I also think it's more than "merely coincidence" that Newcastle went from 13th, 11th, 11th, to 4th, 3rd & 5th with those two key, key figures in all 3 campaigns. 40064 no coincidence at all

yep and nope Alex. I know he had faults, he was gobby. As a player he wasn't muscular and strong, but neither did Shearer have Bellamys pace ..... so he wasn't perfect either. I don't think they are one sided, I just see him as a player, and a top player who was hounded out of the club by a fuckwit of a manager who couldn't be bothered to manage him. Whats one-sided about that ? Have we replaced him for the fee we got for him ? Will we replace him for the fee we got for him ? Did we do better or worse without him ? Nowt else matters matey !

I'll ask you seeing that Leazes isn't answering it. When will you drop the whole "Bellamy" subject? 39615 when Gemmill admits he's wrong about something 39619 I thought you were a decent poster once. Does that count? 39630 but now I'm good ..........

I'll ask you seeing that Leazes isn't answering it. When will you drop the whole "Bellamy" subject? 39615 When the last member of this board finally drops dead of course! Seriously...well from my point of view it will ultimately get boring as any topic does eventually if contiunally recycled to the point of infinite. But the quickest way i suspect would be for nobody to post any more threads that have a go at him, his personality or his performances because if that happens then other people will defend him. I know i haven't and never will start a thread about him if he scores goals, plays well or if say Hughes says what a great bloke he is as theres no need, and i don't think Leazes especially starts them so much as joining ones already there. So i think the quickest way to end it is no threads slagging him off started and no threads mentioning his goals etc. started. 39618 yep, pretty much correct. Along with my last post, the admittance by all concerned that Souness is a fuckwit for selling one of his best players rather than do his job he is well paid for, would help as well.

Neither do I. Players like him are what winning is all about 39295 He is however a complete and utter twat. His highlight being of course the deliberate attempt to end a fellow proffesionals career, but that follows years of beign a prick on and off the pitch...and yes i'd love him to have played for us!!! 39308 true
-
39262 You're not getting a trophy daft lad. 39293 whats the matter with you ? Don't you want to see a lad in a black and white NUFC shirt lift a trophy ????????????

Course he was. I lost count of the number of times I had to defend him in conversations at Irish pubs over here with the line "Yeah, he's a twat, but he's our twat." Whether a player plays for us or not shouldn't change a thing about any (rational) person's judgement of character... 39279 aye, but when he's OUR twat, you don't mock him [Gemmils words] ! in fact, the very opposite .........

Its always been obvious Owen is Shearer's replacement. Same goal threat, same world standing, proven international, massive transfer fee required, complete self belief that they are the best. Its also obvious from Freddie, Souness and everyone who's spoken about it at the club saying Owen IS Shearer's replacement because nobody else could have done it. It was clear the club was putting a shit load of money aside for when the day came we had to get Big Al's replacement with the intention of getting somebody worthy and we certainly have. When the chance to get Owen arose, out came the money that had been kept for Al's replacement. We have not thus far bought Bellamy or Kluivert's replacement and this is where the problem lies. Shearer is near the end of his career and can't play all the time and Owen may get injured. Suddenly we could be looking at Shola and Chopra, unless Dyer and Luque happen to be fit and scoring well as a striker. For me we still lack one striker if Luque and Dyer prove capable there, if they don't then we lack two. 39285 Lets face it, the vast majority of us would have hand picked Owen to succeed Shearer too. Brilliant. But, next year, he needs a partner. Shame Bellamy isn't here because they would have been fantastic, every bit as good as Bellamy would have been with Shearer in his prime.
-
that would be telling. 39266 Prefer to wait until well after the event before forming a safe opinion? 39282 decision made on that and made well known after the Charlton game last year mate !

There is no way that a team finishes in the top 5 for 3 years and qualifies for the 2nd phase of the champions league with anything other than a good spirit in the dressing room, not to mention all the times we came back from a goal down in league games, and have such a fantastic record in our immediate game after the European ones. For Souness to suggest the team spirit was bad in such circumstances is an insult to a man vastly superior and far more knowledgeable and successful in football than him. Bobby Robson should tell him to shut his mouth until he has matched his team, before he compares anything to it. By uttering such insecure remarks, he is simply showing how desperate he is to pacify supporters for selling a popular player, because he knows deep down he pushed him out for personal and not football reasons. Mind you, his spin and appointment of Terry Mac to woo over those who can't see the obvious, is working in some quarters ........ I haven't asked anyone to prove the text is not true, but I suppose you could say I don't believe a word of what Souness and his spin makers say. I have said somewhere though that if it is true, it suggests a very dangerous clique at the club, that a player did such a thing to his team mate and captain, who is not supposed to be doing anything other than playing and captaining the team. The throat grabbing is true though. As is him trying to break his own players leg on the training ground. Disgraceful. We haven't, Owen is Shearers eventual replacement who became available and more needed a year early. There will not be 15m next year to replace Shearer unless we make sales. It was used to buy Owen, now this is just simple common sense and hardly economic genius.
-
The lad's a twat. That's why he's getting mocked. 35759 When we don't qualify for the champions league, or replace Bellamy next summer for 4.5 m quid, will you admit you were wrong about Souness ? Plenty of people are twats, it's totally irrelevant to his footballing ability. He isn't a twat or wasn't a twat when he played for YOUR team, which is precisely what I meant about rose tinted specs ©, not that I would expect you to be big enough to admit you are now wearing them. Roy Keane is a twat because he doesn't play for Newcastle as well isn't he ?
-
apologies mate, just a gag and certainly not meant for you.
-
that would be telling. Suffice to say I think when Souness grabbed him by the throat, Bellamy should have hit him back with a hard hammer, as should Dwight Yorke when he tried to break his leg in training at Blackburn. And I would like Souness to fall off the tyne bridge, with a heavy brick attached to his bollocks.
-
why are you pleased now then ?

As far as I remember with Dunn, Souness said his social life was his biggest downfall, where is he now? constantly injured but always on the piss... 38323 aye but wouldn't his ex distract you a little bit like [he's had a serious injury though hasn't he ? ] 38350 So, Souness should have considered that Dunn has a fit missus before criticising his lifestyle? 38874 results, results results. It's all that matters. Where were Blackburn when he left them, having kicked out Cole, Yorke, Dunn and alienated Todd "for the good of the club" 39088 Cole - Bad attitude Dunn - see above Yorke - see above x 3 Todd - nutcase 39091 Results, results, results, it's all about results. Where were Blackburn after he kicked them out "for the good of the club"
-
First bit correct, but 2nd part misguided. Owen also cost a lot more money, so if you think Owen has replaced Bellamy, I've got a question for you ? Who do you think will replace Shearer next year and be Owens partner ? And how much money do you think the club will need to spend and how much will they have, the 4.5 m they got for Bellamy ? Or another 15m ? Unless you think Ameobi is the man, but you did think that once didn't you, like plenty others ?

Football isn't marks and sparks. Shame you don't advocate such decisive action against disrespectful and annoying kids that hang around on street corners...etc that grow up into gobby adults ........ 39093 Good example given the player we're discussing. 39094 i meant Souness ! Anyway, why didn't you tell us that you wanted rid of Bellamy when Bobby Robson was here ..... ? You don't believe Souness before Bobby Robson do you ?

plenty of kiddies forums around for you and your mate you know, cartoon network .. things like that - on 2nd thoughts my daughter talks more sense on there than you do on here and is more worthwhile than you and spongebrain 38247 The irony! 38982 but I'm always right !

I read reports from the game in all the newspapers online. 38573 wasn't directed at you mate, just a general comment. I don't read some papers unless someone posts them online !!!

You still don't read the post Craig, I'm not talking about his last 10 games or whatever, after he had announced he was leaving, I'm talking about the team and group of players he inherited compared to the team and group of players he left 3 years or so later !!!!!
