Let's be honest they want, and always have wanted Isak, but I suspect Ekitike was identified as the back-up plan. The fact we've made a bid for their Plan B has sparked them into action and left them with no option but to make an enquiry about their Plan A (Isak). Understandably rebuffed, they now have no option but to go for the back-up plan and are panicking they might miss out on him as well as they understand we're genuinely serious about wanting to sign Ekitike and is a scenario that never appeared on their radar. If any of that is true it's fucking glorious and the mental gymnastics going on in Merseyside right now would be delightful.
