When was that quote from? I still stand by it like, but have since decided labels are fucking pointless. I want progressive taxation and redistribution of wealth, and nationalisation of industries where the market is broken. I prefer Scandinavian models which are proven to create societal well being. I fucking hate the current lot of Tories with a vengeance. So what am I?

Sane.

Then I humbly submit that Renton is no longer a socialist

He's a Blairite ffs, and while I will accept readily that he is socialist in some ways, he's clearly a proponent of the centre more than the left.

Although tbh, I agree with every word of that quoted post.

I believe in most of that too (except banning people from the Middle East), my only real difference is how it’s paid for.

I think the vast majority of the U.K. feel the same about politics. The government of the day should do as much stuff as it can for its people but avoid old fashioned boom and bust.

Putting aside the war, Labour under Blair did a lot of good, but should have tackled more of the underlying big problems in society. (housing / pensions).

It's CBD which isn't really what most people consider "weed".  Yes, it's technically a marijuana plant but doesn't have any(?) psychotropic effects and should be legal everywhere as it has medicinal uses such as pain relief and seizure prevention.  No more than 1% THC is basically medicine and nothing more.

I mean, I think a lot of stuff that's not should be legal (and vice-versa) but this one's a no-brainer.

I can assure you this is all very mild so far

Basically you’ll sink or swim, most sink.

They’re all a nice bunch really.

This explains the lack of Tory's, the TT crew keep sinking them

Well, I think zerosum might be a Tory. He waded into the politics threads on the EU debate but didn't get as embroiled as you (he's pro-Brexit).

We don't get that many though, and it really is important to work out whether they're wumming or not.

We don't get many because we are a North East team and the Tories take great delight in fucking the North East with a razor wire dildo every time they are in power. Only thick cunts and wind up merchants are North East tories.

Completely at odds with New Labour.

I get the impression @Renton would vote Corbyn or someone like him if they'd actually get into power, but he accepts New Labour as the realistic choice at this time.  Could be way off though.

Main issue is Brexit Tbh. I don't like his international and defence stances either. Domestically, I have few issues.

But as a leader, both him and his close shadow cabinet are pretty bereft of talent, aren't they? I maintain a competent leader would have the tories on the ropes now despite the gutter press.

It's not really just the gutter press though, is/was it?

He does seem weak, I agree with that.

He's politically inept, a pacifist, a Brexiter, an intellectual lightweight and not palatable to the wider voting public. Aside from that though he's okay.

You could assemble a very very strong front bench from the Labour side. Yvette cooper would wipe the floor week in week out with May.

I also have a lot of time for the shadow health chap.

Im not sure how they will ever reconcile the current split though.

Yet he got 40%.

I generally think that was mostly down to the manifesto which wouldn't have been anywhere near as appealing under Smith or Cooper.

I'd like a better leader with the same (or even more radical) policies fwiw.

politically inept Yep

a pacifist The alternative has been working like a charm, hasn't it?

a Brexiter I think he is/was on the fence which is a position I understand but it's an example of his principles over pragmatism which is ultimately what sinks him

an intellectual lightweight Probably

not palatable to the wider voting public Broke a Tory majority with everyone (including the liberal media and his own party) against him

I can't stand our health sec, Jeremy Hunt and was gutted he was kept on by the PM. I was personally hoping for Sarah Wollaston who has experience with the NHS.

He defied expectations and still lost against the worst PM election campaigner in recent memory. It shouldn't be seen as a victory.

And as much to do with the Tory manifesto. They won't be making that mistake again.

I think the fact he's behind in the polls now suggests he has little to no chance of winning the next election. The government could barely be more weak, divided or incompetent. Labour really needs someone who is able to take advantage of that. As has been said before, your policies barely matter if you're never going to get a chance to implement them

We shouldn't be looking for a gun-toting PM ready to follow the USA into any conflict but he has shown that he will avoid conflict except under the most extreme circumstances.

If he wanted to chose principle over pragmatism then he should have either come clean before the referendum. Half-heartedly pushing remain over leave when he doesn't believe in it isn't being principled.

Yes, he broke a Tory majority against a fucking robot. He was better on the campaign trail but he still failed to become PM and has fallen away again after the election and has proven incapable of effectively attacking the most disorganised, incompetent government in decades.

He's pretty much fucking useless.
