I may have discovered a new magic bullet.

 

I woke up yesterday morning at 4am with a toothache and couldn't get back to sleep. It eased a bit over the next couple of hours so I went to work and booked a trip to the dentists for Monday.

 

Got in last night and it went absolutely nuclear - stayed up until 2am waiting for it to ease to the point of making sleep possible.

 

Got up this morning and after a dullish start it started to go mental again so I went to the chemists and bought some Anbesol gum gel which within half an hour seems to have completely stopped the pain.

 

Of course it could be coincidence and the nerve has died but looking good at the moment.

 

Im having some bother too, washing my mouth with hot salty fluid does wonders though. Whisky does a good job too.

There was a story in the paper today about some guy who got toothache in Russia, fell into a coma, was transported back to England, and then woke up again some time later speaking with a Russian accent. Count yourself lucky

I had one out about 8 years ago when I had a dentist who was quite a small (and very attractive) Indian lass who had to give up half way through and call her husband (the other practice dentist) in to get the fucker out - even then it was a struggle.

 

I think I've mentioned before that one of the reasons I hate Everton is that I had my first ever root filling on the Saturday before we played them in the cup in 95 and I associate the mind-numbing agony that entailed with them. Since then I think I've had another 3 - 2 were fine - no worse then an extraction but the other was agony as well.

Ever since I had my two front teeth broken as a youngun and some fucking quack gave me a plastic cap that fell out a week later as I was eating a creme egg - not an apple or a raw carrot, mind, a creme egg! - I've not trusted any of them and I won't go back. I keep meaning to go to the NYU dentistry school and have mine looked at by someone who isn't an overpaid hack looking to gut me for everything I own, but so far haven't.

I had to have the two teeth either side of my front teeth taken out when I was 13 I think and it stopped me going to the dentists for years - I chipped a tooth as an adult so had to go then but just had 3 or 4 fillings at that time - I've looked after them pretty well since then.

 

My last but one dentist (within the same practice) had a talent for making the anasthetic injection pain free - first time I refused to believe she's done it. She moved on unfortunately.
