Wrong. Im starting in August or I might give a something a shot at the end of June/July as I will have the storage space. Guitars have a market, especially for people who know what they are talking about (me). Won't. happen. Ok mate. It's like Rafa taking the piss out of Drogba. I admire your ambition. It won't happen. No, you have it all wrong. It is happening. Me and my father are getting in touch with Fender europe, i have the finance so once i find my market and niche` its all go. Fender Squires sell like hot cakes, especially around August (exam result time , Obviously around November and running into december they sell fantastically. January is also a strangely amazing month for guitar sales. There is even a market for Chinese unbranded imports which is how companies like Stagg got off their feet. They are now catering for the lower end of the market and making a killing. These things do happen and people do start successful business's, it's not easy but it's achievable. Plus I have the right knowledge and backing, my mother is an accountant and my brother done some kind of business course (Parky ) However it is clear you are on the wind up and you aren't interested in sales pattern or facts All of this though, is what we were saying 6 pages ago. Dont bother with bricks n mortar just do it via t'internet. With a shop you would be looking at both a much reduced profit margin and a reduced customer base. This way you can go to work without leaving your bed, its like being a student forever!

http://ijustwantaneasylife.blogspot.com/20...kick-start.html Young kids churning up the mud on motorbikes during the half term holidays. It could only have been Junior Kick Start. A TV format that has survived to this day - human suffering for entertainment. brilliant. Jimmy, aged 12, from Dagenham would drive his mini Yamaha 50cc around a course of slalom poles, see saws ramps and steep hills. Junior Kick Start was a show you only ever watched in case some poor kid on an overly large trials bike came a cropper. Thankfully, that happened on a regular basis. My funniest memory of this, which has been replayed endlessly, is when some young 12 year old kid stacked it, tumbled into a ditch and had to be rescued by a St. John's Ambulance guy. The ambulance guy went down to get him and stacked it too, ending up on his arse in the mud. Quality entertainment. The programme eventually ended in the early-90s when a new generation of kids turned their backs on driving motorbikes over ramps and see-saws and big hills, in favour of alcopops, crack, joyriding and mugging other kids for their mobile phones. Ahhh Sunday afternoons in the 80s. Yeah, Kick Start was right up there with the A-Team and Hardcastle and McCormick.

Junior Kickstart The only programme on at teatime where you'd see blokes clutching their nuts and screaming in pain

generally you configure the router by going to 192.168.0.1 or possibly 192.168.1.1 it will tell you in your manual. One in there you can set up a WEP key. Depending on what operating system you're using will determine how easy it is to set up a network. Im on vista and it was fairly straight forward case of hooking the machine into the network and then changing the sharing properties on each machine to whatever you want within the Netwrok and Sharing Centre. Or I think Jimbo mentioned some software in this or another thread which sets it all up for you. Cheers, I got to the setup page and it lists my other devices as recognised by the router....but I'm still not sure about setting up the network. I'm not trying to add PC's to the network, I only have the one....it's my archos player, xbox360 and Wii that I want to use to view content held on my PC. I'll have to have a gander at their instruction manuals to see how I connect to a network. I dont think that the Wii is designed to view content on another machine, the xBox360 should be set up through Media Centre as an Extender and (Im guessing again here) that the Archos would just need you to set up the "Share Media" option within Windows Explorer.

For a speacialist place such as this then you wouldnt need a city centre prime spot, look at the likes of the Drum Centre which is tucked away on a sidestreet down the quayside. They survive well yet nobody must actually pass it accidentally. Music wise you have to compete with an established place such as Windows for instruments, sheet music etc. I still think a bricks and mortar shop on anything specialist is a dangerous thing in this day and age.

Should do what all old footballers used to do, buy a pub, that would keep him out of trouble. -

Im pretty sure its mental health and maybe young offenders ? -
Thats irrelevant, I wont believe it until I see a picture of it lying on Jimbos bed on some unrelated blog.

worryingly, the following quote comes from the only person on here who is involved in mental health IIRC. sensitivity overload. -
To be fair, I think it shows he's got a bit about him. I have far more respect for a player that does that, football decisions rather than the lure of cash.

Aye, I'll still be in Leeds. The way it works for your first year as a doctor is three jobs lasting four months each. I've got four months in Huddersfield, then four in Calderdale (Halifax) then another four in Calderdale. Thought about living in but seeing as it isn't free I'm gonna bite the bullet and commute. So that'l be 4 in Huddersfield and 8 in Calderdale then.

Have you any cash to invest? Don't be put off by the 'sensible advise'. Although it is well meaning no one on here can have any clue as to your vision inc me. I have a feeling though that Toms 'vision' here is more based on the thought of spending all day with mates playing name that tune than it is on sound financial views and a business plan.

so what was the turnover? how much was the rent? gross profit margin? It's not entirely relevant, really. The point of this thread was that Tom wanted to know how to go about opening a record store. Immediately everyone told him not to bother because it's a waste of money. My counter-point is that, in my experience, you can still make a profit. You only have to look at places like Sister Ray and Rough Trade in London, Ameoba in San Francisco, even a little independent store in Norman, Oklahoma, to see that there's still a place in the world for record stores. I think the point Im making though is that generally you dont need to have any knowledge of music shops or the record industry par se to know that opening a record shop is an extremely risky business strategy in this day and age. Yes it could work but chances are you have to appeal to a small cross section of the music buying public, those that want to have the shiny bit of plastic in their hands, those that collect 6 different versions of the same album because they have different coloured sleeves etc. Then you're competing in a small market with the likes of eBay, again a non starter. If anything has been hit hard by the internet and file sharing its the music industry. Add in the fact that more and more people are turning to MP3 rather than CD and it all says "DONT DO IT!!"
