It's great fun. I'm not interested on the technicalities of mixing or how he achieves what he does, but the song selection and the scattergun onslaught of great tune after great tune was a winner for me. I've no doubt a layman could put together something quite similar (I read he generally came up with about a minute per day, so two months rather than 2 weeks) but I don't know that their ear for what goes with what would be as good. The tracks selected are unashamedly poplar too which has the added benefit of annoying people like Sloop who'll only listen to a mix if they can show how clever they are for recognising one cuban horn section from 1963. If Girl Talk could do it live with Vinyl, i'd be impressed. I take your point about the song selection (its funny) but isnt this just doing the "its so uncool, its cool" thing? Of course taking the unashamedly popular (e.g. Whitney Houston) and making it impossibly cool (mixed live with Leftfield's genre defining Not Forgotten) has all been done before, years ago, without a computer. By the way, that's Peter Kay tastic. "A computer! A computer isn't an instrument. In my day we had proper musicians, they had talent, they could actually PLAY other peoples records. Put a bit of bloody Basement Jaxx on for your mother. Smack My Bitch Up." Nice one grandad Wasnt it.

I'd love to say I bought all of those but it would be a lie. But no there were lots of albums I heard (I'm fortunate enough to be able to listen to music at work now so I can listen to quite a bit and I've felt I needed to check out more this year because of the let downs of of some of my more anticipated releases) and didn't think too much of. The big let downs were Destroyer, Wolf Parade and Islands for me but I've heard lot of other that did nothing for me. I just went through my Ipod and listed the ones I enjoyed although I admit not all of them are good album but they all did some good stuff. I'd forgotten about that David Byrne album, I must get my hands on that. Also the Sigur Ros album is one I must listen too more, it didn't stick with me as much as their last few but I still quite enjoyed it. I sent HF the RS link for the DB/BE album, if he's still got it in his pm's it should still work.

How many units of alcohol do you consume in a week ?
ChezGiven replied to Jimbo's topic in General Chat
Probably a very stupid question but it is an honest one at least: Do you not have any alcohol at all if you're straight edge? Reason I ask is I use alcohol in cooking from time to time (hence adding a unit or two to my total). Would a douse of port in your bolognese be an act of straight edge sin? Some tools take it that far but no, not me. I dont drink, but a chocolate liquer isnt going to get me pissed so im safe with that I always thought that was a euphemism for rimming? About 15 units last night for some stupid reason. -
Did DK just post every album he bought? (In fact, quick survey, how much did you spend on music this year, excluding gigs?). Anyway, theres loads of things in that list i've not heard, will be nice to pick my way through a few of those. That new Spiritualized is canny, Santogold is very good, Sigur Ros as ever. The Wedding Present's new album has some nice tracks on it and David Byrne/Brian Eno's Everything Thats Happens puts most of the other things listed here to shame. Laura Marling and Adele both wrote beautiful debut albums. My wish for 2009 is that electro house will finally fuck off, it was stale in 2003 and no one has done fuck all with it (Friendly Fires aside, which was a very good album). e.g. Neon Neon's Michael Douglas was done years ago, far better with more funk by Tom Middleton. Oh sorry but its in fashion so it must be good. Is it fuck. That Quiet Village is good mind but that really is music to take drugs to. Why does everyone love Girl Talk? He's just an Ableton mixer and not even a very good one. Honestly give me a fortnight in the studio and i could do better. Not from this year but i recently discovered Midlake and have been unable to stop listening to them. 2006 though, I'm not hip enough tbh.

Live By The Pork Sword.........Die By The Pork Sword
ChezGiven replied to wykikitoon's topic in General Chat
The looking in the phone and the getting upset at text messages and the stealing of the phone, all control freakery. That message arrived whilst you were in the shower out of the blue? Seems odd. -
Change in regulations (Food Supplements Directive) meant that companies who sell vitamins and supplements that 'purport to have an effect on health' (usually indirectly but from the company) had to gain inclusion of the vitamins on an 'approved list'. At the time "The British Dietetic Association backed the new plans. It is concerned about patients admitted to hospital suffering liver failure and severe stomach problems after taking high doses of vitamins."

I think we all agree Ashley has been a fucking disaster and has never shown anything other than a lack of understanding of how to run a football club let alone one like ours. I do have a wry smile on my face when i see the hatred pouring off the page towards him as it seems the pantomine villain has just changed his mask and we have a new figurehead of hate to vent our frustrations on. Plus ca change and all that. I also feel like a jilted lover when it comes to Keegan. As much as i can understand why the relationship ended, i cant help feeling the same as Asprilla, "we could have worked it out". I believe we wouldnt be facing relegation if we had managed to hold it together. The events at Spurs would have more than likely changed Ashley's thinking before January and it would be him with £12m on his hands to spend. Maybe...

Too much. -
One quote that Keegan came out with stuck with me. "Mike ashley is a clever man, if you say something and then change it later, he'll pick you up on it". Said around April / May. Some of you may remember it. It gave me the impression at the time that Keegan was challenging how things were run.

loved the crash racing games on the playstation so will definately have to get that when my touch arrives (ordered a 16gb one this weekend) how is the AI on the texas hold em game? I've have poker games on phones and stuff before where it has just been awful and really predictable Crash is stupidly addictive and utilises the sensor control really well. There are a few texas games i think. The one i have is the popular one in the app store, the AI is good (although not the greatest expert), each player is based on a real player's character with more complicated/aggressive betting strategies the higher the stakes. The graphics are great, Portrait gives you face to face with each player, landscape gives above table, all hands view.

I dont get the bit about 'risking his reputation'. I also dont for one minute think we'd be having discussions about us going down if he was still here.

Thanks Thats a confirmed solution btw

Is Bobby complaining about inconsistent stools again? Bless.

Alright, bit of help needed, want to try and install sopcast on my mac. Got some instructions from the Apple support website. Any pointers would be appreciated. I've already got WMP v 9 installed so following the instructions above, do you think i just need to install Crossover, IE6 then open Crossover to install WMP 9? Which would ignore the WMP7 bit and the installation of WMP9? It may sound like a stupid question, i just dont know if the instructions assume as a mac user you dont have WMP.

I think it's a sickening situation to the extent I'm already contemplating the benefits of going down. The only one I can see is it will get rid of the moaners, and the pricing levels will make it easier for local people. It would be interesting to see how many out of town fans come and watch us in the Championship. The Wigan match cost us 1000 euros in total, they're about as glamorous as Soton, Ipswich, Palace etc. I'd not get up anymore but dont think it would be much less.

I had a 30 year old Macallan in 50 over the summer (aye, that place) and it cost 100 quid for a measure. I wasnt paying like. -
Games i'm completely addicted to on the iPhone/Touch. Crash Bandicoot Nitro Cart, Texas Hold em, Backgammon, Aurora Feint (genius game) and R Thunder.

Dont see why you should have to make excuses. If we go down it will be because they didnt invest enough to keep us up in january.

See West Ham for examples. West Ham paid silly money in terms of wages though. True, it was just a very quick way of answering Wacky's question. "Pricks like Lucas Neil" would have worked too.

I understand your point but I think he has been shocked at how crap he is at this business. His complete inability to see Dennis Wise as the fucking liability he is and that when trying to find a manager to replace Keegan all wise could do was call his old mate Joe Kinnear is a fucking joke. If we go down and he keeps control we are fucked. It will be like the 80's again when all we can do is play for middle table championship year in year out. Or best scenario be a yo yo team like the baggies. That would see our gates drop like a lead balloon. I think he will shit himself if he is still in charge at the start of next season and sees how few season tickets are sold. Like it or not people are sick of watching shit week in and week out and we wont fill 52,000 seats in the championship by a long way. Im not sure he has. I reckon he is too stubborn to think he is crap and probably blames other influences. On Wise, how bad has he actually been? Im not sure what he has or hasnt done (factually) to know what influence he has had. I know we signed some canny players, and some shite, and not enough. Was this him? I know we tried to get El Tel before JFK but he wouldnt come due to the temp contract was this him or Lambias? I dont know. Also we dont know who else we tried? I do agree though, if we go down and he keeps control we're fucked. I also agree that the season tickets will be even worse next year. Staying up or not. When you take into account how tight we have been in regards to signing players + contracts this makes (if true) his supposed seven figure salary fucking madness... If he was bringing in top quality for a pittance he'd be worth every penny. The fact that we'll end up paying more than £10M for Gutirez, like we did for Coloccini, and he blew £5M on Xisco makes his record piss poor when compared to Keegan spending £2.5M on Guthrie and Bassong. Was that a joke?

QPR were bought recently when in the Championship? Add about 30-40m to their price (stadium, facilities etc).
