The Chron said he and Geremi "weren't fit enough" as they weren't in Austria so a bit behind.

If the way Boumsong tuened out is left aside for a moment (a big deal I know) theres a lot of stuff being written which is stretching hindsight to make more of a story. First of all there are snide remarks about Boumsong being a free transfer from Auxerre - has nobody heard of Bosman? - his contract was up. Secondly He did do well at Rangers according to most people - I'm one of the first to refer to the SPL as pub football but it does count for something. Thirdly thanks to Shepherd's wonderful sense of timing in selling Woodgate just before the deadline we were obviously desperate which would have been exploited by any club and/or agent. Fourthly it looks like he has done okay at Juventus and for France - my honest opinion is that he isn't a bad player just completely unsuited for the Premiership. All of the above doesn't mean that I don't think the coziness of Souness, McKay and Murray in the deal exempts it from suspicion and I wouldn't be surprised if something was amiss but the less than subtle detective work in some of the media articles does go too far imo.

I saw that on SSN and he seemed to be implying that the new regime were being a bit too careful backing him which had caused the missed targets. I hope they take the hint or this 18th of July thing means they'll start being a bit more assertive.

Shades of Bernard/Domi. If a player doesn't realise that its a fresh start and its mainly down to him what he makes of it then decides he doesn't want to stay then sod him.

I was being sarky tbh. Like when a non-smoker is whinging about me smoking I'll tell them to have a bine to chill the fuck out, I'm not fussed what brand. Sarky I like - fair enough (Second-hand murderer)

I think the bloke's a grade A toss pot, I'm not religious or anything, but the way he goes about insulting anyone with a modicum of faith, he's just rude. He wants to let God's love into his heart and stop being the embittered husk he seems. Agreed, his arrogance is his undoing, I find his arguments intreging, but his manner and plain rudness undermines his work. Compared with Harris and Hitchens, Dawkins is extremely friendly and "unrude" when it comes to talking to Theists. His arrogance comes from a certainty in the science which is the bedrock of his point of view, whereas the other two do have the contempt more for the irrationality of belief which I share (while also relying on the science). Happy Face: Which one of the thousands of Gods that you do and don't believe in should Dawkins embrace?

What a load of shit. Mark Dennis - good player (though an idiot) Summerbee - funny that the mackems will bite but he was good for them. Kamara - good player for what he did. Micky Droy - might be a dinosaur but was effective. John Fashanu - I despise him but not exactly ineffective.

Don't contribute to this thread very often but I thought I should recommend Ash's new album which I've been listening to today. - punk/pop-tastic. Seeing them on Thursday as well.

"Good players will sign for Keane"

I was just thinking that - it also leaves plenty time to pick up some late deals and may mean we get the 8 or 9 (at least) I think we need.

As I've said I'm impressed by his professionalism but at the same time I'm starting to think this sort of stuff is becoming the be all and end all of his job. Surely buying, coaching and playing the players correctly is the real crux of the job? I know this is all part of it but I'm starting to worry about the emphasis.

Canny - enjoyed them at Reading last year when it was obvious they were like kids on xmas day - probably should have given up there and then.

They never see the irony in posting about "barcodes" wearing their shirts all the time - I remember going to Kiev with Keith Barrat's flight in '03 and at 5am at Newcastle airport (sorry Ponteland airport) there were loads of the fuckers going on holiday who got a bit shy when they saw some of the "dafter" elements in the Barrat party - good start to the day.

I had one of those a few years ago and it was the worst medical experience of my life. Having said that the worst part of it was the consultant who scheduled it - he had a God complex and was the worst excuse for a human being I've ever met and thats saying something - If I hadn't been so worried about the actual health issue (which turned out to be nothing) I think I'd have had no problem punching his lights out.

As usual the truth will lie somewhere in the middle - though I agree with him about how McClaren's and Mourinho's names weren't mentioned.

The fallout on Tevez was that despite saying they'd removed the 3rd party ownership, said third party still thought they had a stake (ie the contract was still valid) which I think is why West HAm were "done". On this basis I'd like to know Mascherano's status before transfer to Liverpool.

This thing about Allardyce's son puzzles me. Are they saying that any business deal in which family members put business the way of others is inherently dodgy? If its more specific than that then say what the problem is, otherwise they are tainting thousands of deals done everyday in all walks of life. If the accusation is that he bought players who he didn't want just because there was money in it for his son then thats a matter for Bolton and would surely massivley increase the scope of the inquiry if relationships with agents other than familial were taken into account (eg Souness/ McKay). I'm sure that something like 51 of the 54 players the monkey's heed signed for the Mackems had the same agent (a firm he had shares in iirc). When you consider the likes of Nunez I could never understand why the FA weren't interested.

The biggest crime seems to be "not co-operating fully" -nowhere near as bang to rights as Graham and Arsenal (got away with murder) were. In fact if there are repurcusions for us I'd site precedent to that case and either ask how Arsenal got away with it or retrospecively close the fuckers down.

I say this every year but .com before they paid up tried all sorts of shite like "The day before Biffa visits his auntie who lives in the town next to Bolton" and they STILL got threatened. (Though I'd guess the club had a hand in the harassment)
