I do sort of agree about it being about society thing, Tony Blair was sort of right when he was talking about middle classness, but the point still stands. The ground redevelopment excluded a large swathe of the clubs core support. Where lads who were canny with their gyro and earned a bit on the side could have a few lunctime then afford £5 to stand in the scoreboard, thats not possible now. Thats when the change happened and those people mostly didnt come back as far as I can make out. If dole was say £30 a week in the late 80s, ticket prices were only a 6th of the weekly benefit. Its now £63, but if your paying £30 for a ticket, thats half. There were 10s of thousands who have replaced them, but as you say as society changed in the 90s the type of people going to the match subtlely changed too. A lot ended up watching the training at Durham Uni, but trainings all private now. -

Historically one of the great European clubs like, the last 15-20 years has seen a massive change in the type of person who goes to games iyam. Am on about mags from the 80s who couldnt afford SJH's party post 92. Thats the ones I'm on about. The ones who gave up due to price, scheduling, palaver of having to get a ticket for every single fuckin game instead of just turning up at 2-50pm straight from the pub and paying £5. They created an atmosphere some of the young uns wouldnt beleive. Thats the ones that skytv priced out of it and now watch it down the pub. We can still kick up a great racket when we want to but its different . Maybe am just getting old. -

Am sure theres a post from CT on one of the group game's threads basically saying "can't we just fuck the Europa league off? its shite" -
They don't know how to pass to the man in space? shouldnt be on the pitch in that case. He's not trusted at this stage by the other players; Tiote and Gutierrez wouldnt give him the ball. Strange, as Pardew wouldnt put him on the pitch unless he felt he was ready.

Maybe they've been priced out of attending as regularly as they once did, and now have more loyalty to some boozer with ESPN. Thats where the Premier league and the tv comapnies have placed these folks' former loyalty to the club. Now even as a one off they cant be arsed to turn up and have been replaced by people who tut and whinge if you stand up and try to get behind the team. Changed days. It can be a bit strange going to games nowadays. -
No one appeared to trust him with the ball anywhere around the opposistions box tonight. His runs into space were quality but no fucker would give him the ball.

Friday. And I want to go to Lisbon. Or Rome. Went to Basel before, nice but expensive. Wouldn't mind Fenerbache, we stopped at Istanbul airport on the way to Kharkiv but it cost 60 quid to get out the airport -

So much for the strength of the coalition The Tory MP David Burrowes has written to the attorney general, Dominic Grieve QC, asking him to review the eight-month sentences imposed on Chris Huhne and Vicky Pryce on the grounds that they are "unduly lenient". Is he doing this becuase he's a pathetically mean spirited busybody, or because he's a tory, or do the two things go hand in hand?.....

You had to be in the ballot that closed in the last week in January to get a ticket for the final....unless you use ebay or a ticket agency, which will be tricky as you need to prove you are the person named on the ticket. I'm in the ballot. Was in 2007 too, got an email telling me I had 2 tickets...it was waiting for me when I got back from Alkmaar -

I think if Sky and their advertisers "lobbied" Fifa hard enough theyd get their way....worked for Qatar, which a far more fuckin ludicrous situation than a cross border league. Sky have few avenues left in this country (or Europe as a whole I imagine) in which to grow their business, not sure if Scotland's 5-6mill is worth them growing into so that might stop it. One things for sure, tv will decide if it happens iyam. -

See I think you're right about that, the clubs would resist it, but tv and those who advertise on tv would love it, and at the end of the day its their money the clubs eventually get. If they can apply enough pressure etc...how many Scots who havent got a sky box or got rid of it would get a new subscription if they were going to be able to watch Cetic v manu or Ranger v Liverpool?... -
Because of the social problems that those with issues cause for the emergency services etc?... or should we just shoot them?
