Xisco, Harper and Simpson all on frees in the summer. Our squad is getting thinner

Pretty sure one of the trainers can fill Xisco's role - as Jonas' Uno opponent.

Only loss is Simmo and it's not that big of a loss if they get a replacement (actually two outside backs needed). But they won't.

Getting Xisco's wages off the books is a good thing

All our players have been cheap, where have you been?

Perhaps why we're in a relegation fight and dumped out of the cups.

How little do your reckon we can spend and still stay up?

You do realise we'll get more injuries and suspensions don't you?

It's quantity we're lacking not quality.

It's obvious that one thing's no good without the other.

Signing more players in the Ameobi. Ranger, Williamson, Perch, Simpson, Obertan mould may bring in quantity but would take us down.

Problem is, you can't bring in a top quality player who is going to be happy sitting on the bench.

Luckily for us we have openings in the first XI atm for a CB, LW and CF, leaving the 3 currently playing in those positions as decent back ups if we buy properly. Buying Obertans, Abeids and Amalfitanos just means you have a larger choice of below average players to put on the bench.

Quantity and heart aswell. Ashley signals no ambition, our players recieve signal and play with no ambition.

If we sign Remy that would leave £10 million, of a theoretical £20 million budget, to buy the 4 or 5 players we need.

That means we'd be looking at £2 or £3 million each which doesn't buy much quality does it.

Ashley seems to be gambling with another relegation, should stick to the casinos and buy some quality players.

Don't forget wages. Signing 3 players for £3.5m each on wages of £40k a week is more expensive over 5 years than one player of £15m on £60k per week.

Wages are almost always ignored - mostly through naivety - but they are usually the biggest factor in deciding whether a deal goes through or not.

Also they will need kits etc and it's more expensive to provide 3 kits, lunch, tea, halftime drinks etc than just one.

Who would have thought that 10.5 + (40 x 3 x 5) > 15 + (60 x 5) wow maths eh?

Luckily we be only recently cleared big earners Alan smith and Demba Ba off our books so there is plenty of room on the payroll for some well remunerated quality players.

Obvious to you, but to many, all they talk about is transfer fees. Some seem to think that because we got £35m for Carroll, we should spend £35m on transfer fees on 4 or 5 players, conveniently ignoring the fact it'll cost another £10m a season to pay these new players.

Our wages are £20m down on what they were in 2007 as wel though.

As a percentage of turnover they're down 30% to 60%. The league average is 70% so we're well blow average.

We can afford the extra wages.
