Yes, after the initial 3d release it will go to normal presentation as it goes to more screens.

DVD and BR will be available in two versions.

2d version is released on the same day. 3 showings at metro centre tomorrow

I've got mixed feelings about the Dark Knight Rises because I don't think this was the planned storyline. I reckon the trial of the Joker would have formed the foundation of the final part of Nolan's trilogy. I also think they've fucked up by muffling Bane's voice too much.

Still think it'll be a good film though.

Think the biggest gun was the avengers. Can't see either of these beating it's box office.

Isn't it like 6th in the all time box office takings?

Metal. It's not even that good.

4th when I last check and looks set to split Cameron's top two.

Kermode just reviewed on 5 Live, prefaced with a Ridley Scott interview. Paraphrasing both:

* Not enough 2D screenings (about 30%)

* The CGI is wank and uneeded

* Not the same planet

* Not an alien prequel - at least 2 further films yet

* Plot is ruined by clearly missing bits - most likely to come in a directors cut

* General theme is more Star Trek psychobabble than Alien gritty realism

* It's more about Blade Runner than anything else

* No real wow factor or major surprises

* The artificial crew member is the star

* Over-bearing soundtrack doesn't help the film

* Best sci-fi prequel since Phantom Menace (obviously not a compliment)

* 3.5/5

Most people phoning in aren't exactly creaming their pants over it either.

Plus, the Bladerunner sequel will likely be in 3D.

I would probably have gone to see this as I would have though it was Alien 0.5. Given the above though, I'll be seeing Batman if anything, and waiting for this to come to the small screen (plus it's not like there will never be another big screening if this turns out to have been an error)

Massive shout..... Fassbender as the next James Bond?

and I think he's too cerebral an actor for that.

Buffeted by a lack of suspense, threadbare characters, and a very poor script, the stunning visuals, gloopy madness, and sterling Fassbenderiness can’t prevent Prometheus feeling like Alien’s poor relation. "

Empire Magazine.

Looks like 'Lost' bloke has fucked up.

Could a sequel save it?

Just got back from watching it. Agree from most of Kermode's comments - apart from the CGI which I thought was good.

No character development, no surprises, stupid moments. I wont ruin it with spoilers but very, VERY disappointed. 5.5/10.

I went to see Prometheus this afternoon and really liked it. If the rumours of a trilogy are correct then you can see where it is heading as this was only the beginning so to speak and was more to create some kind of back story.

Now I say this without having seen Prometheus, but has Ridley Scott made anything decent recently? Off the top of my head Gladiator was the last thing of his that was roundly praised, and even that's only okay.

Was going to say Black Hawk Down then I realised it was >10 yr ago. Hardly recent. American Gangster was canny though I had to look up his films to realise that was him.
