  1. Actually Shearer slipped through Newcastle's fingers as did many other young lads for whatever reasons. Some that come to mind. Carrick..............West Ham. Charlton J...........Leeds. Charlton R..........Man. Utd. Coates R............Burnly. Robson R............Fulham. Robson B............West Brom? Beardsley............Aye, even Pedro went somewhere else. You could add a certain S Bruce to that list too. Oh, and Kennedy too..........the one who was at Arse n'all, not the one who went to Liverpool.
  2. Call Eriksson a 'swede' if you will but to me he's a 'turnip' and either way I wouldn't want that veggie on my dinner table. His line-ups, substitutions, and favouratisms during his tenure as England manager were deplorable to me. Couldn't he see that Gerrard & Lampard were not a compatable duo in centre midfield and didn't compliment each other, and anyone who would play Rooney the way he did borders on lunacy. Far as I'm concerned Eriksson would be another dud for Newcastle.

  4. ..................and now he's played another 90 minutes for the reserves and apparently looked more liveier than before!! What the fuck does that mean, he'd nearly died and has come back to life Perhaps he was and is shite.
  5. Didn't they just hire an assistant manager who has the credentials, maybe he would be the caretaker if Roeder goes, and until they find someone better if he falls short.
  6. Surely there must be some sort of striker from the reserves that can fill the gap, isn't that what the reserve team is for?
  7. I read that Martins will be out for the next couple of weeks due to tight hamstring. Holy mackeral Andy it's getting worse instead of better.
  8. Not quite sure exactly what you mean here but as an 'armchair-fan' I can assure you that I for one am well aware of the difference between real versus imaginary. The main difference between going to a match versus armchair-watching is ATMOSPHERE! Atmosphere cannot be duplicated via a TV screen no matter how high you turn up the volume, even if you are in a room with other expat Geordies who are as crestfallen or elated as you are. There is NO substitute for the atmosphere at SJP so expat supporters have to make-do with the next best thing, TV viewing, computer streams, text commentaries, or match reports from your site of choice. SO, don't come down on us too hard for voicing opinions based on what we see or hear via the media, with which you don't agree with, and please don't view us as 3rd. Class fans because we don't live there.
  9. You know, what with instant-replay, when you're watching the game on television you have to put up with the same shit you did over and over again Jesus, that's an appalling counter-argument. Turns out it's worse watching the match at home because of instant replay. Far from appalling Mr. Gemmell and certainly not a counter-argument but attendees at SJP will only see a goal scored against us but once whilst us demented folk watching on telly will see it from every fucking angle they have a camera placed

  11. .............just what the fuck is going on with Bernard? It's about time we got the truth about this situation and I'm not buying this 'not match fit' anymore!! To my knowledge he has been in full training for at least 7 weeks, has played 90 minutes in at least 3 reserve matches, and has played 90 minutes in 2 behind closed door matches. That's more than some players get in pre-season build-ups or coming back from injuries. The fact that he hasn't even been on the bench in the last two games bothers me, it reeks of something but I don't know what and I think it's something we should know about, or be told about.
  12. Be it Pakistan, Australia, good ol' US of A, or wherever life's journey takes us surely doesn't make us less ardent in our support of OUR team and the right to voice an opinion about the management, the team, and even the supporters who attend the games, be it in a negative or positive manner. And surely those who pay to attend games on a regular basis such as season ticket holders etc are not considered to be better supporters than those who live in distant places purely because they spend hard-earned money. Sometimes I get to see the Lads play via 'pay for view' television, sometimes if I'm lucky I get to watch them 'free' on television at home, and sometimes I have to travel about 40 miles to where I can pay and see games in places where they are only shown, like British pubs. If they are not on television and can't be found on my computer then I always follow the games by text commentaries, usually on BBC Sports. In truth I am no less an avid Newcastle fan than I was in the late 40's early 50's when I lived in Gateshead, it's just a little more difficult now but not as difficult as it was before everyone had telephones, before English football was shown on American TV, before computers, and I had to rely on my sister sending me newspaper clippings which would be at least a week old. And inccidently, I would NEVER boo MY team no matter how bad they were, I might feel like it but it's not in me to do that.
  13. Yes you can, whats the use in having Luque on the bench and then not give him a go? Defensively we were looking ok it was purely finishing that stopped us winning that game. Roeder should have brought Luque on with 20 mins to go, Rossi is swift so someone else having a dig and even if it doesnt go in would be giving Rossi more chances to get on the end of a rebound. Shameful lack of idea from Roeder tbh C'mon, it wasn't a question of bringing Luque on for 20 minutes, the game should have been put to bed in the first half when we were in complete control and for the most part playing in their half of the field, and had lots of scoring chances.
  14. no need to shout You'd rather I whispered angrily?
  15. Can't fault Fat Freddie or Roeder for this one! To dominate so much of the game and not win is shameful, for the last 20 minutes I thought Charlton were going to snatch a win and it wouldn't have surprised me one bit.
  16. Don't see how killing him is going to get him playing any more. It won't dear boy, but I'm talking about being put out of our misery, not his.
  17. They shoot horses don't they? Why doesn't someone arrange for the stud, Dire, to be taken to the knacker's yard and have us put out of our misery.
  18. Mr. Gemmell, I percieve you as a chap whe'd gan oot wi nee mac, nee dut, nee brolly, an' nee wellies, even when ye knaa its chucking it doon an' yer ganna git soaked.
  19. Having watched a delayed tape of the Boro match Monday afternoon I must admit Martins looked better than he has in other games, with the right partner up front with him he might just be alright.
  20. In a half hour, noontime on Monday our time in California, the Fox Soccer Channel is showing the match so I will be able to see for myself just what was wrong.

    Roeder

When O'Neil was passed over for the England job he was there for the taking, the fat Shepherd should have penned him. Tell me why he didn't!
  22. Whilst I am not an admirer nor advocate of Fat Freddy I think some of the bitterness is mis-directed. Sure, his tight-arsed purse-strings, lack of vision and enterprise in the close season are responsible in part for the situation we are in now but the week by week tinkering with the players available and team selections are not part of his agenda. It's up to Roeder, McDermott, and all the others responsible for getting it right on the pitch, and they're not doing it, not by a long shot. Already too many games have been lost that should have been won and today was no exception. He appointed Roeder you know. I know that Mr. Renton, and I had serious misgivings about that from the get-go but my current concerns are about the week by week, game by game decisions being made on who plays and where. There's that adage or cliche if you will, that you shouldn't change a winning team, so perhaps Roeder should have started the same team, same formation, that won agaist the Turks with the exception of Emre who got hurt and was replaced by Butt It annoys me when he persists in playing 'Damage' at left fullback when he does have other options, and how unfit can Bernard be that he doesn't even make the bench after so much playing time with the reserves and 90 minutes in a closed-door match along with 'Dire'

  24. Is it REALLY fair to slag a manager who continues to be totally inept at putting the best team available on the pitch? Is it REALLY fair to slag a manager who continues to be totally and absolutely inept? OF COURSE IT IS, he's inept at what he continually does!
  25. A good question, and it's about time we had an answer to it. And another question that needs to be answered is why Rossi is not getting more playing time.
