  1. The same friend in Vegas last year was playing poker and basically won a $2000 hand and mucked his cards 'by mistake'. He has a convoluted explanation as to why he ended up doing it but he is still a thick twat.
  2. Going where? Aren't you abit old? I would assume to a friend's party. If he's looking forward to it and will have fun, then why the need to deride him? Ben is blatantly going to a fancy dress party for Hallowe'en too. Hallowe'en slumber party 2 weeks after Hallowe'en, in my case. So it probably won't be very Hallowe'en-y. We had to keep delaying it! EDIT: No costumes involved. It's just that H was a good excuse to arrange this party. Girl situation. Complex. TBH Does he mean Pyjama party?
  3. A friend of mine is a member of a private one in Mayfair and we went in one night, got free drinks, lush scran, played the roulette tables for an hour, i was 600 up and my mate was nearly a grand up. I thought it would be nice to stay and enjoy the hospitality but then thought it might be nicer to take the money and leave. Most i have ever been up off a gamble ever. And the drink/food was free.
  4. Thats on my christmas list. Forgot about that one.
  5. I watched disc 1 of Once Upon a Time in America last night and will probably watch disc 2 after the footie tonight... Lovin it so far.
  6. I have seen some decent pram faces in my time. Its like walking into a slightly run down terraced house and thinking, 'the right lick of paint would sort this place/face out'. Cheryl Tweedy is the High Charveress and is also fit as a butchers dog.
  7. Already have, so there Its on my list to read.
  8. Have you seen the new Bo Selecta Madonna character? Fucking hilarious. My lass is fooking mad about the daft bint and it drives me up the wall. I was delighted to present to her the photo of her puppet (from Nuts i think of all places )
  9. Pipe and slippers territory as well? Hash pipe and slippers You rebel Alex you. I'm a crack pipe and kippers man myself. I like to wake up with what i call the 'Craster Blaster' - a breakfast to really kick start your day...

  11. That's the one. She looked like Skeletor Amazing what they can do. I guess with major organs it's one pipe in and one pipe out, hook them up and you're away, but the face has so many blood vessels running through it, she's even getting feeling back. How do they get your brain responding to nerve endings in someone elses face? Marvellous. Not sure how the process works but i guess its like any form or aterial reperfusion (basically your body grows new bllod vessels to connect areas of the body that need blood). The issue is the immunosuppressant drugs which she needs to stop the body rejecting the foreign body. These will reduce her life expectancy by 10 to 20 years as they increase the risk of cancer (think about it). Basically they traded off years of life for quality of life in quite a transparent way. They have had to justify this ethically to those who didnt think they should deliverately decrease her life expectancy. Didn't see the program, but although immunosuppressants are quite toxic, I have never heard they significantly increase the risk of cancer, let alone that this risk could be so accurately quantified. Is this what they claimed? It would have massive implications for all sorts of donor recipients as well as people like myself who have been offered it for severe allergic illnesses. Actually, having just checked product literature, there is no mention of this as an adverse effect of ciclosporin. It was the article in the press yesterday saying it could knock 10 to 20 years off her life and that they increase cancer risk. It makes sense though doesnt it? The drug reduces the bodies ability to get rid of foreign bodies, like cancer cells? If there is no direct data with the type of immunosuppresant and a cancer study it wont be in the 'data sheet'. Doesnt mean there is no evidence to link them.

  13. 'A Mag For All Seasons' is actually a canny good read. It is funny and he does capture that one-eyed view of the world very well (and deliberately too). The bit on the FA cup is good, basically calls it a slag who flirts with us and never gives anything up.
  14. If i ever need a sympathetic ear i know where to come.... I'm guessing Gemmill wasn't entirely serious, but my office is next to the bridge and it's frequently shut by would-be jumpers. The successful ones do it straight away however, I've never seen one being talked down jump. Whatever their problems, it's pretty selfish. Edit: re-reading it, I can't see what you're getting at? I agree with Gemmill. Pair of bastards.
  15. The author of the article? Speculative rubbish imo, I can't see how our species could diverge unless there were some pretty radical social changes. Yes sorry the author. There are plenty of good looking birds who are charvers who will marry money. Just look at Cheryl Tweedy. Totally goes against what he is saying.

  17. What this bloke said was based on some pretty big assumptions.
  18. I think the fact that he's a Cockney who supports Liverpool says that he is an armchair fan. The thing about Danny Baker when he did 606 was that often he'd do the show from a regional BBC studio if Millwall were away. Fair enough the guy can be a twat but he was class on 606 and was miles better than the likes of Spoony. Even David Mellor was miles better than Spoony. Harsh but fair.
  19. Normally something intellectual but at the moment i am reading 'A Mag for all seasons' by Billy Furious. Poetry is alright.. I liked Robert Frost until i realsied that the Road Less travelled was used in Dead Poets society.
  20. Thank god/allah for the arab shops here (its what the locals call them). Sunday shopping is a nightmare for fags and milk. Its probably a lot to do with the continuing importance of christian religions in most european countries that they have strict opening laws. That or laziness.
  21. Aye it is man - they certainly group themselves as part of the Scandahoovians.
  22. Yup, many times, my brother lives out there.
  23. A hit and miss affair by all acounts...
