  1. correct, no point in people getting all moralistic about money and proclaiming proudly that you aren't sinking to their levels, because at the end of the day, football is all about money, money can buy you success in life, the people with the money rule the world, the people with the money have the means to rule football, nobody complained about money when we bought Alan Shearer and they won't moan if we ever pull off such a signing again which would be fantastic if we ever do. I don't like Man City winning the league, I accept reluctantly they have bought it [ because I'm jealous and I admit that I am jealous without having to make comments bathed in bitterness about it ] but it is sad they have won the league on a footballing level because of the behaviour of two of their players in particular that have disgraced the game. I would rather clubs won the prizes who perform and behave like good or great professional, disciplined football clubs.
  2. why would Pardew leave NUFC for Liverpool more like it
  3. Carrick is better than Parker like.
  4. did anybody see it the other night ?
  5. So much for the so-called new generation of stars that would emerge when Howard Wilkinson was appointed the technical director of it's youth centre product that started all those years ago, with the cash from the Premiership that we were told would reap all those dividends. Oh wait a moment, was that Howard Wilkinson of the helicopter football fame ?
  6. no I didn't. Noelie may have done though .........
  7. nailed on, absolutely correct from start to finish. it won't be long before Man City are crowing just as unbearably as Man U fans have done, you don't need to be Mystic Meg to see that, and unlike Arsenal and ManU on a few occasions, they have nothing to be proud of this season or preach about others following the behaviour of some of their players.
  8. I think in the book I've told you about, it says he studied [and supported] Borussia Monchengladbach when he was a kid/teenager too.
  9. you should read that book I recommded in the other thread.
  10. He's a genius. Wenger and Ferguson, are probably the 2 best managers in the premiership so far in fact only Mourinho has matched them and could be put in the same class.
  11. not sure about that, but they are both tosspots
  12. at the end of the day, you get where you are over the course of a season, adapting to all weathers, conditions, injuries, suspensions, team spirit, ability of the players, tactics and motivations, but if you lose these sort of games too often and to that degree are inconsistent, then it means that you are not really good enough, this is also a reflection of the fact that quite a bit of improvement is needed to go higher. Where luck comes in, is getting away with changing too many players and coming up trumps while holding back transfer funds. Carr and Pardew have done very well, but does anybody really think these sort of dealings can continue to work indefinitely ? As much as I would like to think otherwise, Carr and Pardew while obviously good at what they do, are no Brian Clough and Peter Taylore.
  13. the difference between myself and you, TP, is that you are basically happy for the club to make money and tread water while selling its best players, isn't it, rather than have ambitions on the playing side of things, isn't it ? Do you think that, now the cash for Carroll has disappeared and the club is now in "good financial health", there are grounds for saying that any more money from big sales for silly money will be given completely to the manager to improve the team as much as possible or are you going to continue to accept that money will disappear and he will not get it. I believe PaddockLad has made a similar point also in direct response to yourself ?
  14. We will see what happens now, if the club wants to grow, which is what people are saying.
  15. no intention of looking I would imagine its infested with viruses now !!!!!
  16. yep, that is right. A misconception though, to be fair, is that ManU fans are all gloryseekers. I'm not defending them at all, I've met some who are the biggest arseholes you could hope to meet, but I've met one or two others who are from Manchester and as much into their local team as anybody, without having to be overbearing and arrogant tossers either. A bit patronising maybe, but I suppose that comes with years of success and they don't really realise, it isn't deliberate, it's no different to us looking down on the smoggies perhaps.
  17. it's not to promote the company, and keep the cash, is it though ? Shock, horror.
  18. just the start. Deaders may have his own way of putting things, but sometimes he is more aware than quite a number of other people. You have to bear in mind though, the Man City fan is presuming the rest of the country is pleased Man City won that league, bordering on a mentality similar to Scotland perhaps in that everyone presumes you have to "support" Rangers or Celtic depending on your religious and/or bigoted persuasion. Clearly not the case. One thing for sure is that if WE had won that league, we would have been far more popular winners than any other team who have won the premiership since its beginning, for all the right reasons. While it is nice to see it spread around, that's the only positive I can see myself. The antics of Tevez and Balotelli were sickening for football. I'm not saying Man City will have to get rid of them if they want to be popular or anything, because basically if you are winning you don't give a toss what others think of you and ManU fans, and Liverpool, are living proof of that, but he is wrong to think the whole country is rejoicing. That closet mentality may exist in Manchester but not really anywhere else in such depth.
  19. more money in the transfer kitty then.
