  1. Okay so had a 10 minute power read through a few chapters tonight. Tbh, I couldn't really see anything different to the weight watchers plan. Too many calories going in and not burned by the body leads to weight gain, too little leads to weight loss. Start watching what you eat, eat better foods, control portion size and life will be champion. Throw some regular exercise in and you might even live longer as well. Once you've reached your goal weight, keep monitoring or it will creep back on. All pretty much common sense stuff. Is there some big bit Im missing (as I will never get round to reading a 338 page ebook online). The weight watchers major attarction is that you are going to a meeting to get weighed. We all at times might tell ourselves a little lie or cheat ourselves on a diet or exercise regime, however when its not just you you are cheating, but also doing it publicly at a public weigh in, it makes you think a lot harder before sneaking that extra treat.
  2. Get the fuck In Seven pounds off, thats right 7 Only hit the treadmill once this week and the food Ive being eaten has being very enjoyable and not left me hungry. Of course, I couldnt have done it on my own so a few words for the little people that made it all possible. Gemmil, for his own gym boastings that spurred me on during the dark days. The weight watchers naysayers for giving me even more motivation. An Alex for his fantastical tomato sauce recipe that has become a main stay of my weekly meals. I thank you all.
  3. 38 minutes to go and feeling super confident of weight loss.
  4. Married nearly 25 years. Sex is over Hence the Taxi Driving
  5. Not yet, might give a go a bit later but 250 pages on a computer screen ffs. My reading staying power is a flick through The Sun at best so dont hold too many hopes for getting through it.
  6. Well, 6 hours to go to weigh in! Just completed my last chance workout with 30 minutes at 3.6mph on the treadmill on incline for some of the time. Have eaten a lot better this week with more salads to accompany meals and generally just better choices. Have also cut out the couple of slices of bread that used to accompany every meal. Not sure if I've managed to recover from the excess Alcohol at the start of the week. 14 - 7 to beat. If its lower, all good. The same or higher then its straight to the Kebab shop.
  7. Due to CT's strange inability to name/link the source of these articles, it's hard to know whether to pay any attention to such talk. Sunday sun....... Ignore strop over then
  8. ALAN PARDEW kicked off Newcastle United’s £35million recruitment drive this weekend by insisting: “You can trust me to rebuild this club”. The United boss and all of his key lieutenants are taking in games this weekend as the club step up scouting efforts ahead of a crucial summer transfer window. With no match this weekend senior staff were billeted to games in the French and Dutch leagues – as well as the Championship and several big FA Cup games. And that reflects a determination to get the right players to turn Newcastle United into a quicker, more mobile and attacking side next term. United’s hit-list includes rising star Connor Wickham, Ivory Coast striker Gervinho and Marseille’s highly-rated left-back Taye Taiwo – but Pardew wants to make sure Newcastle have covered every base before investing. “We have a big responsibility this summer, but I have really good confidence in my transfer record,” he told the Sunday Sun. “This summer is going to be very, very important for this club – and it will be important for me, Graham Carr, John Carver, Peter Beardsley and the rest of the staff as well. It is so important that we bring in players that are the right fit for Newcastle United because we want to go on and have a better season next year and aim even higher. “I’m confident that we can do that because my transfer record has been strong. “Look at my time at West Ham and the players I bought in – I like to think I did well on that side at Crystal Palace and Reading too.”
  9. Bolton (H) - 3 Everton (H) - 3 Stoke (A) - 3 Wolves (H) - 3 Villa (A) - 1 Man Utd (H) - 0 Blackpool (A) - 3 Liverpool (A) - 0 Birmingham (H) - 3 Chelsea (A) - 0 West Brom (H) - 3
  10. I'm doing a Derrière ala pig, topped with pudding du la pea and encased in a duo of finest sliced pride du la mamma.
  11. I think we now look a more hungry side when not in possession, much keener to win the ball back.
  12. Well if Tiote and Ben Arfa are the product of this then thats good enough for me. Would rather see this than spunking money(wages, fees etc) on some over the hill or over rated Billybigbollocks Yep, players who see this club as a step up (which it is for all but a few) as opposed to players who see it as a gravy train/retirement fund. I'd rather these players [the Tiotes, Enriques, and Ben Arfas] envision us a viable option to achieve their personal career goals, the fulfllment of ambitions ie. European football etc. This is obviously achieved through actions from the board - by not selling your best players. Under this man's ownership the club is nothing more than a strategic stepping stone [as a player agent's first port-of-call in England, for young clients with a bag of potential] for such players who have the raw ability to move on to the highest level of club competition, and consequently attract an appropriate wage package & signing bonus' later on. Despite Ashley's damage inflicted to the on-field brand, and taking into account our league positioning, the club's stature [as fully maximised by Ashley's predecessors] still allows us to acquire talent that will inevitably slip under the top-4's radar from time to time, providing we don't play funny buggers over transfer fees with the player's parent club. We're a great 'one contract term bus-stop' [at the most] at the moment, a meal ticket for bigger & better things for players............... and that's the ideal marriage under the club's current model of acquiring players with resale value, improving them & moving them on for a profit. We are not at the top of world football and therefore just another run on the ladder to the top for the truly great players. This is just a simple fact of football life that effects EVERY club in this country without exception. The wild card in all of this are Ashleys genuine intentions. We can debate it til we are blue in the face, but they will not be known until the summer window closes. If one or two leave us for Champions league football, thats sad but tough. The main thing will be what comes in. Will the Carroll money be re-invested, will Graham Carr unearth more Tiotes and Ben Arfas. With a bit of luck, we will assemble a squad that can really push on for Europe next year, thus pushing us further up the ladder run.
  13. I only ever post when the lights turn red
  14. I've met many people in retail of a similar ilk to Ashley. Hard nose retailers in their 40's who've already made it big. Its not the money that drives them but the thrill of the deal and their ego. I still have no doubt whatsoever that he would like nothing better than to make us successful, his way. He would love to ram it down the football worlds throats. Equally, if a very good offer came in that would allow him to swagger off with a smile of his face, im also sure he'd be away. The biggest problem is that footballs not the gravy train it once was, there is no easy loans from banks and its just not an attractive option any more. The days of the local johnny big balls being able to make a difference with the world high rollers are over. As perverse as it is, we could do a lot worse than Ashley. Most clubs are either financially fucked or have an owner with deep enough pockets to keep them aloft. We luckily fall into that category. Can you really imagine what Barry Moat would have done. We probably are stuck with him for some time so we better start hoping Sports direct continues to soar and whatever plan they are working too comes off......Eventually.
  15. Cheers, just expect you to know these things I was googling and I think the common one seems to be 3 tbsp olive oli, 2 tbsp lemon juice, salt and pepper. I'll give it a bash. Nice big bed of wild rocket, gently caressed in the above dressing and topped with a gentlemans portion of smoked haddock. Half a granary bun on the side for company. Absolutely lushville. Having the same for supper minus the bread. I always forget how gorgeous wild rocket is and combined with this lemon dressing and hot smoked haddock is truly amazing. Yum Yum
  16. Basically most drivers are shit apart from Taxi drivers. This is not bias, its a fact that is clear as day to most professional drivers. We earn our living 8 or 9 hours a day in and out of busy traffic, watching out for hazards, spotting danger long before it occurs. We have cat like instincts that can not be explained to mere boys, but are gleaned from hours of professional driving. Only this sort of intense driving at all times of day and night, with hazards both inside and outside of the car, can the art of driving truly be appreciated. Martial arts of the roads tbf.
