ekitike

I'm increasingly wondering if we're just trying to force their hand into buying Ekitike in order to kill off the Isak interest.

We could have done that just by telling them Isak isn't for sale though. If Ekitike is the next best/closest option.

I think we really want Ekitike. Isn't this our third attempt to get him?

Lot of Liverpool “making contact” but as far as I can tell, no bids or concrete evidence that they can actually spend until Diaz/Nunez/Elliott fucks off. Desperately trying to stall us tbh

So, it'll likely be the £86m release clause and then Hugo gets to choose. The good news for us is that there are more Ekitikes than there are Isaks, so if his demands are out of our reach we can skuttle off and try and sneak a different prospect

I think we want Ekitike, I think Liverpool know we want Ekitike, I think Liverpool are really pissed off we've told them to fuck off where Isak is concerned, I think Liverpool are therefore trying to hijack any deal we can make for Ekitike.

Layman's terms? I think Liverpool feel threatened by us, and that's fine with me.

Diaz wants out.  I think Nunez the same. But they don't want to sell unless they have a replacement.  Which is fair. But we DON'T have to sell Isak.  I think they do need to sell before they drop that sort of cash on Isak so are trying to force us.

In a straight choice he'll choose Liverpool over us. Time to drive up the price and have them overpay.

Agreed and especially so when you consider they no longer have Jota and if it's true that Diaz wants out.

Time to play the cunts at their own game.

Are we going to be playing 442? A lot of money to spend on a player who is 2nd fiddle to isak.

It's worth pointing out that we could have bought him last summer for a lot cheaper than this, and without Liverpool creating a fuck on in the process, if Mitchell had the first clue what he was doing. "Cheap foreign talent" was meant to be his thing, was it not?

Signed Ekitike last summer for closer to £15m, AND get Isak locked down for a big contract.

Mitchell? More like Bitch-ell, amirite?

That man was a complete disaster for us.

I mean... that's maybe putting a little too much hot sauce on it, but he wasn't good.

It probably was always our plan to force other clubs to show their hands. That’s why I said our offer might be a smokescreen.

It would be brilliant to end up with having both Isak and Hugo but that has mist likely never been a realistic scenario.

How can Liverpool deny Diaz his dream :(

In the same way they bitched about TAA. He wants to play for a bigger club. Deal with it or have a minutes silence.

I don't buy this smokescreen thing at all. His reps have flown to Austria to meet Howe. We're not doing all this as a ruse.

I do also think our approach is in some way an attempt to unsettle Liverpool into making a move on Ekitike and in some respects it's working.

Let's be honest they want, and always have wanted Isak, but I suspect Ekitike was identified as the back-up plan. The fact we've made a bid for their Plan B has sparked them into action and left them with no option but to make an enquiry about their Plan A (Isak).

Understandably rebuffed, they now have no option but to go for the back-up plan and are panicking they might miss out on him as well as they understand we're genuinely serious about wanting to sign Ekitike and is a scenario that never appeared on their radar.

If any of that is true it's fucking glorious and the mental gymnastics going on in Merseyside right now would be delightful.

i think we want the player and might still get him. if not, we'll move onto the next target. hopefully not DCL. that will be quite anticlimactic after all this.

i think isak is the big winner as he'll get a bumper deal off he back of it, probably with a release clause that allows him to leave for £150m next summer if we miss out on CL.

Lads. We want Ekitike. He's been a long term target of Howe. We're not playing 4D chess here, we're just trying to buy a footballer.
