I was told surgery for me would be a waste of time as there's fuck all they can do with it given it's deep in the pelvis. I was told they can inject shit into the joint which replenishes the membrane but that this is both very temporary, extremely painful and expensive so probably not worth my while. Dr Gloom 26337
ah, looks like i misread KD's post. yeah - fuck surgery unless it's absolutely essential.

You can only get this done a limited amount of times too. I'd be tempted to get it done to get me over Xmas and the hump of winter personally. wykikitoon 28533
My old man had back surgery, but then he had no choice. Went ages and was fine. Then bang, would have weeks if not months of shocking pain and spasms. What's it like shitting Gloomy? Hope it eases off soon for you mate. Fine, thanks for asking My cause is helped by being a civilised sitter. Pissing is okay for now too but I was struggling to empty my bladder on Saturday night whike my back was contracting. Never known anything like it tbh. My whole body was convulsing in agony for a few hours
Dr Gloom 26337
Update: feeling much looser today with much improved mobility m so on the road to recovery. Went for a little walk to take high street earlier which was slow but not as agonising as I feared. Still high as a kite on the Valium and codeine. Going to start tapering them off tomorrow

aimaad22 6000
Glad you're feeling better Gloomy. You've probably heard this from a hundred people by now but regular moderate physical activity is the only thing that's really helped me prevent those bastard slipping/herniated disks. The first time I got it I wasn't even 30; and it always felt it could flare up any time again even when it got better. Went on and off for a few years, was proper sick of it and tried pretty much everything except surgery. A couple of years back some friends got me back into playing regular football at the weekend; and I started doing a bit of weight training during the week to try and lose some fat. Haven't been very successful in that but one day I realized the bastard discs haven't as much as peeped in that time.

Haven't been very successful in that but one day I realized the bastard discs haven't as much as peeped in that time. I play football twice a week and lift weights 3-4 times a week. It has flared up as a result of too much exercise in the past but being stronger has definitely helped. I genuinely thought I had it licked as hadn’t had a bad one before this for ages. The good news is I’m off the drugs and feel loads better. Still stiff and uncomfortable but my flexibility is coming back. No more than moderate exercise on my horizon for another week or two at least however
Craig 12372
I thought exercise was the cause of mine but was told by the physio that a lack of exercise was more likely. Basically the membrane between the Ilium & Sacrum is bone dry on my left side. If i manipulate my hip in a certain way (can be simply a case of turning on the spot) then these two bones rub against each other and pure agony is deployed.
