Been having a sweep through ambient music lately- I’ll pick an artist and listen to as much of their music catalogue as I can on a shift.
Last night, it was the grandaddies of electronic music, Tangerine Dream.

Knew of them, never listened to them bar the odd song.

Got through a couple of albums, then this album below popped up and I was like…

” That’s odd, I’ve heard this before…”

Took me a while but I eventually remembered where I’d heard it- balls deep in a dorty crazy! :lol::lol:

Would you like the full tale of dirt, dicking and degradation?

Gazza, if you are looking for recommendations, try Grouper (aka Liz Harris).
Amazing stuff and brilliant live. Tape loops, vocals and either a geetar or keys.
FYI this track is not as ambient as most of her work but it gets me everytime I hear it.

Anyone that liked the Delvon Lamarr Trio stuff I posted a while ago, the contemporary Booker T, organ soul/R&B stuff, well Jimmy James the unit of a guitarist that was in the DLT, has former his own group called Parlor Greens. Same style, just as good.

I think there’s a 3rd volume too, but I only have volumes 1 & 2. But these two, released by Virgin in the early 90s, are great compilations:

https://www.discogs.com/master/22555-Various-A-Brief-History-Of-Ambient-Volume-2-Imaginary-Landscapes
They’re a mixture of what I’d term ‘proper ambient music’ and ambient techno

The one in Newtown, wasn't it? I think it is the only one left as there were a few.
FYI, the box set re-release of the first album, (I'm) Stranded is available in the UK, it's a good release.

There’s some long forgotten bangers in this bag of utter fuckin delights, special mention for Sunshine Smile by Adorable (saw them do it at Reading 93 😎) and Blues for Ceaucescu by Fatima Mansions… not sure if they pass muster for you @sammynb but there is some Moose, Midway Still, Lush and Catherine Wheel to keep you happy :good:

Nice one, cannot go wrong with all her stuff.
If you feel like something a little more noise indie, Liz aka Grouper, also has a group call Helen that's a good listen.

@Monkeys Fist Gaz, I was listening to the last two albums by Talk Talk this afternoon, Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock and they will definitely scratch that itch for you.

It's such a shame (no pun intended) how criminally under-rated Mark Hollis/Talk Talk's work is.

I don’t listen to it too much anymore but I love his self-titled album which really just feels like a follow-on from where he left off with Talk Talk.

Destroyer has a new album soon and the new single might tickle the fancy of a few here. Veering off in a slightly different direction but still distinctly him.
