So according to the accountant I spoke to today, it seems a lot simpler than the YouTube crowd are making out. You can still use XL for record keeping and just need some HMRC approved bridging software for transmitting the quarterly returns. He also said the quarterly returns don’t need to be that detailed or accurate as all that is tidied up in the final assessment. He also said most of his clients use Sage online as it is a lot more user friendly than the likes of Quickbooks or Xero. The office did look like the set of slow horses and I got a bit of an impression that he wasn’t fully upto speed on MTD 😂 So if he’s right, it’s not as complex as first thought, however personally I like the idea of having a good software set up a) in case I have to go VAT registered or limited company and b) I quite like the idea of getting all SKU info out of Etsy cos I’m weird like that.

So far I’m considering Quickbooks as the main software and link my books as the software for dragging all the Etsy info into quickbooks. Just going to double check with the accountant that it’s a decent set up for what I need. Link my books works with xero as well, but so far my research indicates quickbooks being a bit better suited for e-commerce. Hopefully he has a few clients set up this way already.

Aye but it’s all changing. It was easy dropping all your stuff of for the accountant, receipts etc, but now it all has to be kept in digital form on software approved by HMRC. And a once a year trip to the accountant is a lot cheaper than 5 times a year
-
Making tax digital. Self employed now have to digitalise all sales / costs etc and report to HMRC 5 times a year. No more XL sheets. Must use software approved by HMRC

Quite amazing how many people seem to know nothing about these new rules starting in September. Lot of people are going to be up shit creek.

Not at all. My first choice in the immediate future is Wissa hits the ground running playing 433 and Eddie buys some time to look at longer term plans that incorporate Nicks strengths.

Maybe not for Man City, but I wonder how this set up would do. Gordon and Woltemade being able to interchange, but Gordon also there to be a more mobile presser. An overall midfield with better holders and passers of the ball and Hall and Tino providing the pace and width down the flanks. Allows Nick to play more with his back to goal and linking up forward play and Gordon able to stretch the defence giving more room for the midfield to work in. (At least until Wissa has a go) Sure we’d be missing our current selection of misfiring wingers, but retaining possession and runs from Hall / Tino may prove a better way forward. -

Obviously each to their own and all that, but this review sums it up for me. And love Del Toro, but he had a tiny bit part and basically just walked around an apartment block -
Well according to various political gossips, In the budget (27th November), it’s either going upto 100k or being abolished altogether so everyone will have to do vat returns.

One battle after another IMDB 8.2 Dog shit and 2 hours 41 minutes of dog shit. Liam Neeson would have got the job done in 90 minutes. Just a meandering, festering, soul destroying 9,660 seconds. -
Had a customer yesterday that would be right up @Monkeys Fist street

News from the en-suite. Mug business is ramped up for Xmas but found out today I’m sailing very close to the VAT threshold Did a bit research today and the word from most (YouTube) accountants, was that unless you really intend to soar your turnover, you are better off staying under it. Im not crying in my beer just yet, but seems a massive hit to profits to cross the threshold. (My net profit is an absolute fraction of £90,000 , but it seems very anti growing a small business when you get to that point. Also any self employed out there, any recommendations for good accounting software given the new rules coming in.
