On reflection, my question is this. WHO announce no vaccine possible. What next?

There is obviously a political reality that at some point we are all fucked if we don’t end lockdown. Thats how we concentrate on how we do it and partly why I’ve said what I’ve said today. If “people” remove a vaccine from their thought process then it’s easier to address what we probably should really be concentrating on now.

You can debate all that til the cows come home but that has nothing to do with my moral question on corona virus. Permanent lockdown is unsustainable. How long are “us” prepared to never visit parents, never see grandkids, never go to a match, restaurant, concert, stop kids going to school, playing with friends, meeting a mate, falling in love? You know fine well there is no guarantee a vaccine will be found. All im alluding too is that the way out of this is probably fundamental changes in the way we shield the over 75’s and those at serious risk rather than a continuous game of cat and mouse with the r factor.

Sorry, thought it was possible to address the moral dilemma facing the world without Brexit or politics. It’s a lot bigger than that really.

Quite the opposite. My point is either we stick with where we are or we prepare (radically) for a new way of living. Im 100% sure there is no sustainable middle ground. Im not really interested in the politics of it as it is going to turn into a moral crisis over the dangers to an aged population v the collateral dangers / libertys of the under 50’s, particularly children. Personally I think Kier Starmer has been excellent and a national unity government should be put in place til the next election.

My thoughts this morning. Currently, everyone seems to be viewing this as a situation that needs to be managed *until* a vaccine is discovered. What if that’s not possible or is years away? At what point do we shift to a way to live with the virus? Sure a lot of people are scared right now, but as time goes on people will (rightly) want to get as close back to living a normal life for themselves and their children. Even older people will decide that the downsides of social exclusion are too burdensome. The statistician on Marr this morning said iirc, out of 10 million under 10’s in the uk, 2 have die from corona virus. Out of 17 million under 25’s, 27 have died. How long do we let kids miss schooling, playing, living How long do we allow the collateral damage of missed cancer diagnosis, mental illness, poverty etc to go on. I appreciate some people are putting their hopes in track and trace, but I honestly can’t see that working in this country once people are out and about. To me it boils down to either pretty much where we are now and hope eventually a vaccine arrives or radically investing in better protection for the elderly while the rest of the population returns to normal (as possible). ???

Our conservatory is the 2nd TV room and then there’s 3 kids so always rotation depending where you are in the pecking order.

Cheers. No nothing wrong with the TV we have, just fancied moving from 48” to 65”. Only thing the kids play is fortnite so not really an issue. Virtually everything else we watch is IPTV which is why I was worried about poorer sources looking worse when upscaled to a bigger telly. Im guessing that most Iptv sources are like Kodi, either 1080 or 720? If I could be sure they wouldn’t look worse then I would probably buy one, but the grief I will get if Chicago PD looks worse on a 65” TV will be hellish.

Cheers. Ive done loads of googling / YouTube reviews and it’s very confusing, which is why I was hoping to hear from someone who actually had one. Lots of places are selling them and have hundreds of 5 star reviews, with people raving about how good they are, yet there’s a few “expert” reviews on places like AVForums that categorically state non 4K sources will look worse on 4k than they do on non 4K TV’s. Obviously there’s very little 4K stuff from most broadcasters so I can’t quite understand how people are raving about 4K, if as the experts say, most of the stuff they are watching will look worse. Have you got 4K?

My question is whether SD or HD looks worse on a 4k telly because it has been “upscaled” / stretched, to fit the extra pixels.

Currently got a 2014’ish Samsung LED which is great, but have passed some of the boredom looking at what the latest technology currently is. Anyone know if SD and HD content looks better or worse on a 4k TV?

Well it looked real to me but 1. I’m quite gullible and 2. People mock all sorts of crap up these days. That sounds bloody brilliant!
