Andy Carroll....Local Hero! O̶r̶ ̶J̶u̶d̶a̶s̶?

Basing their incoming transfers on money generated by sales. Might change in the summer but that's what January was. What they said in the beginning, and continue to say, is that, yes, money generated by sales will all be re-invested but so will all profits. There is no aquisition debt on the club so the 27 million interest payment paid by the previous owners will now become profit, which they say will also be re-invested. That being so, and with all merchandise and matchday boycotts now off, I'd imagine our profits will rise year on year. Of course this is the kind of thing our other Yank friends said so it remains to be seen whether this actually happens. It's still early days but up to now they've been as good as their word. Far too early to judge them and still wary. thats far too basic for some to understand, some people seem to think we will sell millions of shirts with Ameobi on the back. Are you now trying to compare our commercial position with that of Liverpool - FFS how many times do yoiu have to be told that as global phenomenon there is no comparison. -
I only read Cheney claiming that - if true then no, I still think it was morally bankrupt.

Just saying at work its the fact they built this fuck off "fort" in the middle of the town and nobody said owt that's funny. It is a dilemma - Pakistan looks like a lost cause but cutting them off might just make it worse.
-
I think you can want to meet someone who you admire to have a good conversation with them rather than just because they are a celeb/hero/famous and just to shake their hand or whatever. Biil Hicks, Christopher Hitchens and Germain Greer come to mind for me on that basis.

But the actions of fans do matter to you or reflect on the club? How does slagging Andy Carroll endorse Liverpool over Newcastle? How does it illustrate that the fans think Liverpool's "methods" (which are actually at the moment Ashley's) are setting better standards apart from in your warped brain? As I said away games are about supporting the team and banter with the other fans - assigneing a political agenda to chants in ridiculous. I'd also point out that if away games are about winning than the record at Anfield was just as shit under any owner we've ever had. -

I never denied they backed the manger (though never with their money) - I just pointed out that your reasoning for defending his comments about Carroll was based on something which isn't correct. I honestly don't see for one second how having a go at Carroll in anyway, shape or form means that the fams back Ashley either over his sale (which I guess most do but that's incidental) or somehow endorsing his business model. Fans go to away games for the same reason I did - to meet up with mates, have a few pints, watch a game while supporting the team and genreally having a good time. This may include dodgy or unwarranted abuse or chants which imo "mean nothing" in reality. This is why protests over Ashley could never work - they just undermine the base reasons for being there. I also don't get your point about being superior to Liverpool - we've had that off the field view for as long as I can remeneber - see Shankly's comments about NUFC and SAFC - so fans enjoying themselves by saying they outsung Liverpool is again absilutely nothing to do with owners or business models - its about raw football support. I think everone knew that a lot of the expansion after promotion was on the backs of fans and some of that was okay in my view - if an adult wants to spend £40 on something I would never dream of wearing its up to them and I don't think it was a great revelation that they were made in sweatshops. What people didn't like was the tone the fuckers used which showed their contempt for those fans as if to say "the thick fuckers don't know any better". Combine that with insulting people wives, girlfriends mothers and daughters while paying for whores is something I find objectionable but it was only one of a few things. When Fletcher was in charge the fans were treated as walking wallets - our ST prices were extortionate in the context of regions and the way they treat those moved by the expansion showed their true views. Add in the way they distributed tickets and the meny they extorted from the club yearly and again the only word that comes to mind is contempt. I also think its funny that as far as you're concerned "successful" owneres should be able to get way with anything and can nevcre embarrass you but a few fans sing a song draws your criticism in terms of reputation/perception - the double standards are huge. -

The thing is if you state things like "Shepherd would not have sold Carroll without consulting his manager" then I'm sorry but I feel I should point out that that is shit - he conducted sales and purchases without asking more than one of his managers as I pointed out. I don't mind your opinions per se - its some of the baseless "facts" you use which I feel should be addressed. I'd don't dislike Shepherd or the Halls for their personalities, I dislike them for some of their actions. Now those actions you consider incidental or small beer but I think they are important - you mention the politics of the club and that's what I'm on about - some of their actions abused and exploited the fans and I can't forget or forgive that no matter how good we were on the pitch. I also find it funny you feel the fans are embarassing themselves at the moment when most non-Newcastle fans would have Shepherd high on their list of factors as to why they find NUFC "laughable". Those actions you feel were incidental did a lot more damage to the club's reputation than a few dafties booing Carroll. -

Gary Speed, Albert Luque. Do you think for one second Shepherd consulted Robson over the sale of Woodgate? -

what a plank you are, you dumb fuckwit. My only "agenda" is to see the club competing where it ought to be, that is why I have paid my 3 year season ticket, regardless of how I feel about what Mike Ashley is doing to it, why don't you ? If you want to back Mike Ashley, which is what it appears you are doing, back him with your wallet or stop criticising those who are continuing to support the club whatever their motive. Another hypocrite. Part of my decision in giving up my ST was not giving any money to Ashley - so who's the hypocrite? I'm continuing to support the club, because whatever my feelings about the direction they are going, I'm hoping we are successful, fucknuts. Yet you went to games when the Halls and Shepherd were owners and they attracted you to games, because now you have stopped going yet criticise them ? What a plank, as you said, who's the hypocrite ? Attraction? I started going to games when Seymour was in charge and it never had anything to do with ambition, backing, revenues or any other bullshit - you still don't get that I hate Ashley more than all of them but also recognise that Hall and Shepherd were cunts - it's not love one and hate the other - can you not get that through your head? You sneered at Birmingham for winning the LC for not doing it "properly" - I can only assume you'd have to think the same if we did it with Ashley in charge. -

As I've said before I can't see how LM can want the club to succeed at present - if we won a cup or god forbid did qualify for Europe he'd surely have a breakdown amidst posts about "need to do it over 7 years or it doesn't count". I've said I stopped going to matches as I don't enjoy it any more - it seems strange that he criticises Renton and others for actually having a good time if it doesn't fit his agenda. -
They might have taken some when he had his CIA medical all those years ago.
-
If they knew where he was they'd have captured him and this 24hr burial is all very convenient too - due to the importance of the body there's no way they'd let a small detail like religion get in the way. I did notice there were only two other deaths (one being his son) - I'd expect more guards at least and US casualties in a "fire fight".
-
Now that would get some good bites. It's a good point that all these people who don't live by their religions always seem to be treated with such respect on death.

We needed two strikers in January even before Carroll left. Now I'd dump all four and start again. what I don't get, is when I say something like that, and correctly point out how it is not going to happen like it did before, I attract such comments from you and others in response ? This is exactly why the club is in decline. It isn't anything to do with a blip on the pitch, or making a poor managerial appointment which can be changed, its to do with the aims, expectations and mentality within the football club. All these things impact on public appeal, commercial appeal and from there revenues, exposure, standing within the game among other players and clubs, everything. It is without dispute, and has been blatantly obvious for a long time now. Because I take a view between what should happen and what I'd like to see happen and what does happen and will happen. As I've said I'd love Ashley to wake up to the fact that the best way to get his money back is to speculate but I realise it won't happen. To me him coming out and saying he wants to qualify for Europe when he won't take the decisions to make that happen is more stupid than actually being quite truthful with the top 10 thing. It may hurt and believe it or not it hurts me as well but it doesn't stop me seeing it's sort of sensible GIVEN THAT HE WON'T INVEST FURTHER IN PLAYERS. (the caps are to try and stop you from saying I welcome it).

I'm delighted the bloke's dead but still laughed at Obama's "they started it, we finished it" shite.

I'm hoping Arsenal do Man Utd over and Chelsea sneak through to regain it. Anything but Manchester fucking United. There's an Aussie I work with who's a Chelsea "fan" who's been calling for Ancelotti to be sacked all year and I've been telling him he's an ungrateful spoilt twat - would be alright by me if they won it just to shut him up (I do think he'd be happier if they didn't win it perversely).
-
15-20 I only listened to metal so did diversify later (actually just started to get into other stuff at 19 or 20) - being hypocritical for a moment my favourite time for music was probably the 90s when I was 26-35 but I did mature late (if at all).
-
Apart from the first Black Sabbath album which was probably recorded just before the decade end I don't own a single piece of music from the 60s and never will. I think I've said this before on music threads but people need to get beyond the whole "the only good music just happens to be that from when I was young and before my brain died". That's not a dig at you BTW but is a dig at CT. All decades since the 70s have had great music imo.

when he goes to games again, and sees for himself, I might. Until then I'm not really arsed what he says mate as he spouts crap and I've made my point over 3 years ago about Ashley. I'm sticking to my guns. Can we have a breakdown of the number of games you attended from say 1980 to 2010 (you can include the 70s if you like) so we can decide what weight to give your views. Windaz lives in Ipswich - how many games did you go to when you were exiled? -

Remind me where Prince Phillip was born and where his parents came from again - or is citizenship for certain immigrants now okay with you? would that make me a "racist" ? Kind of disproves your wild, but typically left wing lunatic insinuations doesn't it ? No - just one rule for people you think are useful and one for those you don't. Of course your failure to accept that many, many immigrants you do object to are useful as well is another matter. -
