We got in behind the West Ham right back at least half a dozen times in the second half. Its what happened after that...the balls usually rolled into an empty space where Ba,Shola,Cabaye or Anita should have been. And when Obertan came on he beat his man on the other side a couple of times too. Thats how goals are scored, getting in behind defenders and we did it regularly in the second half. The fact is I agree largely with a lot of that, but not about the effect its having on the team.How many times did a player beat the West Ham right back yesterday?....I counted 6 times in the second half. That should be 3 goals. Someone from midfield shouldve been in the spaces where the ball was being put into. So either Cabaye is being told to hold back or he cant be arsed to attack. Or without Tiote he doesnt trust Anita to shut the door on a counter attack. So its either Cabayes heed being turned or a tactical fuck up or we're missing the suspended Tiote, who's abscnece is self inflicted, his rep precedes him now. The real, truly depressing thing for me is if we hadnt targeted the hopelsss WH rightback, if we had acheived no penetration down that flank because of the weakness of that player. The same couldve been said last sasson, all sides had iffy spells then as well. Chelsea had an iffy season in the league all round, perhaps because they were concentrating on the champs league. The time to anylise us is the end of the season. I'll probably join in if theres no real changes post January. But last season should've bought Pardew some time and space to try and sort the problems out. The 8 year contract says he's likely to get some from Ashley.

Thats the key, things are plainly not as they were last season. I think managing expectations is important too though, and Europe was bound to have an effect with Ashley's transfer policy. We don't get the players we need until the deal's right, and if its not it doesnt go ahead. I think the Debuchy thing was down to Lille largely though, the the players comments last week. When you were claiming that everything was rosey in the garden last season could you not see it was one or two players pulling us along?...theyre not doing it this season for whatever reasons, and now we're likely relegation fodder? Am not buying it CT, the same way I didn't buy into your evangelism of all things Ashley/Pardew last season. I understand you're paying good money for awful performances and that gives you every right to state you're case but I think you're over-egging it. It wasnt as good as you claimed last season and its not as bad (overall, the performances are awful) this season.
