1. Yer joking........aren't ye? D'ye think his tactics/decisions were to have Rooney sent off and Lampard, Gerrard, and Carrager, to miss penalties. Despite Rooney's sending off the game was there to be won on the penalty shoot-out, d'ye think Sven had anything to do with 3 missed penalties? 155409 So a shit world cup squad selection, shit team selections, shit tactics, shit formation, shit substitutions, had nothing to to do with Sven Goran Eriksson ? Yeah right. 155419 C'mon man, everything you say had everything to do with stupid Sven but when the final whistle blew and the score was nowts each the final result lay with the penalty takers, not Sven or Scolari. They missed 2, ...........we missed 3, .......end of a dream, ......end of of a story. 155423 Noelie, you're missing the point. If we'd had a good manager who had .......................................... 155476 NO, I think you're missing my point bonny lad, the game was up for grabs at the penalty shoot-out and our penalty-takers themselves let the victory slip through their fingers by missing three(3) times out of four(4) and should be held responsible for their failure in the clutch. A 'good' manager would probably have had Gerrard and Lampard in the team too and because of their ability to score goals would have more than likely taken the penalty kicks with any manager, good or bad. And please let me explain, I didn't like Sven from day one and my dislike grew to hatred, and as for McClaren, I think he is a piss-poor choice but I hope he proves me wrong.
2. Yer kidding of course, ......aren't ye? All three of the missed penalties were 'poor' in my opinion and I'll bet I'm not alone in thinking that. 155428 I agree, Lampards was poor as was Gerrard's, Carragher's second penalty was poor compared to his first, but Ricardo was excellent and shouldn't be ignored. 155429 I think Carragher's second shot was poor because he went for the other side and I think Ricardo knew he would do that. If he had gone for the same side the second try I think he would have outfoxed Ricardo.
3. mmmmm, ahem, ..................whose? .
4. Hargreaves showed talent, determination, urgency, and the bulldog spirit that one hopes to see for club & country, .......if the other midfielders' performences had been half of what his was it would have been a cake-walk and there would have been no overtime, no penalty shoot-out, and Rooney's exit would have been a slight hiccup. As it was, Beckham, Cole, Gerrard, and Lampard, did not perform as good as they are capable of.

Despite Rooney's sending off the game was there to be won on the penalty shoot-out, d'ye think Sven had anything to do with 3 missed penalties? 155409 What about playing our best player out of position? the refusal to drop an ageing has been on the right-wing who he has an unhealthy relationship with? the refusal to drop one of his 'star' centre midfielders in the hope of picking a better 'team' 155410 Don't forget his selection policy. To say that the blame doesn't lie mainly at the feet of Eriksson is about as short sighted as you can get really. 155411 I wouldn't presume to say the main fault didn't lie at Sven's feet, ......it did, ......but the bottom line lay at the penalty-takers feet and Lampard, Gerrard, and Carrager blew it BIG TIME as did Waddle, Pearce, Southgate, Beckham, did before them. Players failure to score on 3 penalty kicks put us out of the World Cup, ..not Sven's stupidity.

9. Er - didnt we miss the 1994 world cup? 154040 Er........yes we fucking did and for the first fucking time some of the games were on my fucking door-step in Los Angeles. As you can tell I'm still seething about that.
10. Tragic really, on the day Ghana were the better team overall but they couldn't add the finishing touch and let's face it the bottom line is if you don't score you can't win and sadly they didn't score but the Brasileros did.
11. I think that when Owen went off so early it would have been an opportune moment to put Walcott on to partner Rooney and see what he could do on the biggest stage of all. I would have rather the Turnip, sorry Swede, had not used Crouch. And why Hargreaves before Carrick. And why not.... And why....... And.....

14. A creditable performence by the 9 men from the Wild West against the 10 from the European Indian tribe(Wopahoes)
15. Givvower son the players were to blame, it had nowt to do with tactics. Sven (as much as I dislike him) started the team I would have started and after a fairly bright start they just faded away to mediocracy in the first half before any changes were made. In the second half they sank below being mediocre and that may have been due to bad substitutions but I hardly think the infusion of Downing & Hargreaves should have lowered things to such a level. The much lauded mid-field four engine was only firing on two cylinders most of the match and whose fault was that.
16. I've thought it and now I believe what people have said; Sven's labeled a Swede but in reality he's really a Turnip
17. You wouldn't be saying that if you had lived in the States as long as I have and had to watch the miserably slow growth of the sport and suffer the lack of news in the media and the newspapers. I'm hoping they do well in order to invigorate more interest here.
