"There is a lot of talent in the team and for us to be above teams like Newcastle in the table is terrific - we certainly haven't broken the bank here. PORTSMOUTH and Newcastle clash at Fratton Park, both still clinging on to hopes of European football next season. A seventh place finish in the Premiership may be good enough for Uefa Cup qualification this season. Pompey are one place and two points outside the top seven, and five points outside the top six. But they still have to host Liverpool and Arsenal, and face a potentially crucial visit to Everton. The Hampshire club are on course for their highest finish in 52 years, since a top three placing in 1954-55. Manager Harry Redknapp will want the side that turned up and sensationally beat leaders Manchester United 2-1 in their last home game on Saturday night, rather than the one that surprisingly lost 4-2, away to bottom of the table Watford on Easter Monday. Goalkeeper David James is set to make a fourth attempt to break the Premiership goalkeeping record of 141 clean sheets. Pompey have never beaten Newcastle in the Premiership - all three home fixtures in this League have been drawn. Pompey's last top flight victory over the Magpies was over a half century ago (3-1, home on 5 March 1955). NEWCASTLE UNITED make their longest domestic journey of the season, with extremely faint hopes of Uefa Cup football and more realistic ones of qualifying via the Intertoto Cup once again. Newcastle have already taken six points off Tottenham, while Portsmouth have been 'doubled' by Bolton and Chelsea. I don't mind playing 4-5-1 against teams with spark and creation in midfield, but pompey haven't been scoring of late. I would have though the best idea would play a 4-4-2 on the counter, using Dyer and Oba's pace. esepcially with Campbells assured presence missing at their back line.
