1. Why is it that there are never any match threads about Switzerland's games? Senderos has a suspected broken arm and/or dislocated shoulder after scoring in the first half, unlucky. Still 1-0.
2. Klose isn't overrated when you compare him to all those massively overhyped English strikers. You can't argue with his stats either. Having said that, I'm not totally convinced about him and I think he's some way from being the 'world class player' the Germans make him out to be.
3. Re: the interview posted above, the way he stresses how much of a Liverpool fan he is is interesting...when he was playing for us he would often say that we were the biggest club he'd ever want to play for...
4. Exactly. I could understand the people who said there was no way back for Bellamy after what happened (even though I didn't agree), but the amount of people who agreed with Souness when he said that Bellamy was never really good enough as a footballer was embarrassing. I'll hate to see Bellamy do well for Liverpool next season, but you've got to hand it to him - he was laughed at for ending up at Blackburn, he remained silent when Souness kept dishing out bullshit about the fantastic team spirit, he worked hard and he got his dream move in the end. Fair play and good luck to him. From our point of view you'd hope that he goes back to missing large parts of next season through injury...
5. Exactly. Do people think we have an endless pit of money after Souness fucked the club up completely. We are desperately short of strikers and need to bring in a cheaper short term signing who whilst not at their peak is proven in the premiership. 152486 Agree. Hasselbaink would be a decent signing on a short-term contract.
6. When was the last time a Newcastle player scored at a World Cup? Shearer in 1998?
7. Bollocks. I got a new cruciate ligament last year after it had not been discovered that it was torn for at least a year. I had this operation at a hospital being specialised on cruciate ligament damages and doing over 400 cruciate ligament operations each year and are the team docs of the Jorman national handball team. The operation is pretty much standard for them nowadays and the vast majority of people do take a full recovery, either if professional sportsmen or not. Of course there is a certain risk, but I wouldn't call it serious these days. I do actually know very few sportsmen who had to retire in recent year's because of this kind of injury. 152088 Sounds better
8. Milner staying will only make a positive difference if he is played in a more central role.
9. If Owen's wages are fully covered by insurance as has been claimed, it should at least give as a few million extra to spend on a (very) cheap replacement.
10. Will be moved if we're in the UEFA Cup, which we will be. So it's not a bad start to the season.
11. That's what I'm worried about.
12. The fans will be pleasantly surprised, etc.
13. I'm not his biggest fan, but Alex Frei, Switzerland's main striker and currently at Rennes, is looking for a move and wouldn't be expensive seeing as his contract expires next year. He's strongly rumoured to join Borussia Dortmund after the World Cup, but apparently no deal has been done yet. Wouldn't be the worst option in the world.
14. What we need is a winning start to the season and an easy game at home against a team like Portsmouth or Fulham. It's the only way we'll have a better season than last year, considering Owen's injury etc.
15. I've just got home and seen this. FUCK.
16. To be honest, Owen's injury ruined it for me last night. I'm sure he would have got at least a goal if he'd made the right runs. Hargreaves and J. Cole had great games, Crouch was abysmal. Hopefully Gerrard will play in his place against Ecuador.
17. Fuck. I'm gutted for Owen as well.
18. 70,000 Germans shouting "Sieg! Sieg!", sounds like the old days.
