Some recent posts on boro's forum about whether they'd be happy with smell tel...

Yes, over the last week or so he's became number 1 on my list. Such a relief that some of the clowns who have been getting mentioned aren't getting it, hopefully.

Tel is best english coach for years.. should have us playing good, entertaining, football and be tactically spot on..

Yes - Best British manager available at the mo.

chooses good managers this Steve Gibson like

Does he have the badge !

Actually, if the LMA want these "rules" to carry any credibility in future, bring in a pass, fail and a standard to reach before being awarded the badge before spouting a load of absolute crap.

Anyone can just sit in on these sessions, fall asleep and get the badge.

And Glenn Roeder was as much a case for dispensation as anyone will ever be, you can't get more of a reason for not completing the course as it stands at the moment than a life threatening condition

Honest don't think El Tel's as bad as people make him out to be

True, he's not as bad as people make him out to be, but he's not as good as the press seem to think he is.

Middlesbrough have distanced themselves from speculation linking Terry Venables with a return to the Riverside.

Reports in several English newspapers suggested the 63-year-old had been offered the Boro manager's job and would be unveiled at the weekend.

But the club's chief executive, Keith Lamb, told BBC Sport: "We will be beginning the search for a new manager at the weekend, not unveiling one.

"We are ruling nothing in and nothing out at the moment."

Lamb and Boro chairman Steve Gibson are in Singapore for a sevens tournament and are not due to return to Teesside until Friday lunchtime.

"It's completely unrealistic to think we will have anyone in place by the weekend," Lamb said.

"Steve and I only arrive home on Friday and as you would expect, we will be heavily involved in the recruitment of a new manager."

Boro's managerial seat is vacant following Steve McClaren's appointment as England boss.

Lamb said: "Steve McClaren only left us on Monday. We want to get someone in place sooner rather than later because there's a lot of work to be done in pre-season. But nothing's been decided yet."

Venables' last stint in football was an eight-month spell in charge at Leeds.

He quit in March 2003 after Leeds sold a clutch of top players including Rio Ferdinand, Jonathan Woodgate and Robbie Keane.

Venables was first drafted in at the Riverside in December 2000 as Bryan Robson's side plunged towards the relegation zone.

The pair managed to preserve Boro's Premiership status and Venables was offered a coaching post on a permanent basis but turned it down to concentrate on his business and television commitments.

He's fucking shit. Just ask any Australian that had to watch him throw away the World Cup play-off against Iran in 1997.

3-0 up with 20 minutes to go, they score a goal and he just sits there, they score a 2nd and then he decides to make a change, 3-3 as he gst's the sub on and Iran's going to France on away goals, useless dickwad!
