I prefer their first three albums, but some people swear by the newer stuff. Just give them a search on you tube. Should be plenty of stuff on there.

Some good tunes but I find them a tad overrated.

Not trying to be clever, but there's a greatest hits. If you start with that and then find out what album the tracks you enjoy are from you might have luck picking the albums you enjoy. Personally I'd go with Foo Fighters (first one), The Colour & The Shape and There Is Nothing Left To Lose.

As others have said Colour and the shape and there is nothing left to lose.

 

The rest of the albums only have a few stand out tracks and the rest filler.

I prefer their early stuff since it's got more heavier stuff than their current output. Monkey Wrench is an amazing tune which you'll probably know when you hear it. Dave Grohl seems to be in every band atm and he's a cracking drummer. He got together with John Paul Jones of Zep and Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age last year and released a great rock album under the name Them Crooked Vultures which you might like as well.
