  1. if the club finish 6th they will be in the Europa Cup. If they finish 7th they will also be in unless Everton reach the FA Cup Final [assuming its Liverpool who overtake us in the league]. According to wiki (not that reliable), its only 6th that get. If 3 teams get places, then it is the 5th in the league, FA Cup Winners and League Cup winners who are normally nominated for the places. UEFA don't usually go against the nominated clubs. As Liverpool have already qualified by virtue of winning the League Cup against a lower division team, the overtaking us will be irrelevant, although if they don't win on sunday its unlikely now they would catch us anyway. That leaves Chelsea 5th [probably], us and Liverpool [as FA Cup winners and already qualified]. Chelsea have already qualified if they win the FA Cup [any are still in the Champions League] or Spurs [who will finish 4th or maybe 3rd in the premiership] If they nominate less than 3 clubs then feel free to say this is wrong, but I'm presuming they nominate 3 teams. Therefore the only scenario that can stop us is Chelsea finishing 5th, and Everton playing in the FA Cup Final alongside Liverpool who have already qualified.
  2. did you reply to the post from HF where he pointed out to you that the club kept its best players and added a good player to the team in January, hence it consolidated its position rather than go downwards ? ? The sun rose this morning, not sure I'd reply to a post stating that either. HF pointed out we kept out best players did he? Did he just want to tell me I'd been right all along or something? He then pointed out that we had added a good player to the team? That's great of him to do that but everyone can see Cissé is good. We've consolidated our position now? Great, things are moving in the right direction. Seems like we're all aligned in our positive outlooks then. indeed he did, for the first time in 9? [can't be bothered to count] transfer windows. Will this forward progressive policy continue in the summer, especially with lots of the Carroll money left ? As you didn't answer HF, you can answer me instead, and I know where my money would go.

  4. It can get quite complicated. But here's a simple example. We sign Fred Bloggs for £10m. He is on a 5 year contract, so we add his transfer fee to the books at £10m (as an intangible asset), and account for £2m of it each season. If we sell him when he's 4 years into his contract, he will be "valued" at £2m. If we sell for more than £2m, the excess will be profit. If we sell for less than £2m, we make a loss. Additionally, if we work out after a year that he's actually Xisco in disguise, we might have grounds for writing off his entire contract in one go, taking the hit straight away (I believe we've already done this with Xisco and Alan Smith). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depreciation Sadly, this doesn't change the fact that if you want success in football, you back your manager and a big club like NUFC with the 14th biggest revenues in the game ought to be able to hand the entire cash from a sale to its manager and back him in this way.

  6. We made a £32m profit after player trading. exactly
  7. that is the big statement. I'm being serious too, I always have been. Whatever the pros and cons right now of borrowing money and spending ambitiously/beyond your means (delete as appropriate), the argument is pointless going forward as all clubs are restricted from doing it. plenty of money left from the sale of Carroll though, if they truly want to "go forward" they will do what they did in January this summer, as you have pointed out. However, I expect more excuses instead.
  8. that is the big statement. I'm being serious too, I always have been.
  9. no I didn't. Aren't you going to do it and represent the views of the forum ? Here you go again, telling me what I think! So what was my point? what is my "viewpoint" that Stevie "agrees with" ?
  10. not a "viewpoint" but facts. Stevie is not deluded by a half decent season like some. The first half decent season in 5 years proves nothing. They will have to repeat and better this season for a few more years yet to "prove my viewpoint" wrong. Missed my point but never mind. no I didn't. Aren't you going to do it and represent the views of the forum ?
  11. I've told him you have been in front of a mic before, did well and your knowledge is very good. LM-speak for "you agree with my viewpoint" not a "viewpoint" but facts. Stevie is not deluded by a half decent season like some. The first half decent season in 5 years proves nothing. They will have to repeat and better this season for a few more years yet to "prove my viewpoint" wrong.
  12. In fairness Craig was just humouring you there dafty.Since that's not where it shows up. It's a page in the admin panel and it shows you a summary of everything related to "whatever" you're looking up, even if you reg'd an account and then switched ip's somewhere down the line, i'd still know it was originally reg'd with the first one. Why don't you stick craig on ignore, or Gemmill etc then none of those posts would've cropped up... oh yes that's right i forgot because you don't want to ignore people even though you clearly can't handle them/anyone else. never ending story like you're not telling my anything I don't know Ant. I think putting people on ignore just because you don't agree with them is just being a big baby to be honest. These forums are about having different opinions. I don't threaten anybody, seriously abuse anybody. It's not really my fault if the vast majority of people don't "agree" with me despite most of what I've said would happen 4-5 years ago now happening and will continue. I tried to revert to another username as an acknowledgement that a change was needed, but a foolish poster told everybody what it was and while some of the older posters would have known it was me, a lot of newer ones would not and as I said, I wouldn't have made it obvious. I tried to ask a couple of posters what exactly it is, from a summary, that they have said is "rubbish" and neither of them replied, and they didn't reply because they know that they can't. And it was me who was put in the sin bin, do you seriously want me to agree with the majority of people even though I know that they are wrong about the future prospects of the football club ? I think its the fact that other people can't handle the fact that what I have said is correct, rather than what you say. If this is not correct it is still open for them to reply to that post like adults and move on like adults. One poster has posted a pm from me on the open forum. Why is this allowed ? If it were one of yours, I bet you would delete it. Why do people reply to posts for other people when they don't answer me, a small number of posters do this constantly, then demand I answer. Maybe that would help if they stopped doing that, just a thought ? What do you want me to do when 10 people demand I answer a question ............. I've said in a pm to you and other admin that I realise it is all getting a bit daft, are others recognising this, or is it just me ? There certainly seems that fuck all is done about repetitive posts made by others when its only me who is put in the sin bin.
  13. aye, he used to sprint 50 yards in 75 seconds in his prime without spilling a drop. and he was only a wee man. Years of dedication and a constitution of iron, Scottish survival of the fittest in action aye. RIP
  14. I've told him you have been in front of a mic before, did well and your knowledge is very good.
  15. I thought your point that keeping your best players and actually building on it in January would have attracted more disagreement than it did. Should be quite interesting this summer, to see who else is added, with plenty of the Carroll cash left.
  16. Jocky on the oche. Only certain snooker players like Bill Werbienek (sp?) could have rivalled Jocky in alcohol consumption whilst playing their sport at the highest level. I don't see Bolt downing 20 pints with a few vodka "steadiers" and running 100m under 10 seconds. In fact thinking about it Jocky may be one of the greatest athletes the world has ever seen. aye, he used to sprint 50 yards in 75 seconds in his prime without spilling a drop.
  17. sorry, was that your reply to what I asked you ? Of course, that particular stupid post was made, without any prompting, while I held a gun to your head, so it's all my fault.
  18. knowledgeable people like Gloomy, Gemmill, mancmag, Craig, toonpack, jaysouthernmag or CT who have been supporters and matchgoers for decades, should give a fair representation of the views of the majority of toontastic posters and echo the superb job being done by the current owner of the football club and his sidekick, including their blueprint of "how you can continue to progress from 6th in the premiership while continuing to sell your best players". Should be interesting.
  19. Get busy then old chap. was that the anonymous clown in the backround piping up there ?
  20. Tommy Knox was as good as Pat Heard
  21. The missing post? probably. Where is the fool who started this thread though ?
