Official statement from Olympique de Marseille Olympique de Marseille has taken note of the statement published by Newcastle United FC following the Champions League match played this Tuesday at the Orange Vélodrome. The Club reminds that the arrangements relating to the reception and exit of the visiting supporters were defined well in advance of the match, in close coordination with the Police Prefecture, UEFA, and Newcastle United FC itself. This system, which complies with UEFA standards, was scrupulously applied and proceeded under good conditions. Olympique de Marseille also wishes to emphasise that, at every match, it deploys very substantial human, technical, logistical, and financial resources in order to guarantee opposing supporters high-quality reception and optimal safety conditions. The Club further points out that no incident or specific alert was reported to it by Newcastle United FC during the evening of the match—neither by their representatives present at the stadium nor in the hours following the match. Moreover, the feedback sent to our department by UEFA after the match confirms the quality of the system put in place and its proper operational execution. Olympique de Marseille reiterates once again its unwavering commitment to enabling travel for its own supporters and, by the same logic, its dedication to offering visiting supporters an appropriate and safe welcome. As such, the Club cannot accept that its responsibility be wrongly called into question. Finally, the Club wishes to commend the rigorous and coordinated work of the Police Prefecture, whose actions ensured the smooth running of the event and the safety of all supporters. there or thereabouts

The police weren't necessarily aggro, but as I was walking into the stadium at the start of England vs Argentina - the police randomly stopped about 100-200 fans from entering (while allowing everyone else to continue) - told us to walk with them to another entrance. Walked us round the entire perimiter and back to the same entrance 25 minutes later. Still unsure why they did it - but it was a fantastic power play.
