I'm up for that, and if we can decide on a place then I'll book it too. Do we want somewhere fairly grown-up rather than Pizza Hut? 125243 I vote for a place for the grown ups, even if we need some booster seats. I want some decent "scran", i`m not travelling all the way down to Newcastle for a Pizza Hut. Although i`m sure Gemmill would be up for the "all you can eat buffet".

Now the footballs confirmed, does anyone have any suggestions for where we could go for a meal later on in the day? And what kind of numbers are up for that?

I`m in, and as far as i know Jimbo, Peasepud and Matt are all wanting a game.

'excuse'.......there was a disorderly fucking queue formed as I recall. 125060 It wasn't exactly a fucking queue. Most of the smelly bastards on here never even went for a shower...

If it was possible to get publicity i suggest maybe a name change for you AF, I couldn't see the press keen on reporting on the latest World Cup anthem written by Asprillas Foreskin.... -
Can't we book somewhere outdoors on astroturf? Hate playing indoors me! 125008 Astroturf is for puffs. Indoors is where its at. On concrete. Mans game. 125015 And the 5 a sides is closer to the pubs..

Have you thought about how you would market it, get publicity? If it is "half decent" even though its for Engerland, in a few weeks time i`d be willing to try and help you within that area. -
Depends what lifes like under Roeder? I do not think for a minute he had a problem previously under Souness. Whilst he might not have been impressed by our performances on the park, off it picking up 120 grand a week (or whatever hes paid), playing 5 a side football in the morning and spending the afternoons at the horses i`m sure softened the blow. *Thats not a dig at Owen btw, more the point that i think most people would be happy with that standard of lifestyle under Souness*

I hope he doesn't go to the World Cup and before anyone pipes up it has nothing to do with me being Scottish. I would much rather concentrate on getting him fit for "Newcastle United" and the start of next season. Even if he did go there is no chance if England get far in the competition that he`ll be able to play all the games..

Michael Walker Friday April 21, 2006 The Guardian Michael Owen's World Cup prospects are in fresh doubt after Newcastle United revealed yesterday that he is unlikely to be fit enough to play at Birmingham City on Saturday week. That means the striker will be available only for Newcastle's last game of the season, at home to Chelsea on May 7, with the England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson having to name his preliminary squad for Germany the following day. "Michael has done everything our medical staff have asked of him," said the Newcastle caretaker manager, Glenn Roeder, "but the most we can now hope for is to have him back for the final game." Whether Owen can do enough in 90 minutes - providing his right foot withstands the strain - to satisfy Eriksson cannot be certain and the Swede will remember taking a less than 100% fit David Beckham to the last World Cup. That cost England in their quarter-final against Brazil, although it could be argued that with the six weeks before England meet Paraguay in Frankfurt containing two England friendlies and an England B game, Eriksson would be taking a greater risk in omitting Owen from his squad. Newcastle are likely to arrange a behind-closed-doors match for Owen before the Chelsea game and there is also Alan Shearer's testimonial on Thursday 11 May - Newcastle face Celtic at St James' Park - in which Owen could play. Eriksson names his final World Cup squad on Monday May 15. Owen has not yet taken part in a full Newcastle training session after sustaining his injury on December 31 last year in a collision with the Tottenham and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson. Owen fractured his fifth metatarsal and had a pin inserted soon after. Recovery was expected to take between 12 and 14 weeks but just as Newcastle were expecting the 26 year-old back, at the beginning of this month, Owen felt new pain and had to have a new screw inserted in his toe. For Newcastle, chasing a European place without the injured Shearer, Owen's news is depressing. They have had scant repayment on the £16m they paid to Real Madrid last August and will have to deal with constant speculation that Owen will leave Tyneside after the World Cup. The fans can console themselves, however, with a comment made by Owen on March 27: "The club [Newcastle] and the fans have been great to me and I want to pay them back."

Was mentioned around a few of us a couple of weeks back, seeing as the decision making on here used to be so bad until we settled on the Trent at One every other week i though we better start the ball rolling on this. There has been talks about actually going out for a meal, and a couple of us have spoken about getting a 5 a side match amongst ourselves during the day. Provisional date of Saturday 15th July i propose (seeing as Jimbo will be available to come up that weekend and i know how gutted he is at not coming to Shearers Testimonial after getting his hand on a ticket) Discuss

He's a Rangers supporter. His interviews with any Rangers player in the past on Scottish TV were cring material... Infamous in Scotland for the occasion in which with his droney voice he asked Brian Laudrup looking at him with a look like a lovesick teenager would with a boy band member. "So Brian, how are you so good...." Proper bluenose tbh..

NEWCASTLE United are ready to stun football by appointing Glenn Roeder as boss in a new-look set-up at St James' Park. Toon have been linked with some of the top young managers in the country since sacking Graeme Souness in February, but caretaker chief Roeder will be offered the job if he can take the club into the UEFA Cup. He has insisted he does not want the job permanently, but now the former youth academy boss is close to being officially promoted after impressing chairman Freddy Shepherd with his cool head since taking charge. The Geordie plan is for Roeder to be installed alongside a senior partner in a 'director of football' role - with Lyon chief Gerard Houllier top of the wanted list. Roeder is emerging as the leading candidate because of his good run of results - and snags with potential long-term replacements like Martin O'Neill. The one-time West Ham manager will be offered the job if Newcastle finish the season in a European place. He could even get the nod if they finish the season in style but just miss out. They face Sunderland today with stand-in bosses Roeder and Kevin Ball going head-to-head in a game where the winner will have a much improved chance of becoming their clubs' full-time managers. Newcastle are six points off Blackburn in sixth place and a storming finish could transform their season. Former Liverpool boss Houllier may be tempted to come back to England and his experience would help Roeder, whose only short-coming is his lack of expertise and experience in the transfer market.

Scored a penalty today.

I have yet to see anyone state they never wanted Newcastle to do well... 121963 well the 5 or 6 posts above did. they said if us getting into the uefa cup meant boro winning it this season, theyd rather we didnt get in. 121966 The question never stated we wouldnt get in to Europe though... We would still hopefully get into the Uefa Cup by going down the Intertoto route....
