Drinking in Tenerife

Evening All

First things first I'm a West Ham season ticket holder (so please go easy) looking forward to playing you guys next season. Needless to say Pardew really has you guys playing some cracking football and hope you can carry it through next season. If you can keep hold of Ba and Cisse then who knows how far you can go?

Reason for the post is a bit of a plea really. Was holidaying in Puerto Colon, Tenerife about a month ago and stumbled upon the Geordie Pride bar down by the Marina. Decided to pop my head through the door and ended up spending the majority of my holiday in their. The bar like most pubs in Tererife is having a hard time but the new owners Mark and Kerry are a couple of diamonds in the rough. The food is top notch and really reasonable, the beer is nice and cold and add in free wi-fi and footy on TV and you can settle in for the day/evening.

It would be a shame to loose the Geordie Pride, it's been open in Puerto Colon for over a decade so if any of you guys are down that way pop in and say hello to Mark and Kerry and help keep this little piece of Newcastle alive and kicking.

Good luck for the comming season can't wait to get back to St James's next season and hopefully see some of you guys at the Boleyn Ground.

Been to Tenerife 7 times, mainly Los christianos, which is a bit of a hike from Puerto Colon. After a break of 3 years I was there in April, was a bit saddened how quiet and run down Las Americas was. Hope this pub survives but loads of places I knew haven't. Often this is due to all inclusives but I'm not sure if this is the case with Tenerife.

Got a mate who is a West Ham fan and personally always liked your club. Hate Allerdyce though, so feeling canny ambivalent about you lot at the moment. ;)

I know this is tangential to the original post, but I really like the Canaries. The volcanic landscapes and proximity to Africa give them something a bit different to your average British/German holiday resort, but still with plenty of trashy resort stuff on tap if that's what you're after.

Anyway, we generally go to Lanzarote (specifically Costa Teguise) because it's a bit quieter, but will definitely pop in to the aforementioned bar if we're on that side of Tenerife again. :good:

Heading that way in a few weeks, might check it out. Staying down Los Cristianos way but like a good walk.

Have to agree, was there last year and the crowds are way down on what they were 10 years ago. Empty bars and clubs everywhere.

There was a toon bar in Santa Ponsa, Mallorca when I was there last, called The Canny Lad. The bloke still had a Keegan haircut from 1984 but his face was more like Mick Jagger if he had 12 e in one go. Funny I've never seen a Sunderland bar, or a Tottenham bar, or any other teams bar if I'm honest, although Celtic claim bars around the world as their's if they sell Guinness.

I think they're all suffering obviously because of what's happened since 2009, and it's not getting any better.

I've seen a few NUFC/Geordie bars on my hols, seen a few OF bars, seen a few Liverpool ones and one Man U but after that I'm struggling to think of any others apart from generic Irish/Scots/Welsh bars. It's strange when you think about it, surely there has to be other clubs having significant club stuff in their bars?

P.S. Our 'local' when we've been to Cyprus had a bit of Spurs stuff in but it wasn't much and it's name had nothing to do with Tottenham, just the owner supported them, sound bloke actually.
