I have little confidence in Ba's penalty taking. Now I have even less in Cisse's. Should have subbed Shola on for it ;) Ben Arfa would have been a better shout, but I'd say he'd be the type to send the odd shocker from trying to do too much.

Totally agree about Ba's penalty taking, he does one of those slow run ups that I hate. I think Cabaye was great at penalties and took them for Lille. But we do seem to lack a specialist, and Pards seems to just let them get on with it.

It's obviously not the right choice if he's missed it though is it...

Letting someone take it just to get them on the scoresheet reeks of arrogance and contempt for the opposition. Hope Pardew is putting it up them right now to not let that foolish decision cost us the points.

Bit simplistic. Cissé's a great finisher. Everybody misses sometimes. (Except Shola)

Cabaye's looked sharp

edit: meant to put Cabaye's shot. Was referring to the chance he squandered when he put his boot through it and blazed a good opportunity when he could have placed it better.

Delivery has been better than last few games like.

Really dont see it like that at all.

A real chance to get both our strikers firing together is nothing to do with arrogance.

Totally dont get that mindset at all.

Hindshight is a wonderful thing, had Cisse scored everyone would have been saying it was a smart move. These things happen. Still fancy Cisse to score second half.

You talking about his appearance there? ....Certainly not his play. Has offered up one or two intersting passes, the rest have been out of sync or poor. Trying too hard at the top of the box to send in a belter, so far that's resulted in a misskick and a one into the stands.

Right choice for CIsse to take it and everyone would be agreeing if he hadn't missed. Fact is, he's a good striker in need of a goal, a penalty is a great opportunity to get him that goal. Similarly, if Jonas was on a hat-trick (I know, I know) you'd let him take a penalty to get his third.

As long as you weren't drawing or losing, obviously.

A penalty is a golden chance to score, unless the game is in the bag you put your best penalty taker up there to maximize your chance of scoring. It's fucking simple.

I know the lads will have been thinking they were doing Cisse a favour there by sending him up to take it, but then look what has happened? Can't have helped his confidence and Norwich will be buoyed by being only one goal down. Pardew will have roasted them for it rightfully so.

Problem with the situation of Cisse (or any goal drought striker) being chosen to take a penalty to get them up and running is you run the risk of them missing it, and their lack of goals becoming a massive 'thing'. Worry that if Cisse doesnt score in second half he'll suffer even more with confidence after the game having missed a penalty.

...cue the hatrick with the left, right, and head :wink2:

On Cisse I think his general play is suffering from complacency resulting from his instantaneous success in the league. Way too early to worry but have to hope that he's giving his all in training, making his runs in games etc. if that's the case the goals will come.

Smashing powerful shot on target from HBA parried by Ruddy... Taylor had a good chance to score from the resulting corner.

Just finished work, how are we looking so far?

Good in patches. Ben Arfa slicing through them. Ba with a quality finish. Had a penalty wasted it - Cisse missed horribly. Defensively we've looked likely to concede a number of times but somehow still have a clean sheet. Harper doing well and Williamson heavily involved at the back.
