that revenue due to the board's behaviour/management and that is a big issue. I dont think they are under-spending given the revenue we have, they are forced to spend less because of missing revenue. However, they have spent that money very effectively. I would argue now, and this is a view i've taken this season, that Pardew's faith in his ability to make players perform at the top of their ability may be to blame for the lack of quality in the second tier of players in the squad.

Xhamster. The HD channel is canny and the filth on there is a bit more specialist.
  18. We dont have the revenue to assemble a squad that could handle all thats been demanded of it. We needed more but if we had signed Debuchy and a Centre Back in the summer and removed any potential criticism, the squad still wouldnt have coped.

Same here, she's out, i've got a bottle of burgundy, some cheese and a fig chutney.
  20. We've got some of the best players who have ever played for us, Ben Arfa is a joy to watch, Cabaye on his day is a world class midfielder. We've had Ba, Cisse on form last season scoring goals of the season. Krul, Colo, Tiote and Taylor have all performed at the highest level in the league in their positions. Anita, Marveaux and Debuchy all have enormous promise. The investment has not been enough but the assembly of these players and their obvious qualities makes comparisons with Ipswich and Reading a bit specious. Neither of those sides had 3 of France's starting 11 playing for them.
  21. I can't see how anyone looking at Perch, Williamson, Tavernier, Obertan, Shola, Sammy and Abeid all starting together for a premiership team could possibly point to the manager as the problem.
  22. And Colo, Cissé, Marveaux, Debuchy and another striker (here's hoping).
  23. Madrid is cheap, was looking at boutique hotel prices yesterday and you can get 5 star double rooms in places with roof top pools for 140 euros a night. Which means 4 star nice hotels are there for less than 100 a night.
