  1. If a team offers nothing in behind they’ll just compress the space. So either you have to play wingers really high up (Bayern style) with midfield controlling the game (and Woltemade linking the play) or teams will just suffocate us.
  2. The midfield don’t have control of the game either. I think this cut throat style of play over a possession based only gets you so far. Not that I’m suggesting we get rid of Howe ofc. I love the bloke. Not sure what the answer is. Maybe the players just are playing shite.
  3. I can see why he started Burn as it was an aerial bombardment. Hall will be in next game though…by default.
  4. The two main problems are 1) Woltemade doesn’t suit our style 2) Howes teams can’t play this amount of games, at the level of intensity he requires. You can throw injuries to Tino etc into the mix but people saying this is the strongest squad we’ve ever had might want a rethink.
  5. Although I like Woltemade he has clearly stunted our style of play. We just get penned back all of the time as we have nothing in behind. He just isn’t a Howe style of player imo. Anyway, let’s just enjoy the cups this year. CL qualification is a gonna.
  6. Speak no evil. Class performance by James Mcavoy playing a nutter. 7.5/10
  7. Ashby is 24 in a week. Sahar is coming through but no idea what he is like.
  8. Oh just seen it. Gordon in it as well so injury must not be serious.
  9. I think his stock externally is fine. He is one of the top scorers in the CL and plays well for England.
  10. I finally got around to watching Ripley. It won’t be for everyone (CT) but I loved it. 8/10.
  11. Forest essentially played without the ball and then everything was in front of him on the counter. All he had to do was use his pace. I think he is struggling to adapt to our play. He is best sticking to the right with Trips talking him through the game but it’s not going to be a quick process. He whips in a good ball (with either foot) is lightening quick but he is actually a project rather than a completed £55m footballer.
  12. Elanga looked absolutely clueless when Hall was going on the overlap. He needs some serious work on basic skills such as his tactical positioning but also on his body position when receiving the ball. Luckily he is at the best place to learn these things but it’s alarming that a £55m player is missing these fundamentals.
  13. who is LTA? And are you going to apologise to her?
  14. Aye. And Shearer. That’s never a handball in the current climate. It just hit his arm in a completely natural position.
