So yes we are still in limbo with the same old stories being churned out day after day but the longer it goes on the more it is looking likely that Fat Ashley is going to remain in charge. We have a squad that currently has only 3 (experienced) defenders in Enrique, Taylor and Colo. We have already lost Beye, Bassong, Cacapa and Edgar and its more or less common knowledge that Enrique and Colo are just waiting for the call to move on and I would not be surprised to see Moyes sniffing about Taylor should they lose their battle to hold on to Lescott. Up front we have lost Owen, Viduka, Martins and Lovenkrands leaving us with only two strikers in Shola (don't think I need to cover opinion on how useful he is) and Carroll, who in my opinion is far from the player many on these forums think he is. He throws himself about and gives us a good physical prescence but he is very inexperienced having only had 23 starts for us and 3 goals to date (11 starts/1 goal for Preston) The big irony is that our biggest weakness last season, our midfield, is currently our strongest part of the team. Again though Jonas is just waiting on a move and the likes of Smith, Butt, Geremi, Nolan, Guthrie are all similar type of players and along with Barton an Duff are eating up the majority of our wage bill. Yes we have young players on the fringe such as Kadar, Ranger, Vuckic, Lua Lua but they have little or no experience at first team level and we cannot go pinning our hopes on these youngsters. We have a game moved for TV now being played on the evening of 31st August, that evening where we normally sit glued to SSN waiting to see some last minute moves, usually leaving us bitterly disappointed as we sign no one or the likes of Sibierski. This year however if Ashley is still in charge it could be so much more than being disappointed, this year we could see the tight bastard still in charge, the likes of O'Leary in charge at the club, little or more likely no signings brought in to a tiny squad and lets be honest several of those currently in the squad in present will be gone if any offers come in. We think things are bad right now but should Ashley not go I think we all know its going to get a whole lot worse, but whilst there are arguments currently if protesting is the right or wrong thing to do I think come August 31st, the typically manic deadline today where supporters lose all rational thoughts in the hope that their club sign Etos, Messis and Kakas, putting together an even weakened squad, some beers before the game and god help them if we get a poor result this may cause an uproar in the stands and all hell to break loose. Heres hoping a takeover happens soon (wishful thinking) but if any of the above comes about its certainly going to make the Leicester match one hell of a night. *I missed out Xisco, the forgotten man, but I think that says it all when it comes to him.*

Xisco looking shite is probably the fans fault too

I know this isn't the main point of your post but personally I don't subscribe to this statement. The main reason we went down was our esteemed owner gambled on the existing squad and temporary management being good enough throughout the majoirty of the season, and he only tried to do something about it when it was way way too late. It's true we were only one point short, but I don't think a general lack of support was the reason we didn't get that extra point. I would put the owner, club/team management and players well ahead of the supporters in that sense. We still would have been shit, that's for sure. But would we have lost at home to a pathetic Hull side? (just to name one match that was VASTLY influenced by the turmoil and unrest at the club). I know it's pointless to speculate but I truly think that if there wasn't so much hatred, blame and finger pointing then the general improved atmosphere at the club would have translated to better performances on the field, and may also have meant that Ashley and his cronies didn't go into hiding, whilst taking virtually no action to stop the rot. Aye its us fuckers that go to the games fault we went down..

Mike Ashley weighing up St James’s return
Scottish Mag replied to Christmas Tree 's topic in Newcastle Forum
No doubt it'll be discussed at the Members meeting on Thursday night. Will there be a webcast? I dont think so, being a members meeting it would need to be private which cannot be guaranteed webwise at the mo. Once the full members area is up and running on the site properly then maybe it can be done but for now it would just be those there. Nae bother chief! -

I have a second team just for a mess about but have not added it to the Toontastic league. Its made up of all Scots plying their trade in the Championship and actually looks better than my original team. Will be interesting to see how the 2 of them compare over the season.

Ha ha ha. How rich is that coming from you? Mr Beentothemoontwice.

Shows you how much we have fallen when Smith is our best player. Fair play to the lad though hes had a good 45 minutes. Shola please, please fuck off... I see we still have the heads down metality the minute a goal goes against us.

He'll be the next out the door if the likes of Everton come in with an offer..

No manager, an owner who is desperate to sell up. Lost our 3 top strikers in Owen, Viduka and Martins (even Lovenkrands done a job) lost/about to lose arguably our two best defenders in Bassong and Beye (regardless of opinions of how good they are have also lost 2 back up centre halfs in Edgar and Cacapa) and have half the team unmotivated and can't wait to go (Xisco, Colo, Enrique, Guti etc) and the other half is utter gash (Nolan, Smith, Duff, R Taylor, Shola etc) with no replacements having come in. Dunno about you lot but I can't fucking wait on the season starting tomorrow..
-
Jose will be next out after Colo and if Ashley doesn't sell up I could see him cashing in on Stevie Taylor too. Moyes will probably see him as a good replacement for Lescott..
-
He will need to hope that Harry picks players on their form and not on experience and reputation as once Corluka, Dawson, King and Woodgate are all fit he could struggle to get a game. As much as it kills me to say it, those 5 plus Hutton, Naughton, Bale, Walker and Chimbonda must be a good selection headache to have.

Fee agreed with Hull

Can't blame them for holding off to the start of next week for that very reason tbh

Well Smiths a starter seeing as he is captain...
