1. Aye, Bellamy called him correctly !
2. I am not prepared to give him a chance. Why should I do that ? Would you be prepared to give Peter Reid a chance ? Would you be prepared to give , say, Gary Breen a chance as a player ? If not, why not ? Because you think he is shite. Well, I think Souness is shite. End of. Results so far have proved this to be correct, and I am absolutely confident that he will be proven in the end to be shite ie the day he walks we will see our fortunes change for the better. I don't have a hatred of him for any other reason that he is a shite manager and has behaved like a complete arsehole since he walked through the door of the club. If you don't agree with that, fair enough, but IMO people who can't see this by looking at his track record, his persona as a man - manager, and his results are living in cloud cuckoo land and in fact doing nothing other than wearing rose tinted specs © What is it that people like you suddenly think a man who has been a twat and ruined clubs everywhere he has been is suddenly going to be a world beater just because he turns up on the doorstep of SJP. Get real. I see you are coming the "like to see him fail" shite....well myself and the others who want rid of him think this is for the better long term prospects of the club, and that is because we have judgment, right or wrong, and are prepared to say what we believe honestly and not be influenced by whether or not someone plays for or manages Newcastle. Which means you are wearing rose tinted specs © Don't bother posting at the end of the season and saying that Souness has been a success for clearing out the "bad eggs", and finishing 11th or 12th in the league, for millions and millions of pounds, and expect me to agree. Because, in my view, this is a complete lowering of standards, in fact a pathetic lowering of standards. The twat wants kicking off the tyne bridge with a brick tied to his bollocks for the football we are serving up and the results we have had since he took over.
3. I doubt that very much. And - in the event that is was true, that is the gist of the problem, we have zero confidence in Souness getting the best out of any team he ever put out. And anyway, football is a squad. You NEVER have your first 11 fit, for long. Before Souness came to Newcastle we had a SQUAD that finished 4th, 3rd and 5th We have not signed 5 players "better than Bellamy". We have signed Alan Shearers replacement. We have signed no one yet to replace Bellamy. If you include Luque in that, he has not played a game in the premiership yet, so has proved absolutely nothing. Who are the other 4 ? Boumsong, an overpriced defender better than Craig Bellamy ?? You are off your rocker chum. The long term implications of the amount of money we have spent too, should be fairly obvious to anyone, especially as next summer we will have to find big money to buy a partner for Owen, having sold Bellamy. Do you think we will have another 15m quid, because sure as hell I don't.
4. I know he built a decent team at Blackburn, at first, then blew it away. Why ?Because basically he's a fool. He made inspired signings in Cole and Yorke, at giveaway prices from his mate. He already had Duff and Dunn. The next confrontation is always around the corner with Souness. I don't believe he runs a happy club, with players believing in their ability and playing to their limit, he is too regimented in his approach and rules by fear, he isn't a man who knows how to motivate players with the sympathetic touch when it is needed. In the end, every player [or person] has those moments and he can't deal with it, and ends up with unhappy players or at best ones who realise he is cold and a poor man manager. His managerial record, and fall outs signify this, as does his body language sometimes and his constant hypocritical comments and judgements too suggest he is the type of boss who you simply never know how to take him. I concede his replacment is a problem, but it shouldn't be. Managers like Hitzfeld are out there, if Shepherd took his head out of his "got to be a geordie" arse it would be an easy decision.
5. nah, a team of good players, needing freshening up. Any team that finishes 5th isn't far away from 4th, 3rd etc...just the right players in the right areas thats all. It's all about standards, we are Newcastle, even during a re-building process we should still be in with a shout of europe. Those players were a good set of players, for the most part, or they wouldn't have finished 5th. Souness said it himself. Any sensible manager wouldn't have disturbed it much, made a couple of buys and slowly made his own changes. Instead the fool came charging in with a battering ram to show everyone who the boss was and screwed it all up. And cost us a fortune in the process which just wasn't necessary. Over and above that, any team under Souness will clog their way through games, argue with referees, and lack positive outlook. All of his teams have done. He's a 3rd rate manager who if he hadn't managed Rangers and gained a reputation on the back of winning an easy league with one of the only 2 clubs that exist would have disappeared from football management years and years ago.
6. Do you see my sig ? It signifies not just the game in question, but the complete demise of a once great football club, in front of the whole world watching on sky, and the ascendance of the team who looked like their likely successors. After decades of losing to the scousers, we turned the tables on them. Not in one defeat in one day, but the whole scenario. Their time at the top was over. We were above them, we had a better team for the first time since the 1950's. And we let them know it. And who was their manager ? Yes, 30,000 geordies sang "Souness for Sunderland". Having witnessed a fair amount of humilations at their hands, this day was and will always be one of my best ever days as a Newcastle supporter. Absolutely fantastic. And the geordies who sang it, if you had told any one of them that one day this idiot would be in charge of our football club, yes OUR football club, and even ONE fan would support him, they would never have believed you.
7. amazing long range telescope you have for such a short sighted view 42572 Do you ever change the record? Its easy and lazy to moan without providing any solutions. I see we won a great deal with god knows how many managers in the last 30 years and you propose more of the same? Of course, you for manager, the obvious choice, a self proclaimed expert. 42617 An obvious start would have been not to appoint fuckwit at all The next obvious start would have been to sack him last October The next obvious start would have been to sack him in December etc etc All of these points made, at the time, not just by me. IMO the opinions of those say keep Souness who don't sit through and watch the complete dirge is the biggest broken record of all
8. what I am referring to, is the fact that, if you thought we were at the beginning of a huge slide down to 14th you should have said so, if you had done you would have been the only one to make such an amazingly correct prediction. Because, most of us realised we were at a crossroads, because we thought we were underachieving. If you had made such a spot on prediction and had now correctly claimed so, you would quite rightly have got a huge round of applause for such foresight. Perhaps if I had seen it myself as well I wouldn't be so hard on Souness. And no I'm not taking the piss ....
9. which other board do you refer to here ? I do not recally ANYONE saying Bellamy should go "because he was a bad influence" until Souness said so. On the contrary, a do recall a fair amount of people saying he would get rid of our flair players and turn us into a team clogging their way through games etc etc...and lower down the league. Ironic that this is what has happened, and people like you are now re-writing the script, now this sort of thing is EXACTLY what I call rose tinted specs © Stick with the first prediction, it was the best one. There were people who said Bellamy should have been sold a few years ago because he "wasn't scoring 20 goals"...which was pointed out to be pretty daft seeing as he was injured, and even when he did play he was largely not fully fit and in pain [consider that when those who say he "didn't want to play for the club"] and also he wasn't an out and out goalscorer but a support striker who made things happen, and happened to be the ideal partner for Shearer getting older and being less mobile. However, they mostly disappeared sharpish when we qualified for the Champions League again and he scored the winner in Rotterdam. And again at the beginning of last season, when he was without any shadow of doubt the best player at the club until master fuckwit decided to play him out of position, "for the good of the club". Stupid shite.
10. Did you watch any of those games? Because if you did you would know that, first half against Man City excepted, we were completely shit and very fortunate to get more than 3 points. You've just proved how well Souness has lowered expectations - this shit we are forced to endure is good enough for you and if you disagree you are then a whiner. 42556 Lowered expectations, no trophies since 1955 (apart from Fairs cup), what expectations should I have??? I call it realism, the result of supporting NUFC pre Keegan. Yeah, and I hate watching Chelsea but they win. If its all about entertainment, get a ticket for the panto. 42557 is this when Souness will finally be trashed ?

If he spent his hard cash going to games instead of sitting at home watching it with a bottle of bud and a packet of popcorn he may think differently ........ Can't get over this judgement that Luque is an important player, having played 2 bitty games in the premiership mind you, must be because he's a foreigner, cost a lot of money, or both
12. amazing long range telescope you have for such a short sighted view
13. but we DID finish 5th. If we were going backwards quickly, why didn't you tell us at the time ? Also - pretty much the majority feeling too, AT THE TIME, was that we were underachieving when we were 5th. Believe it or not, that is why Bobby Robson was removed from his job. There is only one thing worse than someone who uses hindsight, or changes their spots, and that is someone who puts on rose tinted specs © to go with it 42094 sums you up really, unable to change your mind, and theres nowt wrong with changing your spots,if you understand you were wrong.something you could never do...its not being right, its winning the argument that matters eh ? 42103 I'm not changing my mind, the league is what I'm looking at, and the league doesn't lie. As I said, if we were going backwards [all the way to 14th], you should have said so at the time. If you had, you would have been the only one ...
14. How many times was Shearer injured under SBR? To my knowledge, he's yet to suffer one under Souness. If his team can't train the players properly and cause injuries, why hasn't one of the most injury-prone players of recent NUFC times, in the twilight of his career (therefore more susceptible to injury) been living on the treatment table? Another example is Jonathan Woodgate. If Souness' team has got it so wrong, and so different to SBR, why was Woodgate always injured under SBR? 42063 As you are intent on arguing Souness case until the end matey, can I just say that if not for Souness "improving the team by selling a player he didn't want" we could have been playing Bellamy and Owen up front. Can I also say that I have never made a point of mentioning specific injuries to specific players, there are always swings and roundabouts, the same as motivation factors in players ie it's all well and good pointing out that players like Bramble have improved, it doesn't in any way compensate for the fact that others have gone backwards,. it just negates it. BUT - at the end of the day, my point is as it has always been. Results. Where were we in the league, where are we now. How were we playing, were we playing like a good side, do we now ? In both cases, the answer is that we have gone backwards. And are millions of quid worse off as well.

16. Have they been tried ? Much as I hate the Daily Mail, this mentality doesn't wash. We have been dealing with the shit-brained turds that vandalise and act aggressively to anyone who even looks at them and most often you don't even need to do THAT even knives are common now - in the politically correct manner by people who sneer at the "Daily Mail type solutions" for the past TWENTY YEARS - and the situation is FAR FAR FAR worse that it was when I was a kid in the seventies, BECAUSE of that PC viewpoint being allowed to dominate - if it worked we'd be seeing evidence by now - all we are seeing as how much worse it is - and getting worse daily. Maybe actually giving the "Daily Mail type solutions" might work - but it would mean the end of cushy little numbers for the PC brigade - parasites each and every one. The incompetents responsible for the "My rights - I can do anything I want and you can't touch me" mentality amongst the kids. I wasn't aware you were one of those PC types, Rob. 42054 to add to the above, it's a fact that the country has changed drastically. I am all for zero tolerance too. The reason that knives are more common - and used too - is tied in with all of the other thing discussed in the other posts, as well as another which wasn't. We, today in the UK, have allowed a lot of people into the country who have a far less regard for life than we did 20 or 30 years ago as well..
17. How the fuck has JJ managed to get in there again... and ahead of Parker too 42051 I don't know how many midfielders I have seen play for Newcastle, hundreds, but I can honestly say that there are dozens, and dozens better than Jeanarse. He would be halfway in a list if I could be arsed to think about making one up. Simply amazing what these professionals see in him ..... Darren Bent is an interesting one. How many of us would have advocated buying him a year ago !!!! I think [or hope] Beckham plays on the right, he should never play anywhere else. Problem then is though, such fantastic crossing ability and Defoe and Owen in the middle....looks like it would be Crouch and our own Micky O then
18. I just remember him - mostly my Dad and Brother mourning his loss. The saddest thing is that as far as I know it would be a simple op nowadays. 42045 I think nowadays it is an op which can be fixed, the cruciate ligament is the one that also finished Brian Clough, and I think is what did for Gazza too. It might in some cases leave it weaker, and you may not survive your career if you did it twice but it happened to him and he was finished. He was all about twisting and turning, quickly, and this sort of thing is crucial to players who play like that. At his testimonial he hobbled off at half time. One of the saddest things I've ever seen on a football field, a great player and my all time Newcastle hero. I was playing once at Kenton Bank Foot, and he used to come and watch, with his boxer dog. The ball went out for a throw and he kicked it back at me and said "go on Steve".....I nearly bloody fainted I still have the programme of his testimonial, the same one that PL uses in his avatar somewhere.
19. The one thing I don't understand about Abramovic is, why the fuck did he choose bloody Chelsea ????????
20. the one thing, or consolation if you like about losing Bellamy, is that because of the nature of his game he is susceptible to knee problems. If he had stayed at Newcastle and had more serious knee problems then it would be bad news of course for both him and the club, but we've had it before. I saw Tony Green in his prime.
21. Well yes I agree. I just hope that Shepherd gets lucky, you never know. If he does, we would have a chance of winning the title, because he would back him. How long will Abramovic stay at Chelsea though, this is the question. Because even Arsenal and Liverpool - who are both better clubs than us just now - have no chance of finishing above them and Manu, they might finish above one of them at various times, but not both. One day, we will have a manager at Newcastle who knows what he is doing, will create a good atmosphere, manage his players, buy and sell well, build a proper club and put us where we belong again, all of these things like Keegan did.
22. hmmm...i have actually said he has done very well getting rid of Jeanarse for the fee, and for getting Parker and Emre, however I don't think it excuses him at all for underselling Bellamy for instance, it's his job to make good deals and let other clubs worry about getting ripped off, so long as it isn't us. As for net figure. In 40 odd years of supporting Newcastle I have never heard this "net" figure used to show how much money a manager of any club has "had", "spent" or whatever. Remember all the cockney twats in the press taking delight in Keegan spending "60m and winning nowt". Well, he actually had a "net" expenditure of about 20m quid, all of which was self generated through being successful, and even the 60m was in fact 57, of which the 15m paid for Shearer, was AFTER we had came 2nd in the premiership, leaving a total of 42m to take the club from oblivion to 90 minutes from the title. All fancy theories and figure juggling. Much more straightforward to say the manager has invested in 50m quids worth of players to improve the club, in his opinion. And yes, Keegan invested 42m in 5 years. As for Bellamy being sold for his true worth, if you think that Luque is worth 1 and a half Bellamys, or he is worth less than Jeanarse, less then Emile Heskey, less than Carl Cort when we bought him from Wimbldedon, less than Boumsong, less than Steve McManaman when he left Liverpool, less than Fatty Viduka when he was at Leeds, Pretty much on a par with Diego Forlan, that Macaroni bloke at the smoggies, Freddie kanoute, to mention a few, .......get the drift !
23. OK, that one must have escaped me. FWIW, we know that Robson had to go, as the team needed freshening up if we wanted to go back up into the top 4 rather than slide a few places, which is what I feel would have happened if Robson had stayed. But getting back into the Champions League is without doubt the absolute minimum for Newcastle now. The club has to make sure that themselves, and us, set our stall out for this all the time, and with an occasional cup thrown in for good measure, because looking at Chelsea today, we have absolutely no chance of beating both Chelsea and manu to the title at least until the Russian gets fed up of his football club. we had our chance in 1996 and didn't quite do it.
24. totally agree, absolutely Fair point by more sex education ? By raising the age of consent ? Or by prescribing the pill to more girls than now .. with you here, zero tolerance on a fair amount of things I would say spot on All the measures above would create a demand for more prisons though. So that would have to be a priority. I also think that making the punishment fit the crime in lots of cases is appropriate, judge the crime on its merits. I realise the answer lies in better education and quality of life, but surely the best solution is to try to educate them and stop them getting into trouble in the first place. For me, once they have done something to deserve to be locked up, then we should make sure they learn the error of their ways ..... Trouble with this is parents though. Isn't it amazing how many parents run up to school and castigate teachers for trying to discipline their kids, then are probably the same ones who either can't be arsed to discipline their kids themselves, or proudly boast to other parents that they are happy to allow teachers to take actions as they see fit. Too many benefits. You can understand how genuine cases can lose out if rules are tightened but you are right there has to be a cut off point somewhere. All politicians promise this, but what they mean is you have to pay, and sometimes when it means the mother works her pay is not enough to make it worthwhile. A worthy source of government funding without a doubt. Wierd this. When I left school, the school I went always seemed to get someone a job before they left, they prided themselves on it. However I know lads who have had school leavers under their wing teaching them skills etc and they all seem to say now that the kids are pretty useless and have no responsibility.
25. Shame some people will simply never admit they are wrong about a manager, or a player come to that [who exactly did say Ameobi and Kluivert would be the dynamic replacements for Shearer a year ago] they would rather cling to one success story.....however, more to the point, as an accountant what do you think of the money he is spending, and what do you think of our points total last season ? 41902 I don't know who said Ameobi and Kluivert would be dynamic replacements for Shearer. I do know it wasn't me though. Are you sure someone actually said it and that you aren't just creating a fictional quote by a fictional person about something that was never going to happen, so that you can tell us all how clever you are because you knew it never could happen? 41990 I don't know if you did or not, but I do know that a hell of a lot of people on here said this. Your daft comment about some sort of fictional person saying Ameobi and Kluivert would be top players for Newcastle, also shows that you have an extremely short memory if you think otherwise, or just make things up as you go, as you know full well a lot of people said the above. As far as making predictions, I just exercise footballing judgments, and I'm very rarely wrong, if I am wrong I would admit it, only a complete cock would refuse to admit when they are wrong, wouldn't you agree ? Question. What exactly is your expectations of Souness, and spending 50m quid on a team that was already qualified for the UEFA Cup via a 5th place position in the league ? What would you see as success, given the above advantages over 15 teams who were below us ? At what stage exactly would you be prepared to admit that he has been a failure, seeing as you are still not considering this as an option despite our pathetic performance last season, and so far this one, in return for the massive financial backing and support he has had ?
